Honestly one of the best compliments I ever got was from a district nurse. I had long term complicated care they needed to come twice daily to help with, and they were amazing, I’d chat to them or just straight up say “I’m really tired” or “I’m not my best today” and apologise for not being social those days. One day a nurse smiled after I had to call for help late at night and I apologised for being awkward, “No love honestly, you’re our easiest patient, your treatment isn’t the easiest but you’re not rude, you’re not mean, you’re honest with us if anything changes, you offer us food and drink, it’s a delight to come here especially after some of our other patients. Please never feel you’re putting us out, we love to come and see you, make sure you’re okay”.
And I cried for like an hour after that

As a chronically ill patient, I'm deeply appreciative of the kind, patient, highly competent receptionists and office managers I've met on my journey to diagnosis and (continued) treatment. While I always bring specific notes, and make sure to verbally express my gratitude to all healthcare admin staff, your video pointed out things I could do better to make their jobs easier.
    Thank you, Mira. :)

When I worked in a kitchen, a customer called in because they wanted to order some food for delivery to a friend who had a death in the family. The customer "couldn't make it down to us" before the delivery they wanted to schedule in 2 or 3 days, and they didn't want to pay by card over phone. I had to explain to them that if they are buying catered food delivered to someone else, we can't fulfill and deliver the order until they paid for it. They ended up giving their credit card number

After two hours (!) I was like "Ok this cant be real, I am going to ask whats going on", so I went back to the reception only to be told that my receptionist quit her job pretty much directly after I checked in (not related though, just coincidence) and she didnt actually check me in. So much wasted time 😂

One very simple day of a phone customer service girl....to every person doing this job, you are a hero, truly :)
i ONE TIME answered the phone where i work, ONCE and i nearly started a war with a Clinique. They wanted very specific stitches for me to bring them, stiches that i told them they we don't have ready for sale/delivery, so i'd have to go by them and then come to the Clinique (which was no problem) while our offices was about 40klm away + another 10 klm to go buy it and i had to do all that in 20 minutes (this is the actual problem) and they would pay later (which is very common for Cliniques and hospitals)......After emphasizing that this time table is not possible, they replied that they do not care, they have to have them in 20 minutes, so i went like, OK I'm guessing you have already send a chopper to pick me up and she went huh ? Well how else you want to cover about 50klm in 20 minutes with a stop to get the stiches and the traffic. She asked what chopper am i talking about and if this was humor on my part and i replied that i literally believe that she is doing a prank call because there is FLAT ZERO chances that a doctor, an educated person, with a degree, could do something SO FREAKING BRAINDEAD STUPID like starting a surgery without checking that he/she has the correct stiches to stich up the patient when they're done, in order to be in such a hurry to have them .......right ?????? RIIIIIGHT ???? OMFG you, actually get PAID for this :| ?? She replied to someone (probably the doctor) that we don't have them and she hanged up...
My Boss came to me, hugged me, told me that an answer like this is what he wanted to shout himself at a costumer for YEARS, told me to go home because he gives me the rest of the day off and gave me out of his wallet 20$ to buy a pizza or something to eat (no i'm not joking 😂😂 ) but he also wanted me to NEVER ANSWER ANY PHONE AT WORK EVER AGAIN 😂😂😂😂no i wasn't fired, I'm still working there

Not a medical story, but Food Service. A customer had come in the night before, paid with a 50, and got the correct change. The next day, the customer and their adult son came in, claiming that they'd paid with a $100 and had been shorted $50. My boss checked the safe, and the numbers for the night before, everything matched as being paid with a 50, which the receipt showed. Customer started yelling, so I (6'5") stepped around the line, and asked my boss if everything was alright. Customer stepped back again, then started accusing ME of having been the one that took the money, (I had actually not even worked the day before, and never worked the night shift) I kinda laughed at her, and explained just how wrong she was. Lady went back to complaining we'd stolen $50 from her. Boss checked the cameras, and SAW that it was paid with a $50, and the lady still kept trying to say it wasn't. We explained everything, and asked the customer to leave. She started cursing, at which point the phones came out, and we informed her that if she DIDN'T leave, we'd have the police eject her and have her tresspassed. (arrested for tresspassing, and never allowed back). She stormed off with her son in tow. She kept calling back about the issue, just generally harrassing the store. The next day, her SON came back with a weapon on his hip (not drawn, but visable), he started shouting about the money, at which point, with the weapon on display and the immediately hostile behavior, my boss called the police, and the guy ended up actually in jail.
Edit: Just want to say I know that pain, I used to work in customer service/tech support for a number of years. It's sad that food service isn't nearly as stressful. Also I LOVE that keyboard, so pretty

@@musingmira entitlement culture is a massive part of the issue. She had escalated so far, I really don't think she could have backed down.

The amount of times I have uttered the phrase “….. no I can’t. I can’t just make the doctor do that” in my life is too many to count.

Honestly, I always try to be a good customer/patient because of how notoriously terrible any service job tends to get. And whenever I'm actually *told* that a service worker likes me, I'm both delighted and heartbroken.
But yes, it's soothing as hell.
    *EDIT*
The way the hope and light leaves your eyes as you realise the man didn't finish filling in the form was too hecking real and WOOF- Reminds me way too much of my nurse friend, my retail friend and myself when I was on door greeting during the Christmas season. 😂😂😂

as person who works as a call responder (not First responder or health care) People who call you then you tell them your not what they need and they get mad at you is as frustrating if not more than doing customer service because its always like "There is so much shit I could say, but this is my only source of Income so I can't."
