Man, I can't count the times I have watched this video. I love it. I watch it today and look at all of the young people and wonder where are they today. Where has life led them and where are they politically. I am 55 years old today and I am terrified wear we are headed. Neither party Republican, or Democrat gives a shit about regular people. The truth of the matter we are witnessing the fall of the empire and most people in this country are oblivious.

+1on1 - In 1988, President Reagan went to the Soviet Union to meet with Gorbachev; Mayor Bernie Sanders went there to meet with the mayor of Yaroslavl, a sister-city of Burlington, Vermont. Bernie Sanders jokingly calls that trip a honeymoon because he brought his second wife and it was right after their wedding, but there were 10 other people with them on that trip. Sanders also had a Soviet flag because Burlington has Yaroslavl as a sister city.
Love the crowd. Its a breath of fresh air to see a wave of people from different backgrounds and colors at a presidential campaign. Feel the Bern baby! ☺👍
+1on1 "As other comments noted, the quote is attributed to LBJ in Ronald Kessler's book, and was supposedly said to two southern governors. It is also worth noting that LBJ knew his audience, and would speak differently to a Georgia state legislator than, say, a Connecticut governor. It's very difficult to tell when LBJ is putting on an act for audience or when he's speaking with his "true" voice. Additionally, I tend to detect a bit of self-aware irony in some of LBJ's discussion of these issues. I think that's key to understanding how LBJ could say the most radically progressive statements while simultaneously using a racial slur. But given the tone and tenor of LBJ's conversations on these issues, I think the best we can say is that the quote cited by OP is not inconsistent with LBJ's style. +Maria Rivera VERY RIGHT , IT IS VERY NEEDED NOW TO DO WORK HARD FOR BERNIE TO MAKE A GRATE REVOLUTION WHICH WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OF USA & OUTSIDE OF USA WHICH IS VERY NEEDED NOW & FOR THIS REASON WITHOUT BERNIE THERE IS NO WAY,
Bernie Sanders is the 1st genuine politician who is actually worth voting for. You can feel he really means what he says. A politician who speaks the truth does not come around very often. Hes probably the first and last politican i will vote for. I hope others like him come in the future but i doubt we will see someone like him again for a while.
+Maria Rivera THANKS A LOT, IF I WERE BE IN HERE THEN OF COURSE I COULD DO THE BEST FOR HIM & I FEEL IT IS OUR VERY GRATE DUTY TO MAKE REVOLUTION WITH BERNIE TO REMOVE POVERTY WHICH IS THE & SHOULD BE A REAL ISSUE FOR 48 MILLION POOR OF AMERICA & IT WILL BE INSPIRED GLOBALLY, SO RAISE THE VOICE FOR BERNIE TO GET NOMINATION & TO WIN WITH REVOLUTION TO REMOVE POVERTY FROM USA,

+payz hayz I've heard Bernie rap. "Reboot Needed" did a great one I rather like, even though I don't typically like rap. I'm a metalhead. And I want Bern-metal, damn it!
Damn, nice job Killer Mike! Oh and I should note to conservatives that Killer Mike isn't literally a killer. It's kind of like when Jesus rose from the dead, he wasn't literally a zombie.
He wasn't just speaking to the crowd. All we Bernie supporters need to heed his words - take to the streets, share the ideology and philosophies of this man and leave those who listen on fire with the Bern!!
Yes that's the problem, Bernie will re-democratise politics and remove the influence of Pac/corporate money.. The media will lose millions do you think they are going to promote Bernie who is clearly their nemesis. You cant believe a word the media says, its owned. Bernie will win, I knew he would from the very first moment he announced, it's time for change, he is the best hope for the future #FeeltheBern
+UnordinaryLife Nope - Trump is non-establishment in terms of political parties, but he's the embodiment of the ruling class, the establishment of power.
+UnordinaryLife Trump always gets more publicity because he acts like a jackass on Keeping it Up With the Kardashians! What's even funnier, though, is that the other republicans are, they all know his plan to build a wall (and make one of the poorest nations in the world pay for it) and block some parts of the internet is fucking terrorism! He should move to North Korea and be buddies with Un.

