He approached me on the beach in Deerfield Beach Florida. He was creepy as hell. I was sitting in the sand alone looking out at the ocean. He stood over me to my right and told me to get up and go splash around in the ocean and he would photograph me. I told him no, that i was too short at 5 5 to model. He gave off horrible vibes. I knew he was a freak. The beach was empty because it was off season and late afternoon. We lived blocks from the beach. I walked there all the time. Luckily for me there was a large group of elderly men playing dominoes under a shelter with tables and benches. I walked past the elderly gentleman when i arrived alone at the beach. They knew i wasn't with that creepy POS. They stared at him and didn't stop until he left. He stood over me for what seemed like forever and he kept looking back at the men. I didn't move. I didn't get up as he requested. I just said that one sentence to him. He would not leave right away. I still remember seeing his white pants blowing in the wind. I know he wanted to harm me. I could feel it. The only thing that stopped him were the elderly gentleman staring at him. He finally handed me a business card and asked me to call him for pictures. Finally he left!! He was driving an old classic car it was gold or yellow. Thank God!!! The older men there watching him saved my life. I waited awhile and watched him drive north on A1A. I threw his card in the trash and thanked the gentleman for watching over me and keeping me safe. I walked back home extremely cautiously. I should have called the police and reported his freaky ass. But i was only about 19 and was clueless. But he gave me the creeps. I could feel that he was dangerous. About a week later i saw him on the national ABC news. That he was on a killing spree. I never told my Mom until many years later because i knew he wasn't in the state anymore and i thought my mom wouldn't let me go to the beach anymore. What a relief when i found out he was dead. Happy day!! I saw another program about him and he had already killed in Australia. One of the girls he killed there was on the beach. Thank God those men were there watching out for me. They were staring at him. They knew i didn't arrive with him.
This is crazy. You felt that he was a creep. Other girls said he was charming. You had Angel watching over you.

It's possible that I encountered this monster. I was 19 and working at a mall in Tampa, it was 1984....March. A man approached me, telling me how beautiful I was and that I was model material. He was charming and I was not fearful. He said he wanted to take headshots. I was flattered and thought he had a studio in the mall. When he told me that we needed to go to his car, I hesitated. As a people pleaser at that young age I felt bad turning down the offer after all the compliments, but trusted my gut and did not leave the mall with him. His nice persona got quite pushy at that point. I walked away, thank GOD. No way to know for sure, but the timeline matches up.

@@truthseeker474 good question. It's been argued that one of the main reasons why these killers were so successful was that law enforcement wasn't equipped to handle them. And now that it is better equipped, would be serial killers are being arrested before they can become one.

This wouldn’t have been the first time the cops didn’t warn the public “to avoid a panic.” In this case, it would have been better for women to panic-and be very wary of strange guys approaching them to model. If I remember correctly, this was the case that taught women to be cautious of that type of approach.
They let things that way arguing that if you warn the public he will escape or hide or cross the border and vanish. The problem is that the predator also knows that and he can continue preying on his next victims non-stop-mode. Ladies, never give up on your guns or self'defense course. I know women who survived because they had a gun or could fight. Fight. Fight. Fight. And scream "fire!". Don't scream "help" because nobody will come but if you scream "FIRE!" a multitude of curious people will come from everywhere to look.

The only reason we know that his seventh victim “helped” abduct his eighth at all is because she willingly told her story in full, without omitting that, which she easily could’ve. This child was viciously tortured and raped and faced with grisly death for days and days on end, and people here are so shocked and appalled that she followed the commands of her psychopathic captor. People saying they should’ve put that poor child in jail. Incredible. I have to stop reading these comment sections.
I guess its a good thing crime like this ewokes emotion among the rest of us. However as personalities goes, as killers are different, so are we. And are reactions likewise.
I agree that it is hard to sometimes understand other people attitudes, reactions and rationalizations. Or maybe the the lack of the latter.
It is easier to be ignorant, than to truly make the effort to understand. And some like to have it easy on this planet.

She’s a surviving victim because her survival instincts kicked in. She was compliant doing everything he said because she knew if she panicked he’d kill her. As he was raping and torturing her she held it all in because these types of killers want the victim to cry and beg it gives them power. No one knows how they’d react unless in this situation! If she didn’t comply with the killer she’d be dead.
Watching this I felt that the incompetence of law enforcement was so apparent.

