Unrepeatable and show winning Mk2 Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia with only two owners from new.
EQUIPMENT
Laminated windscreen, all-round tinted glass, childproof locks on rear doors, bright grille surround, protective bumper inserts with overriders, tobacco vinyl roof, bright exhaust trim, ghia badging, tachometer, trip recorder, chrome gearshift lever, cut pile carpet, loop pile carpet on foot of doors, head restraints, real wood fascia, remote control drivers door mirror, quartz clock, vanity mirror on sun visor, glove box.
EXTERIOR
The exterior of this Mk2 Escort is impeccable in every respect. Finished in Diamond White it has a deep, gloss shine which is amazing and an absolute pleasure to polish. The colour code and description sticker is still present in the spotless boot. The Tobacco vinyl roof is unmarked. Supplying Ford Dealer, M & J Quick Ltd pressed aluminium number plates are present. This Dealer branding even extends to the Tax disc holder and window sticker for the true enthusiast. No marks, dings, blemishes or imperfections can be found. It has no stone chips. All the trim is perfect, window rubbers are black and all decals are correct and present including the Ghia badges. The bronze tinted glass is mark free but a few marks can just be seen on the front screen. Paperwork included in the comprehensive history file reveals that the car was treated to Cadulac corrosion application at a cost of £28.75 in addition to Zibart treatment when new. The Zibart plug holes can be seen in all the doors and sills explaining why when detailed in 2010 only two new outer wing panels were fitted. This nut and bolt detailing extends to the under body allowing onlookers to be amazed when mirrors are placed under this vehicle if the new owner chooses to show the car in this way. A very slight colour mismatch exists.
INTERIOR
The interior of this Escort Ghia is outstanding and as new. The twin reclining front seats are covered in the luxurious Crushed Velour/Verona Chocolate Fabric with no damage. All the headlining is tight and clean, all the gauges including the fascia mounted clock operate as does the two speed heater fan. There is a minor mark on the passenger sunvisor. The boot area including carpet, spare wheel and tools are as new. This car really is a beautiful, unspoilt place to be and exactly how Ford intended.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1599cc OHC with twin venturi carburettor and a 4-branch exhaust manifold performs faultlessly producing 86bhp. Factory standard specification including a high lift camshaft and larger valves make this car a modern classic. The only modification is hardened valves so the car can run safely on unleaded fuel. It is a testament to the thousands spent that the engine bay is a visual delight with every component spotlessly clean just like the day it rolled off the production line. Opening the bonnet on this car will produce a gasp to fellow admirers that the new owner will enjoy time and time again. The four speed close ratio gearbox is precise, light and a joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This vehicle it fitted with the factory correct and immaculate 13" silver painted sports road wheels with bright rim embellishers. Five brand new Pirelli P3000 155/80 R13 tyres have been fitted. The dual line servo assisted brakes operate faultlessly.
HISTORY FILE
Purchased new by Mr Arthur D Burgoyne on the 1st October 1979 from Ford Dealer, M & J Quick in Manchester he owned the car for over 30 years. Entrusted by Mr Burgoyne to S.A Sullivan Engineers for all maintenance and servicing for over 20 years, he promised the proprietor first refusal if and when he sold the car. On acquisition the preserved Escort was detailed to show level before being sold to the second custodian, Mr Darnell. Available now due to the owners desire to downsize his collection and purchase an immaculate Mk 1 Ford Escort Twin Cam this car presents its self as probably one of the finest available for a lucky new keeper to cherish.
All the original Ford manuals are present including, Ford Car Owner Handbook, Ford Escort Operating Guide, Ford Escort Accessory Book, and the Vehicle Rustproofing Certificate. All keys are present on Ford key fob and fit all doors, boot and ignition.

My grandma used to drive one of these late 80’s/early 90’s. Her driveway had a super steep hill and was super tight. Remember her driving it like a pro when I was a wee thing! Used to be in amazement! She kept it forever and kept it mint super clean too, wish I could find and buy it! She’d take it shopping and to mass. Was always a treat to hang out with her and the car!

The one thing I'll never forget about the cream one we had is that it only had a side mirror on the driver's side. I was always perplexed by that and thought it looked a bit funny
I'd like to see a video of a Ghia spec Mark II Ford Escort with 1600 engine, nice looking road wheels and automatic transmission having its engine turned on and the owner having to wait a while for the warning lights to go off before driving away.
This car is amazing have to say, same model, same colour, apart from the vinyl roof it was my first car, bought it in late 1982, it was a 1975 model what a great car fantastic. I had the best times in that car epic.
That's a great car when you open and close the doors the sound brings back memories of my uncle's old escort
The doors always had a solid Thunk noise to them and the consul clock tick was a reminder of keeping the cream interior clean especially the deep cut cream wool carpet. Sharp radio cassette replaced Ford push button with pod speakers on rear shelf. Thought tyres were 165 but that might been recommended replacements. TAE 173S gone but not forgotten.
That is a stunning Escort, had a Mk2 back in 1980 an 1100 pop plus in 1980 to 83 although only 4 years old when I bought it, it wasn't as mint as that one.
I used to have my Ford Escort 1.3L mk2 in Roman Bronze Metallic HSS977V sadly he's gone but not forgotten. I was into Iron Maiden so I called him Eddie.
Wow! Just wow! Beautiful car! Im going to restore one myself. Getting it today or tomorrow. Alot of work needed but it will be worth it 10 times over

In Australia we got the 2 litre Pinto engine. They were assembled in Sydney till 1979. Great little cars.
