Damn, watching this over again, I just can't IMAGINE why their are "producers" who wouldn't want to work with live musicians. Look at how much fun Paulhino Da Costa is having. The whole process looks more fun. As a musician with studio experience myself, I KNOW that it ain't always fun, but, MAN! What I wouldn't give to have been able to sit in on some of those Quincy Jones sessions from the late 70s and early 80s!
@@jaysinger9941 yes,, everything Quincy touched was recorded there, brothers Johnson, James Ingram, Rufus and Shaka khan “master jam” album just to name a few.
Tune sounds a lot like "Sign Of The Times" from Bob James' 1981 same titled album. That song is written by Rod Temperton and Patti sings on that album too. Golden days for them all. Patti is a super pro of a singer and is still up there to this day. Props and Love to Miss Austin here!
Wow...it sounds like an early version of "Love X Love." Interesting take. It'd been interesting if they could release an expanded version of the GIVE ME THE NIGHT ALBUM with alternate versions of these songs. It's great to see this footage of "Q" during his pop PEAK. I swear that all of the albums he produced from about 1979 thru 1982 (after Rod Temperton's arrival) has a MUSICAL SHEEN. I swear you can hear the music sparkling through the headphones.
dhampex Hey man, saw you playing Rhodes on your channel, nice. No new shit? Btw, you must know what’s up- you knew it was Westlake! Studio B on Beverly..🎶
@@brucephoenix3989 Sorry for the late reply. Thanx!! I appreciate it. I kind of left the youtube thing alone, Posting vid part. Yes thats the studio. its crazy that Westlake and Paramount recording studio C (The Cave) have the same or similar design.
@Odawg96 Yessir that's exactly Love X Love. There has to be some unreleased songs that didn't make it on Give Me The Night and i'm searching high and low for em.
@ronrabia28 Hey, thanks for that heads up! I'd never heard that song before! Honestly, though, I still think the part works better HERE. It's good both places, but it feels a LOT better here. Rod Temperton was at the top of his game then!
This series originally on PBS during the 80's thanks for posting this, Oscar Brown Jr. is was a great artist in his own right. is there a way to gain acess to the entire series?
Bucket list wish - watch Quincy work a day in a studio. A walking mastery in music. Devine.
