Little did everyone know is why toof kept pushing them on wild goose chases. He made 20xs off the show than he would mining. The longer he keeps the show going the more he makes.
A best friend doesn't walk out on you when you need em most, that guy is a total coward.
This guy also has a family he has to look after.
And the thing is, Dodge went to search for better ground to mine and called the team back! That is why he left, not because he was a "bad friend".
Well what do you expect. Most of Todd's crew have been with him through thick and thin year after year. And he's failed them every time. Then at the start of next year he'll call everyone up begging them to come back and how it was all his fault and he'll take responsibility for it blah blah. But honestly if this is your living you got to take of your family first and for most. If I went through year after year of this and getting closer and closer to going completely broke and potentially losing his family's safe home, I would leave too. Poor Freddy might be Todd's best friend but at some point you got to draw the line if they are completely dragging you down. Freddy's given Todd a million chances and it never works. I understand why he left. I think it's unfair that you call him a coward for doing what he needs to do to survive and support his family.
At what point do you put the needs of yourself over your friends? It's not like this was the first time that Todd dicked them around and found nothing.
They're on top of the gold chain (if you get what i mean) and big numbers to us is small to them. Knowing that the price for the things they need to get gold is high.

They gotta pay for fuel and wages. You know how much fuel those machines use? You know how much it costs to get fuel delivered to you in the areas they're mining? That's why. Those machines burn like $1000 a day in fuel
Well one year parker spent 2 million on fuel alone
Rock trucks get about 4 mpg, heavy equipment, much less.
That's why they count it as hours of operation not mpg. When Parker says their fuel bill is 130K for a week, he ain't lying..

Jimmy Dorsey was the first person to see Todd Hoffman's fails, the only reason he was successful a couple times was because he had powerhouses with him like Dave Turin, Juan Ibarra, Freddy Dodge and Mitch Blaschke with him, now I rooted for his crew in the beginning but after that Guyana bullshit and him being a lousy leader telling his crew to do something when he himself wouldn't do really made me hate him as a gold miner, I got so mad when he told that one guy to dive into dirty ass water to get the pump hose filter unstuck and then laugh when he came back up and that raged at Todd and said " nothing I hate more then a leader telling his crew to do something he wouldn't do" really pissed a lot of people including myself off after that shit, fuck him I'd walked the fuck out right their and then
In one of those episodes, Todd decided to 'switch' from gold to diamonds so small they wouldn't cover a gnats ass.

I can’t lie, I’m disappointed in the Hoffman crew. When the going gets tough, the tough *get going.* I get that their employees but they should be friends first, you don’t wait for shit to hit the fan and then leave your friends to deal with the mess. It’s your collective mess and you should be sorting it out together

We only got 100 ounces (around $100k) this week, this is terrible.. You may not be on track to hit your goal, which is extremely high, but you definitely covered your running costs and did not lose money. This has to be for dramatic effect. The kid used to be shocked to get a few ounces and while running costs are much higher now, he is still making a lot of profit at the end of the season and has no reason to be upset to the point of fighting with employees over it. If he were losing money, that'd be different.
