Remarkable blend of old and new in this composition. Per comments on this and other YT posts of Poulenc's oeuvre, I plan to study him more deeply. Merci beaucoup!

It's wonderful to see and listen to this masterpiece of contemporary music played on the magnificent Pleyel harpsichord. This piece was made for this harpsichord specifically. justice is done. Merci beaucoup.

c'est clairement plus moderne que contemporain

Of course the sirens had to come at the most gentle part of the 1st mvt. Oh well. Such a beautiful piece and so well done. Truly exemplifies the playfulness, sarcastic-ness, and lyrical beauty of Poulenc. Makes me sad that there's such a small audience. This bombastic music deserves a bigger crowd! Amazing work!

Poulenc is little known outside France indeed. He was not labelled something-ist writing some sort of music with the suffix -ism. He is a victim of his time. He wrote for the people's hearts instead of the academicians wild intellect.

Super, dziś po raz pierwszy słucham siedząc w ogrodzie nocą. W dzień brzmi inaczej, ciekaw jestem czy później zasnę?

Wonderful! Modern, yet with a nod to the Baroque. Unfortunately, Poulenc is too often neglected when considering 20th century composers.

Is that Pleyel as soft as it sounds? and why are the keys apparently so noisy?
