Hey I had a computer exactly like that. I believe that's an HP Pavilion XT 923. I made a power supply out of a PC for an older LCD TV that ran on 12 volts. I took off every one of the wires coming out of it and connected the original power cable for the TV to the 12 volt rail and wired an on off switch to the PS_on green wire and the common wires. It looks very neat. the only wire coming out is the power cable for the TV.
Cool stuff. I have a small bookcase that I have all of electronics in and needless to say they overheat. Now I can use my old PS from my PC and the fans from it to add ventilation to my small cabinet. !!
Great V!deo .... very neat.. thank you man! just want to know , how many 12V device i can use at a same time? if my 4 device all together 200w , needs 10A minimum , do you think it will work safely ? Thanks again ....
plenty of choices from the PC power supply. Still keep old printer etc power bricks often you'll find you'll have a compliment of 6,9,12,18,21 &36 V supplys sitting in your drawers.

Why you did not use limiting resistor 10 ohm 10 watts between 5 volts and ground?
Thanks for the video man, it helped me a lot.
Does the green/black wire bridge have to be conected all the time? or does it just have to be pulsed lets say with a pulse push booton switch? thanks
siegfriedo brabender I would think a pulse would work, what are you trying to turn on for only a few seconds?
doublewide6 Hi just wonderin, cause on the old computer the button to turn it onis just apulse pushbutton. Thanks anywa I enjo your channel!
+siegfriedo brabender pusle buttom givs the signal to motherboard, not to ps. and then motherboard controls the ps :)
It requires an amp to amplify signal and requires special connector on back of audio side.
can it work with an oem car stereo? because I've got a Chrysler rb1 radio i would like to test with a PSU
Can you use a power supply from a house stereo on a car stereo?

mahabubur rahman I'm not sure. Post the question on an electronics forum.
Great video
could write in a paper for example , left side p/c power----- right side car stereo the wires colours ? thanks a lot,
Do you play a banjo on the porch ?
if you don't have the green wire on your power supply it is the grey wire.... put grey and black together and it will work!!
where is the car radio ?
Romy Comla Check my channel search for it any you will see it running.
Thanks very helpful
Can this supply 200 ampere?

Your standard 12V DC wall transformer does not have the wattage to run a car radio, but I know this power supply will.
How do I prevent my settings being lost when I turn off PSU? I don't want it running 365 :)
There must be a way.
sorry....output is 12v..2amp.??...won't overheat it??
where does go the red and blue weire
green and the black wire next to ach ether have to by briged together :)
this is not a car radio its a pc cd drive and the volume controllis the black nob on the front of the cd drive
