Greetings from Russia, Mr Szorady!
These blades are made in Moscow!
The name is pronounced like this: was + haud (the stress is on haud)😃 and восход means “sunrise”
Thanks, Razor Blade.:) Really appreciate this!:) My apologies but I was pronouncing as I saw it in English. So, I'll make sure to use the correct pronunciation.:)
@@MarkSzorady of course! Pronounce it how you see and want it! I just showed the original version😀

@@iezuit197 Thanks.:) I appreciate it.:0 However, I may give the correct pronunciation a go next time around.:)
That was enough CK6 soap for like 4 shaves!!!!! 😂😂😂
Voskhod has been my blade of choice for two years. I’ve used it primarily in my Merkur Futur, and Muhle R41. It also works great in my Leaf.
I love them with my Futur set on 2.5.
Voskhod are my favorite blades, unbeatable low price and good quality 🪒💈
They are quite good, Micahel, I agree.
Voskhod are made in Moscow and gillette nacet/silver blue and astra green are made in St:Petersburg:)
Perma-Sharp is from st Petersburg to :)
I enjoy Voskhod so much I bought 1,500. Enough for a lifetime.
Wow! Enjoy!:)
Not enough for a lifetime unless you use the blades like 7 times before disposal.
@@Aspirintax I’m prepared for blade Armageddon. With over 10k various blades in the collection and my rotation. These WILL last me a lifetime.
@@Retroweld Jealous. Hopefully you have enough soaps too!
These have turned out to be my favorite blades. Sharp as I need it without giving me bumps like Feather. Just ordered 100.
Hi, Supernoob Smith. This is great to hear. I realize it's a YMMV sort of thing, but many, many wet shavers love the Voskhod.:)
Voskhod was the first blade i ever used and still my favourite.I've got hundreds of them.
rip, it seems that, the more I do the traditional wet shave, the more blades I try and acquire.:) I, too, have hundreds:) But, a nice problem to have.:)
I absolutely love the Voskhod blades. Exactly as you said, smooth without being overly aggressive and quality control seems spot on as I can’t even remember a bad one in the batch of 100. Very good price too easy for those who like a new blade with each shave or two.
Rich, thanks for confimring;:)
And I don't want to buy them because Russia is a terrorist country
I been wet shaving for ten years or so and just got these blades.... for me they worked great in my 34c
Joe, that
Joe, I use them the same way. They impress me as a blade with a little bit more aggression and sharpness, so a mild blade, for me, is the way to go.:)
@@MarkSzorady also I love your vids, been watching them for a long time... I got alot of knowledge from your vids, I really hope you keep making them and see what new shaving products you will try next
@@joendre4ever22 Many thanks.:) I'll give you a preview....two new videos tomorrow and Friday.:)
@@MarkSzorady awesome!!
Perfect! I ordered a 34c and a variety of blades - including Voskhods - yesterday. I guess I know which ones I'll try first :-)
I like Mark's shaving videos. Very informative but I get the sense he's a really descent person. That's what I like most.😁
Thanks, JimmyV123.:) I really appreciate the kind words.
I also tried voskhod for the first time this past week, loved it!
So far Voskhod is my favorite blade!
I like them.:)
Just ordered some of these, really excited to try them out!
Hi Mark! The Voskhod is one of my faves, beside the Rapira SP. Both running good in all my Super Speeds, EJ Kalvin and the Schick Krona. Very smooth and efficent. Keep on the good content 👍
Fantastic razor blades, incredibly sharp on the first 3 pass bbs shave left my neck nicked and irritated. After it was broken in, my Voskhod was buttery smooth on the 2nd with no irritation or nicks using my rockwell R4 plate. You're a brave gladiator with the viking razor as it looks like you're shaving with Thors hammer!
Voskhods are my favorite too. For me they are the smoothest blades out there
Hi, stevemiester007. As I ve mentioned before, I like Voskhods nd love the shave they give. Then, I'll try Rapira and think, at that moment, that they give an even better shave. THEN, I'll go back to Voskhods and think, "Wait, these are are better than Rapiras.":)
Hi Mark, I use these on more aggressive razors. They do give a great shave. Stay safe.
I tried these for the first time today. I think it’s my new favorite blade followed by Astra sp and Gillette silver blue
I tried Voskhod and they worked very well for me.
Chris, great to hear.:) I like them as well. But, will still tend to use them in milder razors.:) YMMV.:)
I tried these about a year and a half ago, but my technique has changed since then; time to give these another go!
