- My Saturday morning walk is about 5 miles long and always ends at "Coffee and Cars" at Town Center in Mount Pleasant, SC. Today I got the nerve to actually interview one of the owners, and here's what he had to say about his classic DeSoto. Video from September 17, 2022.

I walk...and I make short videos of the things I see in my low country world of South Carolina... then I post them for you here @princeofstrides

"Open, O Lord, the eyes of all people to behold thy gracious
hand in all thy works, that, rejoicing in thy whole creation,
they may honor thee with their substance, and be faithful
stewards of thy bounty." The Book of Common Prayer
What a great looking car. The thing that stands out the most for me is the size of the rear doors. You could easily fit a large family plus stuff in this vehicle.
I totally agree!
Notice that the 50 DeSoto wagon was a Custom. The 49 was a DeLuxe, the base series. The later ones were trimmed like Customs, and the last few were even badged as Customs, but all were DeLuxe according the Series numbers.
Thanks for the info!
The '50 DeSotos were the handsomest and BEST BUILT! A GREAT YEAR FOR A GREAT BRAND!
I think it's still for sale! Thanks for watching!
GREAT CAR! I only wish I could afford it!@@princeofstrides
Beautiful Desoto.🗽👍
He really REALLY wants to find a buyer! So if you're in the market...
I want it! How much?
Last time I talked to him he was asking $55,000. (But he told me he would take $50K if anyone offered him that.) He says he has $80K invested in it.
Is it still for sale?
He was there last Saturday...March 4...and it was.
Plastic slip covers?
He said he put the plastic covers over the original upholstery to preserve it. I guess I understand the concept, but not sure the execution is ideal.
@@princeofstrides yes, I took notice of that. First time I've ever seen this done in a collector vehicle. I don't think a trend will start. Cool De Soto though!
@@Peter-vn6gl not exactly attractive, but not a new thing. It's the same concept as from grandma's living room furniture if you grew up in the 70s and 80s, it was all about protecting the materials. I use to see it a lot more in cars where owners wanted to protect the high back buckets from hair oils/chemicals, back when that was a thing.
@@browningchannel It was also popular in the late 40s - 60s. When you decided to sell or trade in your car, you had brand new looking upholstery, which made your car worth more $.
