It’s such a strange thought to consider that before 2013, this was a lost story and seen as the black sheep of the season, but now it’s one of, if the not, the best story of the season. Also, the director of this story was a man called Barry Letts. He’s gonna be an important figure later on in the series.
yep, it's why it's such a shame so many stories remain lost. This went from being an episode people disliked to one of the all time great Troughton episodes. Even if his mexican accent sounds more like welsh. So much is lost when episodes only have the telesnaps remaining.
1:22 don’t take my word for it because I haven’t checked this, but I heard somewhere that this was actually Patrick Troughton‘s idea to jump in the sea which just makes it all the more adorable. I’m also fairly sure this serial is set in 2018 from the licensing on the helicopter and it’s feels a little close to home with the political commentary.
In 2013 I was SO excited when I heard they'd found Web of Fear and when I heard they'd found Enemy of the World I was kinda non-plussed. Felt a bit, "oh- ok I guess." And it turned out to be BANGING. So glad we got more Troughton. Hoping more missing eps are found one day. Nice to see you back dude. Happy new yeARRRRRR!!
Episode 3 was the only existing episode for years until 2013 when the rest of the serial was found at a long since abandoned TV station in Nigeria along with the next serial except Episode 3 when i first saw this story for the first time in it's entirety i was so excited and really got a good joy out of it so much so that i was hoping for more lost episodes to turn up it sadly hasn't since happened....yet.
This just reminded me how good I found this story to be when I first watched it. It's tremendous, with very clever twists to the plot as you saw. Deborah Watling (Victoria) did once name this story as the one story she didn't care for out of all the stories she was in. I don't know why she didn't like it, but it definitely has more on-screen gore than is usual for Doctor Who. Although classic Doctor Who episodes around this time could involve a lot of destruction in the storyline, it's rare for such a depiction of physical violence, use of fake blood etc. In fact, I think this is the first time we see this in Doctor Who.
When I was a wee pup in 2004 and Dad got me the Lost in Time DVD with lots of odd episodes from missing stories, ep 3 of this was among them aaaaaaand… well on its own it’s a bit shite right with lots of bad editing and pacing. No one really cared about it at all. Then in 2013 the whole thing turned up and everyone was like “yay??? I guess” but my god, it was soooooooo good like it slapped my non-existent titties around so hard! So glad you’re back friend!!!!!! The next one’s also a fav of mine 🎉
Good to have you back bro. Like your purple hat. It was a thrill to have any missing story back. Episode 1 felt like an epic adventure film. Loved Astrid. Both she and Fariah were excellent female characters. Keep going on the who journey. Some great stories await you and a lot of fun and silliness. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you.

Hover Boats (Hovercraft) are a real mode of transport, not made up for this serial. It sounded like you didn't know what one was?
I did not know it was a real thing