Great video as always, Mark!
Thanks, Zach.:) You may want to check out my Rapira review and give those a try as well.:) Like both of these!:)
@@MarkSzorady you may be interested to know that I indeed tried those as well! I totally agree, they’re great blades!
I think my order may have just gotten bigger. 😉🪒💈
Cheers, friend!
@@mistershabadoo Good deal.:):) Thanks for the very nice words.:)
I forgot how good the voskhod blades were. Been using feather and king c Gillette blades recently so I’m glad you put out this vid. Had a great shave with a Rockwell 6c on number five and was impressed with the efficiency and smoothness. Thanks Mark
Nice shave. I love my Amber Aerolite brush too. That and the Perigrino are my 2 main go to brushes. Great feel and lather like nobody's business. Have a good day.
Rapira blades are also very good and similar to Voskod. I believe they are made at the same factory. They are less than $10 for a 100 pack on Amazon as well. Great shave!
I used to use Sharks, but these are my favorite..Perfect balance of sharpness and useability.
Alex, yes. You've reminded me that I need to use these again. Love 'em.:)
Sorry i'm late to the party but,
as a native Russian speaker - K is silent in Voskhod (i think it was put in for English version because if you write Voshod the "s" and "h" after each other produces the "sh" sound which is not how you pronounce Восход) the "x" in Russian makes the same sound as H in Hi. I also think they are made in Moscow.
That scuttle is awesome. Been using it myself. Boiling water does make its way into the handle and its not insulated well so you may be uncomfortable holding it when filled and fresh. I'm not afraid of it slipping and breaking.
I was using Voskhod for a while until a barber recommended Rapira platinum lux. Sharper than Voskhod but as smooth, at least to me anyway. Both are great blades😋
am I the only one who get's Mark theme song stuck in their head and finds themself humming it during the day ?? anyway , Mark , I love the Voskhod blade and find it to be perfect in My Mekur Futur razor ! stay safe My friend
My favorite blade
I like the jazz music in the background.
Hi Mark- Great shave and razor review; thank you! I definitely need to re-try Voskhod blades; it has been quite awhile since I last used them! I hope you are well and take good care. All the best, Mark!
I’m not 100% sure but I’ve heard that the (K) in Voskhod is silent, but I’m not really sure if that’s how it is pronounced or not. But definitely my favorite blade so far!
Thaks, Jason, I guess I'm using what many would consider an Americanization pronunciation. But I'll certainly correct the next time around.:)
@@MarkSzorady I’m not really for sure if that’s the way it’s really pronounced or not but I I’ve heard it said with a silent (K) either way it’s a really great blade! Great review Mark and I’m glad to see you put Voskhod in the lime light on your channel, Thanks!
Your music reminds me of when Mr. Rogers put in a film in picture picture for a factory tour of them making something.
:):):)
I have only tried these blades like twice about 6 years ago and i was not impressed. Back then so many online was singing there praises.
I've used this brand before! It's definitely one of my favorites.
Just tried out the voskhod blade, and wow they worked very well for me👌👌 im one of those super thick coarse hair guys. Keep up the great videos and information Mark😁
Paul, very glad to hear the Voskhod blades worked for you. It's al a YMMV sot of thing. Some report that Voskhod is inconsistent, blade to blade. I haven't found that. Each blade has been top-notch for me.
I bought a sample pack and just tried Voskhod, the first shave was extremely good, one of the best I had. However, the second was terrible, it has done the job but with nicks. I hope the others like Rapira Platinum Lux, Personna and co will be better. Astra greeen lasted for me about 3-5 shaves
My favourite blade.
John, it's a good one for sure. I sometimes think the Rapira is a bit better. Then, I use a Voskhod and think that it's better...then, the Rapira, the he Voskhod...Seems to be neck and neck with these two blades for me.:)
Hi Mark,
Greetings! Voskhod blades are amazing. For me, they work best on a gillette tech fat handle razor. Great blade. I got about 400 of them in my DE blade collection
This is the second blade i used after wilkinson. As a beginner it is very different:) not bad or good just different:) good thing i didnt cut myself. Thanks for your reviews
Nice video. I just bought a sample pack to try out.
I usually use personna blue blades. The Voskhod blades seem comparable to the personna blue blades judging by reviews.
You inspired me to try a new blade also. I bought some 5 packs of gillete 7o clock yellow. To be honesy,i tried manu blades but this migjt be the best one yet. Its immediatly my favorite blade. My skin never felt so smooth!
