As a conservative myself, I find it very upsetting how this interview unfolded. While I do not agree financially on a lot of NDP policies, I can entirely understand where Mr. Singh stands on these issues. It is unfair to grill him and frankly speak over the leader as he answers the question being asked. This took away from the voters who had questions, and showed the clear difference between how CBC interviews NDP candidates compared to Liberal candidates.

I disagree. I appreciate when Rosie goes hard on leaders. They need to clearly state their positions so I can know what their voting for. I’m an NDP vote, and liked how Singh handled the hard wuestions
I disagree completely. Like most politicians, he didn’t answer many of the questions. It really bothered me that he was completely unable to take an active position as to what he would do with the pipeline. Rosie gave him several opportunities to provide a real answer. On this basis, he lost me as a potential supporter. I guess this intervention actually did accomplish something. I’m not able to vote NDP.
Just another conservative dumping on CBC. They will never let go of their tried and true argument that CBC is Liberal through and through, and responsible for an overwhelming majority of anti-conservative sentiment seen in Canada.

I live on disability and i get 400$ a month after rent and i get that much because i live in social housing. 2200 a month would quintuple my income. I could actually do something other than listen to youtube

As a voter, I want to know what the politicians will do for me. I don’t care what they feel about topics or theoretical situations.
If Jagmeet doesn’t have the answers and doesn’t have the guts to say “I don’t know but my team and I will look into it and get back to you about it”, then he’s both ill prepared as a politician and slithery like a snake (or he’s just saying things that sound good with no actual plan behind the things he says)

Easy answer to how Rosenary "gets away" with it- its done on purpose. CBC funding goes up when a liberal is elected, and drastically down when they do not. Follow the money.

Rose is a journalist PERIOD-and a LIBERAL she needs to shut her opinion and let the PEOPLE ask the questions. @@zeusc7140 Welfare does that already. We should be providing jobs not paychecks. CERB is doing that too. Removal of money from a person with 20 million in the bank and taxing him on only 10 million is NOTHING for them and they will just make more money somewhere else to make up the difference.
That money can be used to create job, build homes, fix roads, invest in Canadian manufacturing, etc. Invest in Canada and those who live in it and profit from it should help maintain and build it up and not just live off the backs of others.

Lots of small restaurants have nothing more than an order counter and a self seating area. No hostess. No door staff.

I get it that CBC has to vet the people who will ask the questions but can we not kid ourselves that they were hand chosen? Look at their 'main concerns' that coincidently match up with national debate topics... not sure how I feel about this.

Why is “undecided voters” in air quotes? Voters undecided between the left wing parties are still undecided voters. And voters that lean towards a party but aren’t 100% are also undecided votes.

The wealthy do, by making the right investments and managing their businesses effectively. If everyone could do that then everyone would be wealthy, but that's not the case.

I've watched this and the PM interviews with Ms Barton. I don't want to see the mediator taking more time with the candidates than the undecided voters. This is supposed to be for the votes not news reporters.

I loved so much of of what Mr. J has to say! Refreshing to hear someone stand up for Canadians even when the Interviewer is slapping Constitution rules in his face. He handled it all so well and his character really shines through. Canadians need a Leader who creates policies to benefit the people, not a leader who passes the buck by saying its not his job. Note to Rosie: staawwwp interrupting the speaker - its YOUR job to facilitate the conversation so Canadians can hear what your interviewee has to say. I was frustrated more than once by your continual interruptions while Mr. Singh was speaking. This is not 'sharp minded' like how you likely want it to come across, just plain rude. Other than that, a good platform. Be sure to respect the guest voters as well and let them wrap up their questions.

So l ask when the price of housing shot up in the spring on the cost of lumber which is a commodity by 30% and now that lumber has fallen back to earth how is this even possible as general contractors realstate agents and property taxes rep people and you all say you care about affordable housing when this is theft

Everyone works for it, but everyone only has 24 hours in a day to make a living. Cost of living is really high these days. I make more than minimum wage and I find it hard financially. I don't even overspend on leisure you know. I can't imagine living on a minimum wage even after it has gone up to 14$ in Ontario. My groceries alone used to be 50$ or less in 2015, now it is 100-120$. My place is about 1500 per month cause I've been living there a while but if I were to move out and back in my place goes for 2,000/month. The people who are rich keep getting richer and the middle an lower class are getting poorer. It is very depressing. Even if you go to school to get a higher paid job there is only a certain amount to go around. This whole work hard for money doesn't work because the rich who own the money set how much most of the people get paid and well even though some companies are setting good example like shopify, most do not folllow that trend. So how hard do you expect people to work? Cause you can work all the time, but what are you living for at that point?
What about Singh breaking Covid rules?

Finland has a company that makes car batteries for EV that are 100% recyclable. The company is growing very quickly and now supplies most of the batteries for the EU. We could do the same thing here.

I like his ambitions, but he seemed so unprepared for that interview. Rosemary Barton is politically, the best interview in Canada, and Jagmeet Singh was absolutely unprepared. He seems very much a provincial politician rather than a national one.
