Metro 6R4 Replica, Santa Pod RWYB Aug 23

- After doing numerous mapping tweaks to my Metro and also setting up and programming the antilag in the Mbe ecu, i took it down to Santa Pod again to do some runs/testing and for some fun.
The 1st run of the day was a new pb, followed by 3 more consecutively!. The changes worked well. Did 12 runs over the weekend, zero issues with the car and 8 of the runs were in the 10's.
Up against many different cars including a Mclaren 720s (in the video). Some were quicker as will always be the case but many were slower so the Metro did good!.
The new pb for the car is 10.73 at 133.63mph and i'm more than happy with that as it stands now.
Time to study the data logs, more changes to come... - Авто та транспорт
What a lovely piece of engineering that Metro is!
Unfortunately he crashed it and it’s now more.
That things a weapon! Cannot wait to see the next edition!!
V2 is coming along very nicely :-)
Love it
Absolutely love this! I had a few modified metros back in the early 2000s but nothing anywhere near as good as yours! Makes me want to get another.
Would love to see it in the flesh if you’re planning to take it back to pod
Guy in the Mclaren must have been gutted hahaha
I saw an episode of Car SOS where they restored a genuine 6R4 over in Northern Ireland. It was the 1987 British Championship winning car, but was found by the current owners in a breakers yard.
They had most of the original parts for the car, except the front differential. They managed to find one, but the seller wanted £40k for it, so they ended up using the differential from a BMW Z4 turned upside down so that it turned in the correct rotation.
Ric Wood Motorsport were mostly responsible for the car's rebuild.
I always loved the Group B cars, and was lucky enough to get into a 6R4 at the Belfast Motorshow on press day in 1986. (And a Quattro Sport & a RS200). I was 13 at the time.
Your replica is a bit of a monster, but it's RWD only?
Love that the guy who bought the £200,000+ McLaren got out dragged by a Metro!
it's not a Metro, it's a 6R4, there however a Metro in the video, perhaps you got confused!
@@Silverback1969MoonLandingLies I mean, you could argue that the 6R4 was a metro, considering it was based on one. But also I've seen the build video of this car, and it uses a (admittedly HEAVILY modified) Metro body.
No it's more metro than 6R4.... its a 2wd replica with a Ford ST200 engine and a shit ton of oustanding engineering...@@Silverback1969MoonLandingLies
Bloody brilliant ✨
Really nice car! Respect for the build👍
Nice result.Sounds real nice being wound up. I haven't been to the pod for 25+ years. The loo's were always gross.
Awesome thanks for sharing 👍👍
There is a genuine 6R4 currently for sale. It was built for Time Attack/Hillclimb and is twin turbo. Around 850bhp.
Only one slight problem. The asking price is £525,000.
Watched this live.. its a machine...
Wow petrolhead dream getting to see this 😊
Like a posh student!! Except your teaching people about gap yaaars
Some going Ian
As always, nice work Ian. If mine ends up looking half as good as this I'll be happy. I tagged you in my first episode, don't know if you got the tag?
No, i don't think i saw it?
@@Mr-Oddie damn, thought it would have notified you, I can send you a link if you want.