Chris Wildler was born in Australia in 1945, & it was in Australia he started his violence & sexual assaults against girls.
In 1963, at age 17, he committed his first known rape of a 13yo girl. He was charged & sentenced to Probation.
He started his killing spree in Sydney, Australia in 1965. By this time he had already had a serious Australian Criminal Record, most of them sex crimes against young girls. However he was never a suspect for these Wanda murders, despite this.
He committed his violence & rapes against girls in Australia until 1969, when he emigrated to America.
Not sure whether it was to escape the many charges he had or whether it was his wife who had divorced him & dobbed him into Police.
Straight away in Florida his violence, sexual assaults & rapes began.
He collected a few charges along the way. Fast forward to 1982 where I think he had serious rape charges. To escape these he flew back to Australia.
In the Sydney Suburb of Manly Chris Wildler posed as a fashion photographer & continued a lot more violence & rapes.
Didn't take him long to be caught, so in 1983 he flew back to America.
.......and this is when this Video starts. Of course 1984 he started to commit his first known American murders.
Considering Chris Wildler murdered 2 x 15yo girls in Australia in 1965, & it wasn't until 1984 he committed his first known American murders, how many more murders is he responsible for. We will never know, but it could well be 20, 40, even 50+
The scary thing is that Chris Wilder was very active between 1963 & 1984, in both Australia & America. As far as I know he didn't spend anytime in Prison & he didnt slow down since commiting his first rape in 1963.
The FBI should have held the press conference after the Mercury Cougar was stolen and Wilder's photo released nationwide . Too much time was lost .
The only explanation that I can give is that this delay was on purpose…..we are talking about 1984 and not 1884….if he was a political rebel ….revolutionary etc ….he will be dead on the first days

I’ve read about hundreds of serial killers, I’m a true crime buff… but particularly after reading the Anne Rule story about Christopher Wilder “profile of a spree killer”…. This man is probably the most horrifying and scary man I’ve ever heard of.
Literally the LAST serial killer you would ever want to encounter. A true monster.
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is worse than Leonard Lake and Charles NG. Those 2 had no qualms about abducting and murdering couples and their infant children. Then you have the additional cruelty of sexually savaging the women on camera, the victims knowing that their rapes will be watched many times after they’re dead. Both mothers tortured and raped in a tiny prison while simultaneously enduring the agony of knowing or suspecting their babies were dead. I’ve never heard of even War Atrocities as extreme as that.

If some police were properly trained to take reports of missing people more seriously, instead of being lazy and dismissing the missing as "running away", etc, a lot more people would probably still be alive.
The attitude of police has gotten worse. If you call for help to your home because of prowler or abuse, you have 50% of being shot, talked to worse than a dog. Only reason to call Police is to have a long list of reports when you have to Save yourself. It takes a Special Man in Law enforcement to go after these evil people. God Bless the victims families and the Special Lawmen that do these low life parasites away.

We called the Police because he wanted my daughter to undress and put Pjs on, we asked him questions then we called the cops he packed up and left. When we said we were calling the cops.

I recall a US hitchhiker who got into Canada from N.Y. because the elderly Canadian who picked him up felt sorry for him...posed as his son...Hitch hiked across Canada...3,000 miles and was never checked by police once! Worked illegally in restaurants as a dishwasher....he had 4 contagious diseases..all were deadly.... Finally got checked in the Fraser Valley and was kicked out of Canada there.........3 months later....

GOOD QUESTION. i was one of the lucky ones who got away and i was working in a mall when he came up to me
They were on his trail but the video said that all the police had to follow were the murders. It takes time to formulate enough evidence to make bold statments as if they are 100% sure. I do not know. But the Police believed he was heading west. It took time before he was cited as top ten most wanted. Video also said that they dusted a whole house where he had stayed and found not one single print.
From first known murder till the capture did not seem an a very long time. Infomation the Police had to go was 'A Purple Car'.
This is the definition of evil.
So frustrating that in case after case, the families have to beg and scrape together information before police will do their jobs. Missing adults should be taken seriously from the get-go.

When the police were closing in on him, he shot himself, thinking he would avoid prosecution. Did he not realize that he would now go before a judge far above any judge he would have faced on earth? Any suffering he might have faced in prison is pleasure able compared to the suffering he is going through now, has been for nearly 40 years, and will be for all eternity, especially if he died unrepentant.

She was 16, not 5. No excuse at that point not to bail on him. Emotionally shattered or not, your survival instinct should kick in at some point. Aiding him in kidnapping the next girl is inexcusable. Unless she figured he had a gun on her and was going to shoot her dead in the mall in front of everyone, that was her time to run.

