If only all underworld gangsters could be like this guy. Don't go after straight goers or anyone else who isn't a criminal and do an occasional good turn by doing bad, scary things to bad scary people who can't be stopped or 'persuaded' from trying to drag an innocent citizen's child into sex slavery any other way than the kind that involves waving a shotgun in their face.
Obviously, it would be better if gangsterism and organised crime didn't exist but its better than having these people disappear and the vacuum being filled by deranged psychopaths like those who run Mexican drug cartels and have innocent people kidnapped and tortured to death just so that their mutilated corpses can be used as props for displays designed to scare rival gangs and ordinary people from going against them.
I'm sure he had associates who were into all of that shit, who he turned a blind eye to because it's just business and that wasn't his problem. Possibly doing business directly with those cartels you're talking about. Hell he even said if he hadn't decided on this turnaround, that's basically what he would've done with the info and connections he got from prison. People did dank shit back in the day too it's just that there wasn't a smartphone pointing at it, what happened in one neighbood stayed in that neighborhood. There's this nationally famous old timer going around here working on his friendly image, and saying he wasn't directly involved in anything dank, but I watched his street level crews turn out 10 year olds on the elementary school playground at night where I grew up. "They won't shoot straight goers" but if that straight goer tries to get help with the psycho waving an uzi at his kids or grandparents for fun, or like in Bobby's story, they call the cops if he busts up their place and tries to extort them, you know they're still gonna kill em. Truth is these sort of people always were terrorizing their communities.

I wouldn't comment him like you did at the start if I met him because he would still do something nasty to you. He is one of the most known old fashioned hard men still around today. There is old member of the Krays gang still living who lives near my ex sister in law and you wouldn't want to piss him off even in his old age. I am a proud Londoner who lives outside London for many years, the old fashioned gangster's who are still around today are looked upon with respect. for sure i have a lot of respect for the G’s of that era they were a different breed for real. these clowns nowadays have no order or organization that’s why they always get caught up quick.
