How do you operate your tv if the button board/ir sensor board is disconnected from the main board? I have a 58PFL4609/f7 that seems to have at least one stuck button but not sure which yet.
Nice video. A little unclear what you fixed. Sounds like you replaced one of the Tactile buttons. Is that the case? You measured the voltage on each tactile button and noticed one was causing the others to short, correct?
i've got a Hitachi 40hxt16u that works fine apart from the remote, I did the remote check so that's fine but the ir sensor might be broken even though the light still turns on, I tried putting a different ir sensor from another tv which also lit up but still no joy. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Yes voltage drop, but better is oscilloscope and check impulses/signal. :) BTW great videos. I had similar problem, but in my TV there is only tactile switches on this board and IR sensor is somewhere else, so I just disconnect this board. It was clean and still there was random button presses. Probably because of not enough filtration of voltage for this board=old capacitors somewhere. This buttons uses only one pin on some MCU, they connect different resistor in voltage divider and MCU sensing voltage on analog input. And if voltage powering this divider is not filtered enough MCU see changes in sensing voltage and recognize pressing of buttons. For digital circuits voltage is filtered enough and everything else works OK. :) sorry for my english. :)
I have a samsung lnt5271fx/xaa and the picture comes on and if connected to a cable box using an HDM port I can interface with the TV, using the cable box remote, as it's acting as a monitor-- but i can't turn off the TV because the TV will neither respond to the remote or the buttons on the tv(touch, not tactile). Would it be the BN96-06152C infra-red board or the BN96-06153B (BN41-00923A) Function and Power IR Board?
So I got a Samsung smart TV, don't know the model right now, but I was just watching TV as normal and I wanted to turn the volume up a bit and it wasn't working. I checked the remote and it's perfect, came across this video and my questions are: 1. How this happend? I never sprayed water or anything into the screen... How a problem like this even develops? 2. I don't have the skills to replace the things you said, should I go to a specialist? Or is it a easy task?
I have 32md301b MAGNAVOX . Can I test this tv same way with the tactile buttons on tv I dont get anything from the buttons So Im thinking its a water damage control tactile board .Will this test work for my tv using the buttons on tv?
It's my remote is the problem. It was working just find yesterday and now today it just decided to not work. Even with new batteries. I have a very old universal remote i program to it but only can turn on and off the tv and nothing else. Idk how my remote isn't working but I'm really annoyed
I replaced my IR sensor but it did not fix my problem with the remote still unable to control the tv. (FYI-the remotes work on my other Vizio TV's so it is definitely not the remote.) Do you know of any other problem inside the TV that could cause this issue? Thanks
You didn' say, but was the corroded switch on the same board as the infrared sensor? The way mine does when you first turn it on everything works but after it warms up you can see the Volume leak back to zero and then none of the manual buttons work again and it does not accept the signal from the remote .... Sorta acts like when a bad capacitor leaks off.
Sometimes the remote still works when this happens but when you try to turn it back up it just keeps trying to move upward but fails. ... I then have to unplug the TV to turn it off.
My apologies for not making this more clear. I'm trying to remember the details on this, but it appears to be a separate board from the one with the switches on it.
I have a Samsung TV and my remote isn't working. Im not sure if it's the remote because my Cable TV remote is working for my TV volume and isn't able to turn the tv on/off anymore. Thinking it's the sensor on the actual t.v. now...
I have a Magnavox TV where is the remote control would not respond right away. What I mean by this is that I would hit power and the TV would start to come on but then it would stop what it was doing and I would have to hit the power button again. After a while it started to need to be pushed 3 times. And I don't mean pushed 3 times in a row you had to push the button wait till the light on the power button on the TV went off and then push it again. The third time the TV would come on. Now what the TV is doing is the remote does not function at all with the TV. I have changed the batteries in the remote that was not the problem. But the power button on the TV itself is also doing the similar thing where I have to push the power button wait for the light in the power button to go off twice and then the third time it brings the TV on. At the same time there is a delay when the TV comes on. The main question I have is is it worth opening the TV and trying to clean some components and get it working again or would it be worth just buying a new one because this TV is quite old. I'm not sure where the tag is on it to tell you exactly what it is. But what I can tell you is it is a Magnavox HGTV and it's old enough that it's not a smart TV.
It often makes more sense to replace your TV. if you can't find simple repair solutions such as replacing bad capacitors. It's not likely that cleaning the TV will help.

Tv still works perfectly after drying, however the remote control wont work. We think the TV is the problem since the remote control didnt get wet. But unlike in your video, the remote wont light up. So maybe the problem is with the remote?
The remote control light is not visible to the naked eye. Many but not all cell phone cameras will allow you to see if the light is coming on in the remote control.. If you don't see the light coming on in the remote control it will not work. Sometimes the infrared light in the remote goes bad and needs to be replaced. The infrared light in the remote control is polarity dependent which means it has a negative and a plus side, so if you install the new light backwards it will not work,
