My mercury is in the 12th house. I have love/hate feelings with that placement.
I have Mercury in the 9th house of Gemini and I focus more on Mercury because I have a very strong Mercury influence. Having Virgo Raising and Sun Sign in Gemini with Mercury conjunction. Being born on a Wednesday and a 5 vibration. I am known to be very Mercurial to the point of being cunning if I don't get my way which is denying me freedom and communication. You are so right about what you said about Mercury in the 9th house.
Scorpio Rising. Pluto in Virgo, just past 0 degrees in the 10th conjunct Leo mc. Cancer Sun in the 8th. Moon and Mars in Aries in the 5th. Venus in Gemini in the late degrees of 7th. Leo Midheaven. Mercury and Uranus conjunction in the 9th house of Leo. I love having verbal tete--a--tete with my husband in a fun way. Like to experiment with creative writing. Also, I appreciate people who have a playful sense of humor. At times, I can be a bit of a chameleon. Takes time for a person to see all facets of my personality. Don't often reveal my true self to others. Sometimes I feel insecure in letting others see the real me. But when I feel strongly about something and I am comfortable in my surroundings, my communication can be a bit on the dramatic side. Mercury in 12th house, the house is shared by Scorpio and Libra, but the Mercury is in Scorpio side. My thoughts fly around in the middle of other person's sentence, or sometimes middle of my sentence! And very often if there is a group, I find myself thinking like why I don't have anything to say while other people are having a conversation...But I make people laugh! And I like to just dive deep, not afraid of talking about things that matter.. sometimes I feel like I might say things too blunt, too honest, because I'm not afraid to say how I really feel about things..but I'm getting better with that, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings...
I think this placement gives me the greatness of never being bored. I get lost in my head very easily. If not focused I can easily just lay in my bed hours or even whole days and just think, or daydream.
Something embarrassing, if somebody asks where is some bus stop/something nearby my home, I don't know. Even if I would go pass it all the time, I'm too much in my head to notice what's surrounding me...

Just figured out my real chart yesterday after trying to do so for nearly 16 months after figuring out that my parents lied to me about my birthday. Turns out I was born Sept 1st, not Oct 4th. Which completely changes all my personal planets and rising sign. I'm a Virgo with Mercury, Venus and Mars all in Leo and an Aries moon and Sag rising. Mercury in the 8th (as you might've figured).

Mercury doesn't really deal with love like that but Venus does. Mixing up things in the wrong areas can make confuse people. Look at the alignments and the sign on Mercury and Venus to see how you communicate love.

I was weirded out by the description of merc in cap. I chose my partner based on growing together from nothing. We literally began our life broke and happy,excited for an adventure.