I love Bernie Sanders. I feel that if we (the middle class and poor) ever had a chance to stop this "rob from the poor and give to the rich" economics it will be with Bernie, but my concern is that if Bernie is elected, we have two other branches that are pretty much bought and paid for to help stop his progress; after all, the president is only the president. He has some power, but he's not a dictator!
+Charles Ring Bernie has already addressed that. He's said that electing him President is just the start of the fight, that all the people who elect him need to work with him and not lose their fervor. When he proposes a bill to help you all, you NEED to go to your representatives and force them to not try and get in its way. I'm not American, but I pray you guys can do that.
+Charles Ring I believe he will because I am one of those people. I did not give a damn about politics until I read about Sanders and saw how passionate this man is in his speeches and it amazed me even more that hes been saying the same things for decades. He can truly bring change because the power of the people is the greatest power and Bernie is not in debt to any corporations, only to the people who vote him in.
+Charles Ring Just as an update, there's a growing number of people running for office as "berniecrats"/progressives because of the success of his campaign. They're getting a lot of promotion and support from the political revolution. One is challenging Debbie Wasserman-Schultz in FL, and has a real chance. Should be able to find them on Twitter without too much trouble.
At the very least, Councillor Killer Mike, Mayor Killer Mike, Congressman Killer Mike, or Senator Killer Mike as well. Your country needs more people representing the people at every level, President Bernie Sanders doesn't do this alone.
I had a dream..... and it was the of Bernie Sanders and Killer Mike forming the dynamic duo on the same ticket. Together, taking back washington from the parasites and bringing this country back to life. With Bernie’s vision and killer Mike’s inspiring passion and rhetoric and coupled that with both of their understanding in doing the right thing. ... fills me with hope and excitement for the first time in my life. Listening to both men individually and/or together has given me a vision of a future where my daughter is happy, healthy, educated, successful, thriving on a beautiful recovering planet!!! you both have given me the strength and passion to stand up and fight for that vision. The both of you are true leaders I am so thankful to have you on our side.
The best thing we can do to support Bernie Sanders is act like civilized human beings and not go on the comment sections and get into shouting matches and calling people names. It looks ridiculous and sends the wrong message to people who may not know who to vote for.
+Ben quinn you got that off of that silly Facebook post. None of that information is true. While Bernie Sanders did have crappy jobs while he was in his early 20's and 30's, (like several Americans do) he was an activist that was fighting for higher pay and equal rights for all Americans. He was college educated and struggled to find good jobs like several other Americans. Who cares that he didn't have a good job. There are plenty of GOOD people out there who don't have good jobs. Leave it to some right-wing nut job to try to invalidate someone's campaign because the weren't fortune enough to have a good job like YOU.
+Ben quinn If you think you're going to get me to change my vote to a billionaire who could care less about the middle class, to the rest GOP who are so out of touch with reality it isn't funny, or to a woman who is in bed with Wall Street and couldn't do her job as Secretary of State correctly, you're sadly mistaken. Bernie Sanders is the only candidate who makes sense. He isn't taking corporate donations or forming super pacs. He is legitimately trying to change the political landscape of this country and take money out of politics so that billionaires like the Koch's can't keep funneling money into special interests to keep their pockets fat. If you would seriously vote for any other candidate than the guy who actually cares about hard working people, then something is wrong with you. Furthermore, you aren't welcome on this video and in this comment section. Nothing you say is going to change anyone's mind. So please, go somewhere else.
killer mike bring me to tears how eloquent he is... he has the courage, power & resonation of MLK with such righteous, invigorating passion & contagious call for social justice & revolution. #KM4VP
It seems like only yesterday. Killer Mike has stuck by Bernie, since before 2016. Now his words resonate more than ever. KM, we hear you and we feel da Bern. PREACH ON, BROTHER!
I wish I would’ve knew how important this was then!!! But now I’m awaken from that deep sleep, I fully stand behind Bernie Sanders!!! If there’s one person in our United States that deserves this presidency it is Bernie Sanders! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏💪
I cray when i see bernie and killer mike is so ready for change and he knows all peolpe deserve a good president the peolpe must come together this a beautiful thing that should happen now god bless bernie freedom fighters
Thank you Atlanta youngins for getting rid of Trump ....... but Bernie is the answer and the change that america really needs. Bernie and his prodigy, the squad are the future. Also, much love to Stacy Abrams without whom Atlanta would not have turned blue.
Killer Mike is super cool! He's also got that same thing Bernie Sanders does. While he's talking, you can tell he's got a heart. No other candidate has that.
5 years later.....wanted to re watch this speech. Damn what could have , SHOULD HAVE been. If only our country "got it " & we could have Bernie Sanders as our president for 2 terms ......😢
+FemaleMLK alt least my thrid time and i am not even living on your continen! feeling the bern (btw why only 82.500 views this should hav a hundret million)
I like Hillary but man I want Bernie Sanders to be president. He's a great man. I'm sure Republicans hate his guts which just makes me love the guy even more.
+MisterBinx If Hillary is elected, I really don't believe she'll break up the banks. But I just know that those are her ties, so there's a really good reason Bernie get the spot. The bankers nearly crashed the economy.
+ZeitgeisterOm My only hope in Hillary is that she would put Elizabeth Warren on the ticket, she's a real progressive, although I don't think two women could win, even two well spoken women (aka not Palin), against the Republicans.
This speech gave me chills. Killer Mike's passion to make the world a better place is inspirational.
Man, I can't count the times I have watched this video. I love it. I watch it today and look at all of the young people and wonder where are they today. @Edward Roberts Im not american, and your country is a shit stain on the world. Its people like you who keep it that way.
The NRA loves Bernie.

I so love that you can actually hear him almost choking up!! Killer Mikes Passion is contagious!!

