Eat, Play, Rock site had this in the Interview with Charlie Star, the Lead Singer: The Lead Singer was his friend in the Black Crowes and He suggested the name Blackberry Smoke, so IT was the Black Crowes gave them their name and they headlined for the new Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, I call them new, because I listened to the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band as a Teenager back in the '70s.lol