I remember back when shopping malls did these stupid model searches and had fake scouts stopping teen girls in the mall to pretend to discover them. They were never model searches. No woman ever performing in one of those things ever got signed to a contract. They're all just ways to sell clothes, mostly to the girls doing the 'modeling'. What’s amazing is this guy drives around for weeks in a stolen car of a married woman. Yet no law enforcement ever spots this stolen car. Amazing. That’s because local police departments were ignored by the FBI. Which means that many of these woman could have been saved if the stolen car had been looked for and stopped this angry kangaroo character from killing as many women as he did. Local police departments and the FBI Both NEED TO WITK TOGETHER. Instead of ego tripping on each other’s law enforcements agencies. Shame shame.

when was this car reported as stolen? who reported it as stolen? who was it reported to? how do you know the FBI and police were not both looking for it? how do you know either of them was looking for it? what makes you think that local police were ignored by the FBI in the first place and if they were, how do you know that there is a correlation between FBI ignoring police, this vehicle not being found and many women being able to be saved?

Her name was Terry Graham Walden. Yes was the kindest, most gentle, beautiful soul. She was a friend of mine from kindergarten all the way through high school graduation and everyone who knew her still misses her terribly. She was one of the people I’ve most respected I’m life and because of this monster her child grew up without a mother.

Back in the early 90's, there were a LOT of males who were "amateur" or "part-time" photographers. Some were legitimate, but most were not. I was an amateur or aspiring model at this time, and most of us were told to be aware of them, or at least to be careful. I was in Georgia at the time, and this was taking place everywhere.

I was sitting on an empty beach when that sob approached me. Thank God there were a bunch of old men playing cards in the picnic area before the sand. They watched him bothering me. He asked me about modeling. Told me to get up and pose in the water. I told him I was only 5 5 and too short. He stood over me and kept looking around. He was so FN creepy. I can still see his white pants next to me. I didn't even stand up. He handed me a card and he have a camera around his neck. Thank God I was raised to be aware of crazy people. But those old guys saw him and his car. I totally ignored him. Thank God those old men were there. The guy definitely had a creepy vibe. A few weeks later I saw his ugly face on the news. This was in Deerfield Beach by the pier. There use to be a picnic area with concrete tables and parking. This was the beginning of his killing spree. He was a sick freak. Teach your children to be aware, to not trust, to be aware if they are being followed, etc...I totally picked up on his energy. He was scary.

So heart breaking. This story adds more stress to my life but teaches us one things, first, importance of being in touch with the media (news in which ever form) and taking precautions. If only this info was relayed much earlier by the FBI/POLICE, some victims may have not fallen to the predator and secondly if these teenagers had ignored these offers from a stranger like some were doing tho I guess he had such a convincing tongue to these innocent young women. It gives us lessons to teach our children not to accept offers from strangers. May the almighty God rest their souls in Eternal peace.

I was once approached by a man who claimed to want to have me model for him. It made me think of cases like these. Before anyone goes "Maybe you passed up a great opportunity" I'll have to tell you that I'm short and fat so not exactly model material. Also, I was 34 years old at the time I was approached. It really didn't feel like it was gonna lead to anything good.
Such a shame the families didn't get to see him fry, but at least he's dead and they don't have to think about him. He was certainly one of the worst that I can remember hearing about.

When Tina Marie was in the mall, she should have raised the alarm. I get that she was traumatised, but she was coherent enough to lure the next victim. He would have been caught sooner.
But let's not blame survivors for the choices they made 35 years ago as young girls, trying to survive, in a life-threating situation they likely had no experience, or training for. on how to handle. I remember the Wilder case. I was going to collage in Tallahassee at the time. It freaked me out a little since I had been at the same mall, parked in the same area in the timeframe of the abduction. Her description on tv could have been me. I had been raped three years earlier, this freaked me out a bit at the time.

I've been watching these documentaries for sometime now. This one has made me extremely angry that such an evil man with so many law enforcement forces in America could do what he did for so long. Young women in America and elsewhere should all learn self-defense. They should also learn not to be so gullible and vain. I happened to buy a Life magazine in the summer of 1984, because I saw a picture of movie star Harrison Ford, and actress Kate Capshaw on the cover advertising the Raiders of the Lost Ark sequel and wanted to know more about it. It happened to have a small written article about this serial killer in it, Christopher Wilder, showing that one picture of him at a modeling show, with camera in hand, checking out those girls for possible victims. At the time, I thought nothing of it, but when I saw this episode of the FBI Files many decades later, it dawned on me this was the same serial killer I read about back in the 1984 Life magazine. Thank God he was finally stopped and taken out.
The police announced to the public bout this criminal after so many deaths, it's quite late.

If a "missing person's" case being reported, was related to a police officer in any way, it would NEVER be considered a case of " Oh they just ran away". EVERY officer would be out hunting for the person, who in every case should be considered as a VICTIM .