Jeroen, great to hear!:) Enjoy!:)
Hi Mark, Great Video! As you noted you are using the PAA Cube 2.0 per the instruction. I have noticed you using it this way for the past few weeks. Are you finding the Cube 2.0 is working better for you this way or in the manner you were previously using it? Also, how you rank the aggressiveness between the Godfather, Chieftain, and Chieftain 5 BC? Again, great video and I have a pack of Voskhods waiting when I am ready to switch blades.
Hi Mark I bought a new razor and I watched a review and the reviewer said he had used mainly Voskhod in it so I bought a pack to try. Well I tried 2 of them and not used since I didn’t find them very sharp at all they pulled and tugged in my opinion they were closer to blunt than sharp and I shave every day. I did buy from a reputable company. It’s interesting as it seems a lot of people seem to like them so I was interested to see how you got on.
Keep well and keep safe.
Lol, i had that with parker blades:) its fun to read everyones experiences.ymmv
Leslie, as I mentioned in an above comment, I've used several and they've performed quite well for me. But, I use them in milder razors which might make the diffeernce. Not sure.
@@MarkSzorady Hi Mark I used them in my Outlaw hope this helps. I am using Nacet at the moment in it.
@@lesliefitzer2846 thanks.
super video, Mark !!!
Thanks very much, Razor Michl!:)
Ciao Mark, Voskhod sono ottime lamette russe!il pennello è ottimo, monta il sapone benissimo!♥️
Massimo, glad to hear the Voskhod blades work for you.:) I like them.) Have a great day!
Which of the Godfather razors would you recommend? Or does it really matter?
Enjoyed watching another one of your amazing videos, Mark. Voskhod blades are presently in the mail and I will try it as well with my Godfather Stonehenge Razor. Now to a question I couldn't get an answer for yet. What are the experts opinion with regard to flipping the blade upside down after every shave? Will it prolong sharpness due to a more even usage, or doesn't it matter whether you leave the blade always on the same side until you are replacing with a new blade? I must admit I have always been one of the latter.
I’m all about the Feather Platinum
Many wet shavers wholeheartedly agree iwth you.:)
Good morning Mark. Voskhod!! I love them. I'm surprised to hear the mixed reviews in the comments. For me, the first shave is decent, but it gets Even smoother as I use it. They're sharp enough, but the smooth factor is where these really shine. This blade has the most shaves per blade for me. My record is 7 full 3 pass shaves. I only threw it out so I could try a different blade. I typically toss blades at 4 uses so that is saying something. You should try it in your fatboy, maybe setting 3 or 4? That worked well for me.
Thanks, roger.:) I will give them ago in my Fatboy.:) And yes, for me, at the milder settings.:)
Woshod blade the best
Nice teapot for the soap...! 😜
Lots of questions on the new packaging, which does not have Teflon Coated listed. But they all are indeed coated. Teflon is a specific brand name for PTFE. SO to avoid issues with the branding use of Teflon, the packaging has changed. Looks like you have old packaging from someone's stock somewhere.
Truth he told, probably almost all de blades have Teflon, chromium or platinum coatings since it came out with Wilkinson Sword back in the 60s. Probably the cheapest blades that are on the generic side of things are not coated, but most brands are.
Oh, I found out at the Rapira web page that they are coated. That's the parent company.
how would those blades work with Edwin Jagger DE89?
If you have not tried yet, give Perma-Sharp blades a go! They are the best for me by far yet. They are similar to the PolSilver blades that arent really available much anymore. They give me an amazing close shave yet so forgiving for irritation and ingrowns. Another favorite yet much more pricey is Bolzano italian blades, now manufactured in Germany...titanium coated, They are similar to PermaSharp yet even sharper, maybe a touch less forgiving.
Hi, DirtyOrr#4. I have PermaSharps and need to do a video review of them. I agree, a good blade but I really need to go a bit more in-depth.:) Definitely going to do this.:)
@@MarkSzorady awesome! 👌🏼 get ahold of the Bolzano if you havent yet, PAA sells them. Put those babies in a mild razor head and they will give a BBS extremely comfortable shave. With a long lasting edge
@@Orr_s I'll look those up.:) Thanks.:)
@@MarkSzorady absolutely. Thanks for all the great videos

What other brand is the closest to this? Depending on how this war thing ends up these might be hard to get sometime soon, and I haven't used anything close to as good as these.

