Maestro Pavarotti still lives in the minds of those that love him always! He is a legend and Nessun Dorma still belongs to him! Sella in. Canada 2019...
So human, so accessible, warm and kind. The world is a very unforgiving place without this brilliantly gifted man. R.I.P. Maestro Pavarotti. Greatly missed.
Pavarotti looks so well. 😊 And sadly not long after he passed away. I loved the way he took away the snobbery of opera and brought it to working class to enjoy. The snobs were not happy lol
How lovely was this? The so obvious respect of the good interviewer and the thoughtfulness of Pavarotti's responses made this a lovely session and a treat. Pavarotti left so much of himself with us - both musically and otherwise - his generosity of spirit will be with us for a very long time to come. I loved seeing and hearing this, thank you.
Leo Schofield is a great festival organiser, food critic and, as shown here, a marvellous, empathetic interviewer and displays an extensive, intimate knowledge of music and of Pavarotti's career. He's also an outstanding 'Old Boy' of Lewisham Christian Brothers!
Is it really ten years since he passed? Hard to accept. He was larger than life in every way. The greatest singer of the last hundred years. RIP Maestro.
It’s sad watching this now knowing that the cancer that killed him about a year later was probably developing inside him at this point. What an amazing career he had. One of a kind voice and personality.Very missed in the opera world. I consider him the Mohamed Ali of opera.
Set interview i have ever seen. Interviewing Pavarotti must have overwhelming for the interviewer. It’s like talking to the best there is. Lucky man. Luciano was fantastic. Down to earth and seemed at ease.
Just thinking that he suddenly, inmediately died after his retirement; that he couldn´t enjoy the rest of his life, makes me so sad, almost cry-wishing...
Saudade. Como queria ter te abraçado em vida. Tocado na sua energia.

@@purplescapular4935 Same here. It breaks my heart he’s not here. And I’m so sad I never even had the chance to see him live or just thank him for everything. Born too late for that. I’m now 27 - loving and missing a man I never even met. It’s weird…but still true. I feel the connection and the fact he’s gone hurts.
Tosca in Salzburg with Karajan ,was the last time the Maestro conducted operatic performances at the Easter Festival 1989 .he died in July that year . Tosca was Anna Tomowa- Sintow.
Agreed. The interviewer asks him to tell a story about Pavarotti and Bonynge gossips about how he ate an entire chocolate cake. After all those years performing with him and that is the story you tell?
@Marie Whitbread But he did more or less create the miracle of Joan Sutherland, who might otherwise have lingered around Covent Garden singing Clotilde.
Wonder why it never happened singing with Maria Callas ? Was she playing hard to get ? Was she afraid of his talent and knowledge ? She didn’t suffer fools gladly and didn’t hold back when a tenor would give her a hard time. Even out singing somebody on stage. It would have been great....
Good interview. The interviewer showed genuine respect and was warm and engaging.
And....knowledgeable! Leo is VERY knowledgeable...
@@VE8HL I absolutely agree!

I love and miss Luciano pavarotti so much. He is such a brilliant tenor.
It is hard to believe that Pav is not with us, for he was so full of life.

Opera was created for common people.

When I heard that he had died, I had a good cry and put on my favorite Pavarotti cd.
My absolute favorite singer of any genre!!!!!

14 years...and it's terrible. Miss him so much. He was such a warm, nice person.
15 years without the greatest TENOR on earth. I LOVE him dearly.
The very best tenor of all time

The very best!
What a man, incredible, phenomenal! Thank you!
March 2016. This was a wonderful interview!! Pavarotti was very honest and revealed a lot about his feelings! and in english too!

The Greatest Tenor of all times !
I agree with the interviewer: very unforgiving public those who booed him in those two or three bad nights. Viva Pavarotti.

Same. I actually cries a bit when I thought of him today. I really hope that if there is afterlife that he's in heaven. Miss him so much.
beautiful Interview

Lucky he didn’t know what ‘Ricky’ Bonynge thought of him in his later career. The Bonynge interview on UA-cam is remarkably nasty.
Agreed. The interviewer asks him to tell a story about Pavarotti and Bonynge gossips about how he ate an entire chocolate cake. After all those years performing with him and that is the story you tell?

There were talk, they should have sung a Traviata together, but she had second thoughts, probably not feeling up to her past talent and fame.
