Hi I'm from Beaumont Texas not 1000s of miles away from you Fr. Stephen. I've started listening lately and have been really enjoying it. I'm about seven episodes in. My only problem I'm having with the shows is there is no mention of sources. I would like to see the source martial to go further in depth. That way when I'm taking to others about this I would like to be able to back it up with the source material. I realized tonight how hard it is to find it own my own. I tried looking up what you spoke about in a previous episode where Sumerians got their next king from sexual ritual with their diety embodying the current king and sleeping with the temple prostitute, or something like that. The Anunnaki would be like the watchers / sons of God and their semi Devine offspring the new king / Nephilim. It would be nice to have sources listed with links to documents in the description area of the videos. Thanks for all your info. Would love to make it out to your church someday, my visit to my local orthadox church wasn't great.
Hi, I am not Fr. Stephen, but your question prompted me to deep dive more into the fertility ritual that the Sumerian kings engaged in. You can find more by looking into the sacred marriage rite of Inanna/Ishtar and Dumuzi.
@@AncientFaithMinistries I have done some of my own dives as well inspired by this show, but like @clentlabauve1288 there are sometimes I would appreciate at least some reference points as random searching on the internet can easily get one led astray. Not everything has to be cited, just saying if the fathers ever want to say, "hey, if you'd like to read more, check out..." or even include that on site or in the notes here on youtube, at least 2 of us would love it. Or have Fr Stephen put out a "Lord of Spirits" book which is just a big compiled list of references. 😁
The name 'Artemis' is one iota away from the number of the beast per Greek Gemmatria. Ideology in particular can be idolatrous. For example, in America there is a temptation to idolize the concepts or "liberty" and "freedom". In the French Revolution they even called liberty a goddess and made an actual idol for it tying it to the Roman mystery religion proper. Furthermore, these can become convoluted with Christian faith in a syncretic way and Christianity becomes perverted through the lens of idolatry.
The more knowledgeable of our Calvinist friends do know the Reformed tradition does not repudiate any of the 7 ecumenical councils, including the 7th. But these seem to be rare Calvinist friends
The main issue with Calvinism is it is missing 'Theosis' and does not flesh out the concept of the' inner Christ'. There is nuance between "worship" and "veneration". I can venerate someone that is holy because of the degree of the manifestation of their inner Christ ;however, worshiping a "holy" person because they are "so holy" is idolatrous.
Idol worship is that of chemosh, baal etc etc. They made human sacrifice to them and that's why God wiped them out. They made idols if these gods and worship through human sacrifice
Please change your thumbnail picture. I am not keen on all the electrons and photons on my screen being organised to form it. It may look cutesy and primitive and wrong in a humorous way, but these days there are so many things we ought to avert our gaze from.
Hi Gillian, can you explain a little more? Is it the art in the thumbnail that you’re talking about or the way that the art is appearing on your screen?
@@AncientFaithMinistries Sure, Watching on UA-cam means that I get full-frontal Moloch on my screen! OK I can hide it by putting up another page from the browser, but it is kind of still there. I am not scared of the image. I just don't want my computer to be an imager of that image. I hope that makes sense. In many ways our computer screen is a window on the world, and basically there are some things that I would prefer not to see gazing back at me at any time but especially during a broadcast of a religious nature. Thank you for your concern.
@@EvonRomano-ge2og Yes there are 2 at my church, the one talking to St Joseph at the Nativity, and the demons in the pit in the Resurrection fresco. They are part of the wider narrative of the victory over the demons. Having a picture of Moloch staring at me whilst I listen to Fr Stephen is very different! Never mind, I went back to listening via Ancient Faith Radio where you don't get this.
29:43 if this is the Judeo Christian critique against idolatry, it's a piss poor one. If Eucharist has the power to grant eternal life, how can it be desecrated by miscreants? If it is the body of Christ, why doesn't it stop itself from becoming poop after digestion or spilling over the floor? If the icons of the saints have the divine grace to intercede on your behalf, why do they need to be dusted or cleaned? If cross can grant you salvation why can't it stand up when toppled over? As a Pagan, I'm surprised at the lack of self reflection Christians have.
The last few minutes of this podcast is exactly what I needed to hear
Kudos to Fr. Stephen for the Nine Inch Nails reference at the end, a very appropriate song to quote for this subject.
If Fr Stephen ever reads this, we would love to someday hear your Miami lecture on witchcraft and idolatry! 🙏
I once went to a church in Macedonia the whole church was carved biblical pictures, part of it was lost in a fire

Does anyone know if far eastern idols/pagan practices were the same as near eastern?
Dear father's, why don't you pray before you begin each teaching session?.....

There some people who Idolise rock and pop stars and sports stars, and even the pope. The pope is a good example, is that idol worship?

Did Jesus Christ say call no man father? I say Especially the men in black.
Those danged anarchist early church saints.

Because you're missing the entire point. The irony.
@@harvestcrops3983 It has no point other than thinking Pagans were so stupid that they couldn't discern that Inanimate objects aren't animate.