very nice blades , last for aroung 2 or 3 shaves , regards robert , also are cheap
Great video. I’m a big fan of these blades , but like many other worthwhile things in life, I come to the party a little too late. By that I mean that the price you paid for the blades is ancient history. I paid $ 22.00 for 100 and , well, that’s okay.
Wow, Mark Mostoklegmash ( I'am sure that's not writen like this, 🤣), dosen't play around! I want to try this Blade. Great video as always 👍.
Ps: Unfortantly my Phantom cuts over reacts every time, but cold whater and alum set them.
Victor, I sometimes cannot decide between Voskhod and Rapira. I use Voskhod and thnk it' the better of the two, then I use Rapira and think that its the better one. :0
@@MarkSzorady that's funny Mark I watched a video that the UA-camr puted this two blades in a microscop and the blades are Just a little bit diferent. The Voskhod Blade edge it's all lined up, It gives a much more soft fell but a not so close cut. Rapira Blade edge It's not lined it's crossed, what means that It gives a much more close cut, but not so confortable. It's an Very interesting vídeo, here It is:

Hey Mark speaking of Future Fiction, what did you end up deciding to do with your last empty bottle?
I really like these blades.Cheap, sharp and forgiving. I always have a few packs. Together with Perma-Sharp my favorites.
For your next MMB. Do you have a soap that you owned for a very long time, you,are using often now? I have a TOBS grapefruit in my cabinet standing for a few months. Now i use it a few days and i really like it again!
Jeroen, great question.:) I'll pencil it in for an upcoming MMMB.;)
Not a deal breaker for me either to have tabs sticking out of a head but honestly don't see why all makers don't make the head a bit larger. It wouldn't cost that much more in materials.
I personally like overhang on a razor to make blade swapping easier
Nice shave, Mark. You went all-in with PAA today. Love their products too. I like the Voskhod blades as well. Definitely in my top 5. You didn't say...but how would you compare that blade to say the Astra SP or other blades?
Hey mark, what’s your favourite blade ever? Great video
Tyler, it seems a new blade comes along and hits all the right notes. I like these Voskhods but in mild razors (or adjustable razors set at mild levels). I like Lord Platinums, Astra Greens, Personna Blues (made in Israel), Derby Premiums. I guess I lean toward blades that have a Teflon, Platinum, Chromium, etc. coating.:)
I see that some of the Voskhods say Teflon Coated and some say Super Stainless. Does anyone know if there’s a difference?
My understanding is that they had to stop saying 'Teflon' as it's a trademark. Same blades though.
Try Lamix, darn things stay sharp and hold an edge. It crazy! I have a tuff beard.
Hi, Barry. Tanks.:) Temporarily out of stock on amazon. I'll try Ebay.
Mark! Have you ever heard of the Future Fiction (sometimes labeled Future Science Fiction or Future combined with science fiction stories) magazine series from back in the day? I know you’ve said before how much you enjoy the artwork design Doug uses for that label. I’m not sure but I think this may have been the inspiration! You can see a bunch of examples on eBay.
Mine says super stainless instead of Teflon coated
I've never seen that version. Anything I've ever seen on this blade always indicates a Teflon coating.

Hey man, that is a bummer. I never had that problem lucky to say. What problems did you run in to?

I am somewhat surprised by someone of your stature who was so unfamiliar with Voskhod blades. :O Live and learn, I suppose is the lesson. Peculiar story, I have several USSR Era Russian razors and I vividly recall using a Voskhod in one and it completely incompatible in terms of comfort. I tried the same blade in a Gillette Knack which is roughly of the same era and it worked perfectly; n interesting parenthetical event for me.
Hi, WolfRanger2008. I may have used a Voskhod blade early on. I had a lot of sample packs. It's just that I don't believe I ever shot a video of it. I may have, but simply cannot remember. It also may not have the emphasis or main topic of the video. It might take some digging through my video archives to be sure.
I paused this video too say I don't wash my face before the shave only because the facial oils and dead skin cells add a protective barrier.
I've never heard this before. Worth discussing for sure.:)
Putin approved? 😃
it's funny cuz you don't really have a beard :D
Sorry, for me they are useless....
Luka, interesting. Curious to know if it's a cut and dry type of thing. Seems there is no middle ground with these. Wet shaves either love 'em or hate 'em. At least that my early observation.
@@MarkSzorady They are just not sharp enough for me. I love sharp blades. Astras are my sweet spot, and gillette platinum white box, available just in supermarkets in Slovenia, havent seen them online.