+1on1 "As other comments noted, the quote is attributed to LBJ in Ronald
Kessler's book, and was supposedly said to two southern governors. But
in the absence of a reliable objective record of that quotation, among
the best sources to answer your question are the presidential recordings
made during the Johnson administration, which I've listened to at
length during my undergrad studies. Several hundred conversations were
recorded dealing with issues of racial politics and the Civil Rights Act
of 1964. A discussion of those conversations can be found here.
Now, a quote like the one in OP's question is not found in any of
these recordings, nor do they contain the oft-cited statement to Bill
Moyers that LBJ had "lost to the South to the GOP for a generation." But
they do provide excellent insight into how LBJ talked about these
issues in private. For example, it is simply undisputed that LBJ did use the prevailing southern racial slurs of the time, including the word "n-----r," as this actual recording demonstrates. This is hardly the only example.
Another famous example is cited in "Lone Star Rising: Lyndon Johnson and His Times, 1908-1960",
by Robert Dallek. Johnson defended the Supreme Court appointment of the
famous Thurgood Marshall, rather than a black judge less identified
with the civil rights cause, by saying to a staff member, "Son, when I appoint a n-----r to the court, I want everyone to know he's a n-----r."
That being said, for a rural-born white Texan in the late 1960s, the
collected recordings show that LBJ had some astonishingly progressive
views on race in America, but his nomenclature leaves something to be
desired. It is also worth noting that LBJ knew his audience, and would
speak differently to a Georgia state legislator than, say, a Connecticut
governor. It's very difficult to tell when LBJ is putting on an act for
audience or when he's speaking with his "true" voice. Additionally, I
tend to detect a bit of self-aware irony in some of LBJ's discussion of
these issues. I think that's key to understanding how LBJ could say the
most radically progressive statements while simultaneously using a
racial slur.
But given the tone and tenor of LBJ's conversations on these issues, I
think the best we can say is that the quote cited by OP is not
inconsistent with LBJ's style. But it seems unlikely that we will ever
know if those exact words were uttered. From my own studies, I
personally think the quote is either genuine or a fair paraphrase. It's
the kind of thing LBJ might say to a Dixiecrat to convince them not to
oppose the CRA. Thus, if anyone got "tricked" over the CRA, it wasn't
black America -- it was Southern conservative democrats. In other words,
as u/Thurgood_Marshall and others note below, while the quote might be genuine, the sentiment was not.
So, I think it does a disservice when these kinds of quotes are used
to suggest that LBJ was duplicitous and uncaring about black America.
Personally, I have no doubt over the bona fides of LBJ's
empathy and humanity after listening to the conversations in June of
1963 during the Freedom Summer disappearances, where LBJ was positively
distraught.
It's also revealing that on July 24, 1964, Barry Goldwater met with
LBJ in the White House to discuss the issue of race in the presidential
campaigns. Goldwater suggested that both campaigns not address the issue
of race in order to avoid inflaming racial tensions. LBJ strongly
disagreed. There is no doubt from the presidential recordings that LBJ
considered race problems to be an issue of morality, going so far as to
compare the CRA of 1964 as a moral challenge similar to that facing the
Lincoln administration over whether to pursue the 13th Amendment.
EDIT: Because it hasn't been mentioned yet, I will
add that the source of the quotation, Ronald Kessler, is not what I
would call an unbiased historian. Mr. Kessler has been the chief
Washington correspondent for the far-right-wing Newsmax. He is known for
incorrectly reporting that Barack Obama was present for Rev. Wright's
"white arrogance" sermon, among other controversies. I'm not saying he's
a bad journalist, and I'm not indicting his politics. I'm just saying
that he comes to the table with his own biases.
TOP LEVEL EDIT: The more I consider the OP's quote
in light of my own time listening to the recordings at the LBJ library
at the University of Texas, the more I am convinced that LBJ is putting
on an act to these two southern governors to quiet their rancor over his
pursuit of the CRA. I think the statements in OP's quote directly
conflict with Johnson's private understanding of just how transformative
the CRA would be, both politically and legally.
Also, I think he absolutely knows, at the moment that he is smiling
and assuring these good ole boys that their political future is secure,
that he is actually about to end their careers, as well as the present
and future careers of a great many other conservative democrats in the
south (as reflected in the Moyers quote, above).
I won't begin to deny that LBJ was a ruthless political operator, and
indeed, an unrepentant liar. But I cringe that this single quote,

Mike should be on the 2020 tour at every opportunity. He is the best!
I like Hillary but man I want Bernie Sanders to be president. He's a great man. I'm sure Republicans hate his guts which just makes me love the guy even more.
+MisterBinx Hillary is a war hawk ..................... corporate banking and Wall ST are all Founding her She is a fake progressive
+Christopher Dobos Putting Warren on the ticket wouldnt do anything. Vice presidents dont have power
Wow...just amazingly wow.👍
Wow I used to think wat happen to America but now I salute u America u hv a new revolution
Killer mike please support Bernie this time too
