When I get into deep water like that I put it in AWD, helps a lot, specially with my 28" mud tires on, it can do it in 2wheel just isn't great on the back diff.
What I've done to it was put my snorkel kit on, a 2 inch lift kit and a clutch kit, heavier weights and springs to help turn my 28's easier. Other then that the rest is accessories, mirrors, light bar, back and front bush bars, about it.

Also are you in awd the entire time? I feel like mine stock would have a tiny bit more trouble
