Really enjoyed this one ☺️. I had this train set back In 1988 for my birthday and it was one of the best sets I had. I remember laying it on Lego mats to keep it clean as I didn't have room for a permanent layout at the time 😊. Please do more classic train sets. Peter.
I love you're channel Dan. This midnight freight set is fab. It's definately one of the best classic sets. I must get myself one. Thank you for all your content. Keep up the good work.
Happy 50th episode, I still have this set in my mums loft. Unfortunately, the box has gone, but I still have all the rest of the set. I'll have to get it down and set up for my kids to enjoy like I did 👍
This was the set I started with so many many years ago! I'm in the process of rebuilding and superdetailing my 58 at the moment, which is proving to be somewhat of a challenge... A word re. motors. The motor that is fitted in that version is the Type M motor. The Type 7 is a drop in replacement, but has much larger magnets, and was fitted to the later 58s and mounted flipped through 90 degrees so the narrower side is pointed upwards. The Type 7 motor can be fitted to this same bogie in the same position as the older motor, and should be a significant improvement in performance.
Hi Dan and congratulations on your 50th episode of Trash to Track, like many others, I really enjoy this series you put together and watch every single one. Here’s to the next 50! 👏👏👏. Cheers. …………Graham
By far the most satisfying trash to track to date well done dan I have two 58s including 58007 in rail freight grey I find they run lovely and smooth at medium speeds due to low gearing and nice smooth motor 👍
Pinions and gear wheels hahaha...glad to be of assistance.. Your videos are a pleasure to watch Dan. And without the unnecessary opinions and arrogance of OOBill. More professional a job too. It's particularly nice to have given the whole set a refresh, not just the loco. Regards Gary
Thanks to you mate. Lots of fun. People criticize the tension lock couplings, but they really do work very well for shunting. Can you do some videos on the garden railway ? I’m planning for my retirement layout which will be a permanent garage layout with a tunnel through the wall to a garden loop for the summer, so I’d be very interested in any tips for the building of the garden loop.
Great video. I just started running my 1981 Hornby set with steel track. Took some cleaning but it works. Would you recommend consigning the track to scrap heap?

Fluff in the mechanism. You've got one of Sam's cast offs. Although, apparently his carpets are non shedding and perfect.
Of course.
Really enjoy these videos have you ever thought about building your own nickel plating setup plenty videos showing how to do it
