The trade off is a lack of service. Part of the reason that pricing is so low is due to an almost nonexistent customer service department, so if your account/phone number is in trouble, you’re on your own
I had 5G Start so its an upgrade getting unlimited plus, premium data and more hotspot. Also my mom still has 5G Get More so we still have all the perks
I’m on a loyalty plan for $35, but they’ve tried their hardest to make me switch. Most recently they suddenly increased my home internet by $5 per month when it was a GUARANTEED $40 per month for two years (it’s been about 10 months so far). They had absolutely no idea why it was increased, and they would not change it back to $40. Instead, they offer a $50 one time credit as an apology. 🙄 that said, I’m switching to xfinity and taking my lines to T-Mobile very soon.
Wait there's a definitely a way to make that saving for. When you signed that agreement, there would have been a contract, call Verizon, ask the agent to pull up the contract and ask them to read the fine print to you, you're looking for them to find any mention of a guarantee that it would be $35, ask the agent to look in the notes and give the month you had made the purchase.
I just switched to Visible after being with Verizon for over 15 years. I’m happy with Visible! I signed up during their sale so I’m getting their $45 plan for $35. Works for me.

The watch and Ipad was free and now if I switch I have to pay full price for remaining months? This plan was the best plan they had and I been with Verizon for 20+ yrs as my Sister worked for them until she retired.
I totally agree they are definitely not improving with myplan if they want to compete they should see for themselves just how bad those plans are however me I am a AT&T customer for life so I don’t know anybody who has these my plans personally but I’m guessing if they did have myplan it must be really unpleasant
Yeah ! I just noticed they were tryna get me to upgrade plans ! Then I compared and thought,” WTF. ?! All this crap is free with my play more plan and now you wanna charge me for it ? F#%€ OFF ! “ 🤣
I still have a grandfather plan, I use like 300gb in hotspot, they keep trying to get me to switch plans.. they did increase the price a couple of years ago, I'm paying 109 but I still think it's worth it since it's fast Internet hot spot
Verizon tried twice selling me the new myplan. They kept saying upgrade, but I keep telling them it is a downgrade for me. I told them keep the $10 less with less options.
I had little luck with Visible. But the 45.00 USMobile seems to work better. It is still not as dependable as my Cricket service, tho when I have a strong signal. It is substantially faster than Cricket. Cricket in this area just has a more available signal than Verizon or TMobile. Speeds are more than acceptable most of the time. And you are where I learned about MintMobile and USMobile. So huge thanks.
I got the 5g get more plan one month before they got rid of it, and I’m not moving anywhere…I also put in the autopay discount, my first responder discount, and the ACP discount that pays 30 dollars towards my 5G get more internet and my current total cost after fees taxes and discounts applied I pay wait for it …………46 dollars in total!
I remember reading about that ACP discount from the government. Unfortunately, after looking it up, it seems that ended on June 1st, 2024 due to lack of government funding. Funny, because supposedly the current administration had over $40 billion to put towards high-speed internet in needy areas, but never connected anyone at all through a plan utilizing this money. There's a story on whitehouse DAT gov where Kamala said they had $90 billion to put towards needy areas for internet access. Here's a direct quote from that story posted on June 26, 2024: "Every person in America should be able to access affordable, high-speed internet no matter where they live or how much they earn. That is why President Biden and I made the largest investment in affordable, high-speed internet in history with $90 billion to address barriers to internet access. That includes helping 23 million families save on their monthly bills through our Affordable Connectivity Program." Not being political, just think this money was either wasted or is sitting unused. As a person in a rural area & only having high-speed access via cell towers, this is aggravating.
i work for Victra Verizon (we’re partnered with them) you can get a hotspot but it’s $10 a month (at least in my state) it’s a perk and it gives you 100GB
Only reason im still with Verizon is because I have the $20 loyalty discount and a 20% discount through work. If not for that I would have switched to Visible a long time ago.
I don’t understand Verizon’s incompetence. They continue to self inflict pain & apparently want to go the way of Sprint. Don’t say it can’t happen or they are to big to fail because I’m sure Sprint thought that to & now look. They continue to bleed thousands of customers. AT&T, T-Mobile & MVNOs are coming for the king and it looks like they won’t miss.
The real problem is when you go to buy a new phone you will not get the same offers on the lower cost plans . The best offers like $1000 off new iPhone 16 pro is only available when you move up to the ultimate plan. If you do the math it is about equal if you just finance the phone. Have a family plan with 6 phones. It would save me about 5 or 6 bucks to go with the welcome my plan if we all kept our phones. So basically Verizon is forcing you to pay more, making you think you are saving money on better phone deals. In actuality they are taking the phone deals completely away. So unless you really need all the perks of the higher plans like hotspots, it does not pay at all to move up.
Tbh the new plan isn’t bad. It’s case by case. Most people won’t care about hotspot data. Not many people use Verizon cloud storage as people either have iCloud or Google one. So if you just want what was always the main perks which are the Apple Music and Disney bundle then you’re paying the same price with the benefit of you now get 4K streaming and Apple Music family plan instead of getting just one account for Apple Music. You could even go Disney bundle and Apple bundle which includes Apple Music, iCloud, Apple Arcade, and Apple TV for the same price. Another thing they added is talk text and data in Mexico and Canada. Totally understand it’s your opinion but maybe considering going over who this plan can really benefit as well. There’s so many other perks to the new plan that it could better suit more people without changing the price of their current bill
While I cant disagree with what you’re saying and have my own dismay with Verizon. I will say that if you’re an iPhone user you likely have the Apple plan that includes Apple Music, iCloud storage amongst other features. Also, more than likely 99% of people are not using over 30GB of hotspot per month. Disney bundle is moot bc the promotion ended on the old plans. One feature I really like is the travel pass. $10 per month gives 3 days per month and they accumulate for 1 year. So essentially 36 days. Which means theoretically you can travel to Europe for 1 month every year and not have to worry. It also gives you 2GB high speed data, unlimited slower speeds after, unlimited talk and text! My biggest grudge with Verizon is customer service sucks now and billing always seems wonky, I have to call regularly.
I find that very few people want hotspot or cloud or any apple perks. Most people want to save as much money as possible. The travel pass is a sweet deal though for sure.
I know people that have switched from Verizon because of their poor signal and bloated sketchy pricing. Verizon is a thing of the past for people in the know. If you know, then you know!
If you’re upgrading to a new phone you have to upgrade to the new Verizon plans ($10 more and no perks). So to get around it I bought a certified preowned phone and they let me keep my old plan. But even so now the terms for the payoff is 36 months vs 24 months. So typically I upgrade every 2 years but now when I do it there still be balance to pay off (12mo) before upgrading.
Verizon made these changes based on their customer’s needs, with these newest plans you only pay for what you want, there are many people pay for perks that they are not using at all just because the old plan includes the perks, so with the newest one you can choose what you want to pay for. And remember, if you en enroll in auto pay you save 10 dollar every month for the PHONE line.
