The video is so helpful. But is it better to do a decorative surfboard from wood(pine), mdf or from polystyrene? I want smth light but also durable. And what is the best way to coat the ellipsoid areas? It’s hard to give curves smoothly I guess.

Here I thought that this guy was just trying to create and find himself a good surfboard. However they're watching the video realize that what he really wants is "a good man that will treat him right and all through the night". Not my cup of tea dude but hey if that's what you're into then do your thing.
You're better off just getting a dinged up board from a pawn shop. This not a toy, it's a real surfboard. A lot of labor and supply costs. This is how any regular surfboard is assembled, the only difference is he recycled EPS foam from other surfboard blanks he already had. If he wanted to he could sell them for bookoo bucks.
I heard you have to use epoxy resin, not polyester resin, or else it will melt polystyrene ,I'm building one now ,but inadvertantly bought polyester resin, but luckily I saw another video saying not to use polyester resin on this ,or it will melt it .
Most Styrofoam packaging is polystyrene which is what they make most surfboards out of. So, as long as you glue the board correctly together and seal it with some resin it should be good to go. A note though is, you have to be careful painting/glassing poly styrene. Some resin will melt the foam, some paint will melt the foam. So make sure to test your materials on a small piece before just applying it to a whole board.

what’s the line down the middle? i want to make my own board but i keep seeing the line down the middle and i’m just wondering what it is, is it wood?
Yes, it’s a stringer.
Hi ,thanks for the great lesson ,where do you buy the styro foam?
drive by your local industrial area, some shops have huge amounts of styrofoam left over from the products they get shipped.
