Sehmat was successful in her mission.she was d daughter of a kashmiri bussinessman..She completed her mission and came back to india as a pregnant woman..Her son went on to become an army officer and he revealed about his mother to Indian navy officer Harinder sikka in 1999...He met the woman too and also other families who had members who were spies...Sehmat's story was made into a novel by Harinder sikka after yrs of research ..Calling Sehmat (published in 2008)...She is dead now..but her son is still alive

chetana maurya he was killed by I.B. while they were in process of bring her back actually when things started to go downhill I.B. attacked sahemat and her husband both but she survived the attack and later I.B. brought her back ... even though her son loved his country and fought in kargil but it's said he never forgave his mother... for what she did to his father...
I lived through the 1971 war in Karachi and distinctly remember making "crush India" homemade stickers on our cars.

Crush India sticker was real. I have heard about it in a Pakistani debate show where Pakistani panelsists were talking about 65 and 71 war.
sehmat died due to her old age but still her son serves in Indian Army.

That is the work of a spy . Neither care about family nor even him/herself , only do care about their Motherland and sacrifice their life to safe their Motherland. Her son should know about it.
The land is for people and their happiness. If people are not there, what good is the land? We always say motherland but what exactly is that motherland? Is it that house,mahalla, village,district, division, or the whole countryland?
Why do people get so stirred about land areas in their country they don't even visit? People just one village within border become brethren and one the other 'wrong' side become enemy? This is ridiculous.

I have read the book. Sehmat's son worked for the Indian army till last decade. Now she is dead. And he works in the private sector. Her intelligence was responsible in saving the INS Virat . The writer is an army officer too.

We don't have to revisit how the British were responsible for this. The story of the drawing of India-Pakistan's borders is self-explanatory. They wanted the divide to go deeper, through land, people and generations to come. Good of you to react to this. We know it's not easy for you guys. A lot of sceptism must go with it, considering the history of cinematic exaggeration on both sides of the border.
So true..divide and rule was a very smart game the British played from Day 1..with respect to caste and religion..and instead of working towards fixing that divide we are still fighting between countries, and within the country as well.

Her real name is SEHMAT and she is a kashmiri girl and he came back india safely, her son is now in indian army after her death her son itself revealed her story to his senior army officer harindra sikka and he wrote a noval called "CALLING SEHMAT " released on 2008 and her father was a business man. ....
Yashasvi Ranjan Her real name is kept unrevealed till date....the novel was fictionalized to keep the family safe.

i have just seen the movie yesterday!. and it is certainly the must watch movie. very intense and emotional movie. it can make anyone fall in love with both countries and hate the both the same time!.. must watch
Sehmat was the name of book from which this movie is inspired.
The best thing about this movie is there is no exaggerated jingoism. Not once have they tried to reflect 'my country is better than yours' . It's based on facts and very objective. Talking about Pakistani culture, the way the Syed family is shown in the movie it made me have a good opinion about Pakistanis.

The movie is based on the novel Calling Sehmat by Harinder S. Sikka.
I also found those noises she takes out while she’s hit weird! But trailers are different ball game altogether! Most probably, you won’t hear those noises in the actual film or the noises may not be of the same context, as you saw in trailer, the actual scenes where she takes out those noises maybe playful, light scenes, but they plug it in the trailers to go with the mood of the situation, because they obviously have to show a lot in a 2min trailer!

This movie is unbiased and she is not just protagonist but heroine same goes for a pakistani whos character is nowhere near villain but a thorough gentleman who loved his country and understood sehmat... Not like he protected her becoming disloyal to his country but instead kept loving and respecting her and tried his best to arrest her and protect his country
He is just deluding himself that he is intelligent and literate!
They have shown Pakistani side as very dignified, respectable and honorable people. In the end you feel sympathy for them, and feel the futility of war.. You should watch it..

Few questions that beg clarification :
1. The era shown is very close to 71 war and Bangladesh Liberation movement when it was clear that Indian involvement in the movement is quite strong and war is around the corner. Why would a Pakistani soldier get the NOC for marrying an Indian citizen (even if she is a Muslim) given the circumstances?
2. Borders were not open after the 1965 war which started in Kashmir. So how is it possible that Army men will cross it so smoothly, get married in a hostile country and return without any issues from the higher ups. If anything, such a wedding should be well documented on both sides!!!!
3. During the last scene of the trailer, the heroine is pointing the gun at her husband making it clear she is an Indian spy. Regardless of whether she kills him or not, how in real life as some other videos on the topic have suggested did she return back to India so easily while being pregnant and lead her rest of life in an unknown manner ???? Why she wasn't apprehended by the Army or law enforcing agencies in Pakistan ???
4. It is further mentioned in another video that her son later fought in the Kargil war. Being a son of a Pakistani Army man, how easy was it for him to get in the Army? Did that lady remarry to cover it up or was his real father's name mentioned in his records ????
This might be a good patriotic movie for the Indians but way too fictional to be given any credibility of being considered based on real events !

Maine dekha yeh movie. Politically i dont want to comment. But culturally, the pakistani family is shown so well mannered and so classy! I felt sorry that such a nice family had to sacrifice good men for the country. But it happenes on the both sides of the border. But i am so sure that if i ever visit pakistan i will be treated with respect and dignity. Isnt it?
