i've been wanting to do this for a while myself but smaller i.e plunge pool size thats heated. Cant wait to see the end result. Can you let us know what the upkeep is like too? Also what did you do the 3d renders in?
Hi, so the pool is still in progress and being built. I'm hoping that the heating cost will be substantially less than my last block built plunge pool. That pool was 5x3x1.4. I did the renders in Blender 3d a steep learning curve but as all this is square and nothing is rounded, it was easier to do the renders. I'll almost certainly post details of the upkeep once this pool is in use!
Hi, I bought the forms from ICF central. They are not sealed to the base as I don't need waterproofing there really (I think!). As my waterproof membrane will be inside the inner insulation wall. And I'm undecided on the membrane. Possibly going with basecrete. Once I'm confident on the approach I'll share in an upcoming vid!
@@hansendsouza6440 skimmer was a hayward standard vinyl 3111. Return inlets were flotide adjustable inlets 50mm x 2". Can't find a model number. I'll be listing all parts when I present my coatings 👍
@@RichDoesDIY Are you sure its not the 3119? that looks like the wide intake version. Was there any reason you did not choose the wider intake version?
Hi Rich, This couldn’t really have come at a much better time for me. I watched you’re last video about the pool at you’re last house a long time ago and have wanted to build my own for a long time but am finally in a position where I can start to seriously think about it and need more detail than you’re last video so these new ones are perfect, great videos with all the detail needed so far. Thank you. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos and will be taking a lot of information from them so just wanted to say thanks. One question, how much difference in price do you think the icf panels work out compared to the blocks and also where abouts did you go to get your icf panels? Thanks again 👍🏻
Thanks for the kind comments Michael. Progress isn't as fast as I'd like but it's getting there. Good question RE: Price difference. So.... Roughly, and this is very rough! I'd say the walls are triple the cost of normal Hollow blocks with vertical steel rebar like the last pool. I am keeping much more detailed costs this time so will have that detail later. My primary reasons for going ICF were ease of build and the insulation properties. Getting my Nudura panels from ICF Central. Really helpful staff there as well! Also, I'd encourage you to consult a structural engineer to specify floor slab and ICF block thickness and steel specification in accordance with ground conditions 🙂
Hi. When digging the hole, would you recommend digging it slightly bigger to allow for tapering etc or would it be ok to dig at the exact size ready for the icf blocks?
Good question, So, based on my research, I think if it was all done to a fairly high premium standard with a marble style finish internal pool finish, and porcelain tiles and glass balustrade, I am guessing it would be on the upper end of this range - £30,000 - £60,000. If I choose to go with a lower end internal pool finish like epoxy paint, and a more budget patio surface, Possibly on the lower end of the range. It's hard to say as I've not got a quote from a professional builder as I'd certainly not be able to afford it! I have found some information that would suggest that an 11 metre x 5 metre pool only (no landscaping) would cost anything from £80,000. Not sure how accurate that is though!

Hi Tina. Using Nudura 203mm core ICF. Roughly 7m3 concrete. A big factor behind the decision was that there is no heavy lifting involved. But the insulation properties are also a massive bonus 👍

Hi Ashley, I'll be digging the hole in the next video. But yes ill be digging it a bit larger so the foundation can extend past the walls

I had a ballpark quote for a very similar 6x3m semi in ground ICF pool from a reputable pool builder - c£60k (I’m aiming for nearer 10)

Hi, So the main heating will come from a 19kw inverter air source heat pump. I'll also have a GeoBubble (or similar) solar cover as well.
