iirc this engine is the reason group C was then eventually disbanded. Because this engine regulation are too similiar to F1, so manufacturer decided to just develop the engine for F1 and then tuned down for endurance racing use, which raises development cost significantly

Great start to the weekend, epic video sir!!I honestly don't know why this era of cars wasn't a huge success. Sharing F1 engines should've made it more affordable as the development was already done via F1. Baffling.
Peugeot developed the V10 for Group C, _then_ had to make it work in a more aggressive tune than its original design for F1 in 1994 (their two programmes were one-after-the-other, not simultaneous). It would've saved money for manufacturers already in F1, but if you were starting in Gr.C and didn't want to spend F1-level cash on the engine then it was a tough deal, especially given F1 had a much higher TV profile, so if you were purpose-building a 3.5 V10 then why not just do F1 and not spread money across two programmes? That was Bernie Ecclestone's plan all along, many speculate. If so, his plan successfully lured Peugeot across... for better or worse. Ditto Mercedes, who left Gr.C and (via Ilmor) supplied Sauber F1 for '94, plus McLaren from '95 after the, ahem, Peugeot engine didn't adapt to F1 spec very well...
This engine sounds majestic but at the same time tragic. Because this engine (the regulation, to be exact) sent the whole group C endurance racing to doom

Building an engine capable of running at 12000+ RPM for 24 hours is seriously impressive.
I don't think it would last much longer than 24 hour though. It's no 7.0 V12.

The sound of the 90's ! Both F1 and endurance !
Thanks Robbert !
Another fantastic video as always! Keep up the great cinematographic content.
Thanks a lot for this footage, and also thanks to Erik Maris for driving this car like its supposed to.
Those alpinestars gloves are as sick as the sound. F1 endurance car amazing
Legendary car, with a beautiful V10 sound! Perfect! 😍
How the hell did I not know about this channel before? This and all the other videos are amazing! Totally worth a sub!
It's always a good day when Robbert upload! Great job, as usual! Cheers!

Classic treat from Robbert. Thank you.

lovely car on a lovely track. 10/10!!

The best channel and the best car on one of my favourite track. My dream has finally come true 🥺 Thank you so much Robbert !

To me the Peugeot 908 Hdi is the first Peugeot I think of when it comes to endurance racing, but still, this V10 sound is unmatched!

Sounds exactly like an F1 engine from the early 90s.
That makes perfect sense because this very engine ended up in F1 cars with minor modifications
