Very nice video. My wife, my grandson, and I were sitting at the very end of the runway at the top of the hill. We had a good view of the planes as the flew through the gap in the tree line when they took off but could not see the take off spot or landing spot. Thanks for giving me a better view! Love the engine winding up on plane 44. We named 44 Bumble Bee.
The only Cessnas that were allowed to land at the ultralight strip are the ones invited to participate in the STOL demonstration. Even one or two of them landed on the main runway and taxied to the STOL corral for the competition.
Man some of these are taking off in what looks like just the length of their plane!?? They could land and take off from a building too or anywhere in the world!
These planes need to have a rule that they must have adequate cowl coverage of the engines to protect the audience from parts flying off when they explode the engines. Having no cowl at all should be an obvious danger to the viewers.
Been flying nearly 45 years and 26,000 hrs and have never seen an engine explode and send dangerous shrapnel through people. Not even race car engines. The prop is the most dangerous part. Blades breaking or letting loose would be serious. Even that is rare. Not much you can do about that. Enjoy the show and stop worrying.
I'd hardly think a flimsy sheet metal cowling would be likely to make the slightest difference. There's many aircraft (like the Stearman) that have no cowling at all
Seems like not a huge turnout for the number one STOL show in the world. Perhaps the recent fatalities during competition have persuaded some not to risk it.
@Michael Spunich It was an Invitational demonstration, not a competition. They limited the event to 11 pilots due to the 30min time window that we had to fly.
@@Outdoor_Adventures48 It is really cool! Thank you for posting it. We love flying in these things and I think the turn out was great! Plus, as Jared stated, this was a demonstration, not really a competition, but they did award a prize for 1,2,3 shortest scores. Fun Times! Yee Haww!
#44 @ 4:10 I didn't belong at this part of the air show. However the pa32 wouldn't have impressed him. Please give more me more of where I can find my experimental passion in #44. #stolinallofus

What's not to understand?... They are fun! They require practice and skill... Some pilots like to fly to "get there" because it's a great way to travel. They land at the airport closest to their destination and it's much more enjoyable than driving. Others like to fly to a place they can land that others can't. They pride themselves on their ability to precisely land on their spot and stop before the end of the available patch of relatively flat ground. These are those guys. Just like cowboys of old gathered around to see who could ride the wildest horses or rope the best... They created the Rodeo, pilots created the STOL competitions. Yee Haww!

That's Steve Henry in the Highlander, check out his videos here on UA-cam!
It's so good to see Valentino Rossi enjoying his retirement. Hehe
Thank You for sharing the STOL fun!
46 is one good looking plane, regardless of its performance!
Oh yeah you bet. I got to talking to him and if I’m correct he’s from South Africa. Could be wrong though.
@@Outdoor_Adventures48 You are not wrong... and Warren is a great guy!
Thank you for posting. I guess Hal was there with the "Lawn Mower"
I was waiting for a guy dressed up like Mussolini to run out to the Fieseler Storch, jump into the back and then watch it fly away!
Indeed happened.
A few decades late on this one though. ;-)
Grab him on the fly with a Hook ...
Sounds more like a sport.
I think he has a cut out of Mussolini he puts in the passenger seat🤣
I'll have to think about getting a guy for that... ha ha ha
Just not quite the same without DRACO! Hurry up Mike!! Your fans miss ya!
44 looked and flew a lot like Draco.
I was thinking it would be cool to see a storch and then there was one. I'm subscriber number 78.
Thank you! I love flying it.
That was Frigging awesome!
Can we also see these flying low pass, upside down, for a change ?!
Is it just me or are there green laser spots pointing at the ground and planes? Around the 8:00 mark.
I went over there several times to try to get my 7GCBC Citabria in, and they said no. And this video starts off with Cessnas?!? Wtf.

i can listen to them rev up every single day if i didn't had to work
What kind of engines are in these things? They don't all sound like Rotax.
Some of them are rotax. Some aren’t.
I was hoping to see Scrappy in a power pull STOL test..
I feel like there was a number of people that wanted that.
Man some of these are taking off in what looks like just the length of their plane!?? They could land and take off from a building too or anywhere in the world!
That's what makes it so FUN!
Falo do Brasil muito legal esse avião vontade de dar uma volta uma muntada

Liberals are far more dangerous

@Lynn Kramer
Why don't you go for some mechanic internship and come back later when you know something.
That's not a takeoff, it's more a bounce from standstill 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙏
Can I use some of these for my TikTok?
Um… No thank you. Thank you for asking though.
Why is this so exiting to everyone?
Pilots understand how difficult those maneuvers are..
It's very skill oriented and the action is up close and easily viewed by spectators.
Beautiful weather…
Anyone know what model that #46 plane is? It looks like a Cessna 140 with a different tail.
It's a Cessna 180.
Number 44 unbeliveble !

Honestly I don’t really know. I just thought it would be really cool to film this and post it on UA-cam.

Was this Friday night? I think I missed this because we left on Friday. Although, we didn't stay very late on thursday either.
I believe this was Tuesday. We did this Demo Mon, Tues, Thurs, & Friday.

2 stroke. End of story.
None of these are 2 stroke actually. There are some Rotax 4 stroke 912 and one Yamaha Apex on #44
Same crap year in year out…
what? The crap coming out of your ears?
Change the channel!
Exactly. 100% skill for landing 0% for takeoff. Zero consequence. Put a picnic table out there and see who can land closest to the far side.
Exactly. 👉
Always enjoyed it better with some Courvoisier and lady parts.
