The 'old guard' like Dawn Staley, Sheryl Swoops and Cheryl Reeves are desperate to old on to their power base. For years they and their like have ruled the roost without actually boosting the WNBA. Now a phenomenal player has emerged and they don't like their cosy position being shaken. They are nasty people and definitely not good for the future of women's basketball. A small point is that referees have to start penalising foul play against Caitlin Clark (not protecting her in any way), but applying the rules against physical assaults from players like Kennedy, Reeses and Briner.
One play does not define a player but GRINER'S coach needs to have a talk with her about the play where Clatk went full court and blew by GRINER who had her back to Clark as she laid one in and looked like WHAT JUST HAPPENED??? Talk about getting caught flat footed!!

When Swoops played for Texas Tech I was proud of her cause she played for my home town. I have to say I no longer feel that way, she has shamed herself and the game. There was an article and a month or so ago about it and it was I think 35% or 38% are from her own missed shots. This article came out right after the TikTok video where they were making fun of Reese by missing layups and layups and getting her own rebounds.
Reese isn't close to the skill level of CC. a quarter of her rebounds come from her missed layups
And a quarter of her points come from from putbacks of her own missed shots after she rebounds them. Let's also not forget the woman can't shoot outside 3 feet, she can't dribble at all, and her physical movement is often quite awkward.
Reese will be forgotten in two years. Her style is the old wnba. Boston,Brink and upcommers will make her a memory.. Its going to take speed and scoring which will make her rebounding irrevelent.

Funny thing I notice from highlights. Teams are really focusing on trying to shut CC down without success, but teams are not that intent on shutting Reese down. It doesn't look like it would be too hard to force difficult shots on Reese and make sure to box her out on the boards. Her numbers could be abruptly ceased if her opponents had that in their game plan like they do for Clark.
Tbh, most of her made shots look lucky as it is😄, and rebounds just land in her lap.
Granted, she does have a knack for using her body to establish position, but no one is attempting to get in her way either.
Reese could have easily had the first triple double. She just refuses to pass the ball and keeps taking her own rebounds and put backs until they go in, rather than kick it out to an open player to grab the assist. Her me first attitude is holding her own career back.
Caitlin, however, is adjusting her game to help out her teammates. She also gives them the credit for wins, and tries to put the blame on herself for their loses. Game planning for Clark is a nightmare, also. One on one, she can pull a step back and sink a three, or break your ankles on a crossover and drive to the hoop. So, they try to double team her, but she’s able to kick out to an open player for an easy assist. It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t with Clark.

An Aussie posted last month that she saw a video of AR grabbing ten rebounds in a row off her initial shot and then fumbled the last one out of bounds. That is a video someone should dig out if indeed it really exists.

I hated WNBA before CC came on the scene... got caught up with the drama when she was a Hawkeye and kept watching her since. I've followed the ole Fever this season - not as close as I'd like too but enough to see - that Caitlin Clark is without question a once in a generation talent type player. That said - due to her, and her playmaking abilities, her down the court vision, being 3 steps ahead and only getting better - her teammates who struggled to catch some easy passes she made to them, to get to open space, set picks, drop to depth, hustle back, etc... they have improved a bazillion %. I am WITHOUT A DOUBT impressed with the play of Boston - she is a beast... and she heavily relies on CC to be capable of getting the looks that she has. She has the talent level (A+) to get to where she needs to be - once CC draws defenders, opens up space and can thread the needle to her. The girl that has impresse dme most is Mitchell - she has turned on the jets... she isn't talked about much, and they honestly really need to hyper her up... she is a hustler, her 3 pt game over the last month has improved substantially - she's running full sprint back down the court to await the feed from CC... she's become strong to the basket against bigger players... CC makes everything and everyone better... if this team can stay healthy, and stay in tact I'd love to see them overthrow the Aces and take a title her first year... the support players as well on the Fever have really stepped it up as well... at the beg of the season we saw a lot of airballs and missed opportunities... these girls are now clicking... and if they're clicking with CC at the helm - they're all going to get big paydays... love it. A rising tide floats all boats!!!
