I almost printed a picture...no joke! But then I was like..I think I can just add a few elements and give it the look I want..I'm satisfied but I want to add a little sign that says, "watch your head" as you go down...or something like that.
Yes for sure try it out...it really gives an element of coolness to the house and it was surprisingly easy to build..aside from my frustration in making the tiny holes for the hardware that is!
@@WhitneyLaBrie Will definitely give it a go! I would’ve never thought of adding something like this…it’s another element that gives realism to the dollhouse.
@@littlegretchensworkshop7665 yours turned out really well too, and comforting to know that if dad knocks something off the dresser it won't really go downstairs
Really like the effect the steps give! Well done. Tiny Whitney is wise not to go down into the creepy cellar! LOL! Great video- and a great touch to your dollhouse. Toodles!
That was fascinating,A great illusion indeed, wow! Tiny Whitney was wise not to go down there. The regular sized spiders, they would have been a BIG problem for her.
I am so glad I found you! I just built my first and most likely only dollhouse. Being a dreamer, I wanted a basement and have a staircase to nowhere. Now I can ATTEMPT your cellar doors.
Awesome. I think the brick side looks more realistic in regards to perspective. The planks on the left wall wouldn’t be slanted, I think. Beautiful work regardless!
That really came out great. So talented!!! I am not much of a painter, so I enjoy watching and learning different effects. Love how spooky it looks; I wouldn't go down there either! Thanks for sharing😊😊
I’ve never lived in a house with a basement or cellar…but I don’t think I would visit it much if I did…it has the same creepy vibes as an attic…but maybe worse cause if the musty dampness…eeeeck!
Thank you, this is one of those things I made that I kinda forget about and then I'll notice it again and be like, oh yeah I really enjoyed making that!
Somehow I missed this one. I saw one lady make a giant box base for her dollhouse and turned it into an enormous basement. Pool table, and all, over on Laurie Heisler channel
these came out great.❤ I love how you made the inside...I plan on doing a set as well..I just bought the hardware and a teeny tiny padlock. I didn't think about doing the inside since I planned on the lock..but I was definitely struggeling with you throwing away that Lil hole poker piece..Im sure I would of found a use for it😂
hahahahaha! yes that dang tool, so I broke it trying to punch the holes cause I was using such hard wood..it was useless..I have a few others. That's so cool that you are making one as well. I love the idea of a pad lock...it gives the piece some mystery..like...why is it locked? What's down there? What is she hiding? ...lol
@@WhitneyLaBrie lol..we had these doors on our old farmhouse in NY so I have always planned on building a set for my Miniature 1930s farmhouse ..and just recently bought the hardware and then I saw that tiny padlock and that a latch would be perfect. I always called them tornado doors.
@@tinykeyholeminis yes I think it depends on where you live, I kinda think of a basement as usually having access from in the house, and cellar or tornado doors are outside..but I think it the words are often interchangeable..I still can't over a tiny padlock! love it.
I think in the Arachnophobia movie the spiders were in the cellar. My parents house was on a hill, so we had a huge basement, most of it finished. But there was also a trapdoor, a little square hole in one of the rooms, and my parents would send us down there and hand us cases of wine they bought to put under the house. I hope they got everything out before they moved. In Wizard of Oz it was for hiding out during tornadoes, but I imagine people use them as root cellars too to keep food fresh
This is the second time I have built this same dollhouse, I used the same base for the old house also..but I sold it before I really started to finish the yard area. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video!
Love how the cellar doors with handles and hinges turned out!
I was pleasantly surprised myself...aside from needing a better tool punch the holes for the hardware, it was a very easy assembly.
This is brilliant! I assumed the inside of the basement was a printed photo so imagine my surprise! Great job 👍

Thank you Gretchen, I'd like to do it again and really perfect the technique..you know how that goes!
