The meaning of the song is that an artist (in the video they are circus people) needs art and the muse to live and die like a king. Marlena is precisely the muse, and she sings it precisely 'show this people things beauty'. You don't have to be rich to be a king, you have to have art and artistic inspiration close to you.

About the meaning of the video, Damiano himself explains it, in the video "Morirò da re - the making of".
He says: "We have decided to create this sort of double world: a world, at the beginning of the video, where all is sad, and another world, wonderfully happy, and that's a freaks' world. The basic meaning is: "Do whatever the f... you want, and you'll always be happy!". "
By the way: Måneskin themselves wrote the video.

About the song / video (from what I found online, not my words!): the song underlies how soul is changing, and that appearances are just a prejudice to fight and defeat, without being afraid to celebrate own nature. Video portrays Ethan (with the snakes) as a nature warrior and an ambassador of kindness. Thomas portrays his madness, a transformist and supernova that shines. Vic is the perfect combination between the profane and sacred, her white feather wings reborn as a phoenix. And Damiano as a superb drag queen, proud to walk on the carcasses of Hate and Prejudice. [Yes, that his indeed Damiano in those heels at the 9:48 point in your video here!]

Tip for trying to learn Italian: once you get the pronunciation of the letters and some combinations down you basically pronounce all the letters in the word as it is, not like French and English where is more fluid and flexible. So for Ciao, it would be C= ch as in chew (ts), i = like ee in meet (but you can’t really hear it), a = like the a in apple and o= as on omega. Hope it helps.

    • @andrearegis1356
      @andrearegis1356 3 роки тому +5

And "ciao" is a friendly and informal way of greeting somebody else. It can be used at any time during the day. Buongiorno (good morning), buon pomeriggio (good afternoon) or buonasera ( good evening) all are more polite and formal ways, just like in English. Instead you can say "goodnight" ( Buona notte) to whoever you f.. want...
Ciao is like simply saying "hi" or "hello", never to be followed by buongiorno, etc....Often in Italy you have to ask somebody else's permission for using "ciao" and referring to them in the 2nd person "you" (tu), otherwise you must speak in the 3rd person "Lei" as a sign of respect. I know it can sound weird to you, but that's the way it works in Italy... Still often, for example when somebody younger than you is talking to you in 3rd person, you may ask him or her to leave aside all that formality and start using a more friendly way to relate to each others , i. e. "Mi puoi dire ciao!" = "you can say to me ciao"..a way of breaking the ice...
Otherwise here in Italy we are all "her majesty the queen or his majesty the king" 🙂
In France they still use the 2nd plural person "vous".... Once, not too many years back in history, let's say till the first part of the 20th century also in Italy the people used "voi" (vous), but then after slowly it has been replaced by "Lei", but in Naples. The "napolitano" dialect for many Italians should be considered and reconised by all means a proper language in its own.
I am not from Naples tought . I am from the Piedmont region, North western Italy, near the French border, in the f.. ing mountains.
Now, just after writing all these things to you, more than Italian or Piemontese, I feel like a cheeky, parochial, scottish peasant... Sorry, luckily you are from England...
      Ciao...

Just found your channel tonight, because you've found Maneskin, my new favorite band, and I don't say this lightly but these guys are about to bump Iron Maiden off my top spot who's occupied it since 1982!
Although, I have many favorite Maneskin songs, this one, is too but "La parole lontane" is tied for 1st. Yet both "ZeB" and their cover of "Beggin' "are creeping closer!
So, as of 11:55pm Eastern Standard Time in the USA (East Coast), I am your newest sub! Your content delivery is real. Slow down, Shug, coz sometimes you speak way too fast, like my daughter who was born in September, 1991, so now I am wondering if you are near her age. 😀
    Rock on,
    Aszneth (from Florida)
    😀🤘
PS: Isn't Thomas such an excellent young shredder?! And Ethan just beats the absolute HELL outta his kit!
Vic also has the most funky bass riffs with that "dirty bass" sound that all great rock bands need IMHO. Not heard a bad song yet after six months of listening, altho in their early days, a couple songs were heavy on synthesizers and mixing boards. But hey, I know we can't shove our new favorite ppl into a specific music genre and I love that! I don't even mind the rap parts of their songs and I absolutely DETEST rap!

In another song he talks about sometimes feeling like he's in a circus, and how he's glad to be there even if he no longer enjoys it. So the way I interpret it, although he's saying in the lyrics he wants to go forward and be a King and he'll be able to do it if she's next to him (his muse Marlena), there are times he doesn't really like it any more, because it's like being in a circus. The coordination between the lyrics and the video is both profound and really subtle, imo.
Ciao is CHOW, like the dog, you know? :) It can be hello or good-bye, but it's less used, at least in my area than foreigners think. I would say BWON JORNO, or Salve (SAL VAY). For all pronunciations in any language you can google the word and request the pronunciation...Italian word Ciao or Salve- Pronunciation.

Actually, La paura del buio is about being afraid of the unknown, so what he means in that song is being in a state supposed fun that's not really good anymore just because you're used to it and you're afraid to move on. But in this video the "freak world" is the one where they're happy and self-fulfilled.
If you want to know more about it, the "making of" of Morirò da Re is a video of a few minutes here on YT. In that one Damiano explains that they came up with the idea themselves, and the meaning is, simply, "do the f*ck you want and you'll always be happy".

So in Italian the letter c has two sounds depending on the letters that follow:
C followed by i, e, is read with a soft soiund like "charm"
c followed by a,o,u, hi, he is a hard sound like k (as in car)

Also the guys with the Native American make up and the snakes it’s the drummer Ethan. Much better pronunciation, practice makes perfection. Also if you know your vowels and consonants phonetically it’s easier to say Italian words. Reason being when you say CIAO for example it will be easier to say instead of having to write it differently to be able to pronouncing it properly. I hope I made sense. But keep at it and you will do it.
