My dad has been bringing up my broken window for over a year now, I'm not even the one who initially broke it, it's an old house, I'm the 5th kid, the last one at home and because it finally gave out when I had the room, he sees at as my fault. Instead of listening to him continue to bitch about it, I've decided to be productive and fix it as opposed to destructive and just complain and make passive aggressive comments. As a 17 year old girl with no prior window maintenance experience, this was a very clear and easy to understand video, thank you very much.
Hi. Thanks for this video. Would u have a video on how to replace the above as u showed with a top hinge push out window. Ie the window doesn't swivel sideways but outwards with the hinge on top.
is that sliding shoe supposed to be attached to the window? mine came off, the shoe is in the track and top part of the window is hanging out of the house only attached at the bottom
I want to use casement windows in my kitchen and found someone who is selling two left hinge windows from a construction project for which they weren't used. Can you change a left hinge into a right hinge by moving the hinge? Or, can you hang two left hinge windows in the same space or would that not work/look awful? Thanks!
hi i moved into an apartment and that turn part isnt connected to the frame so the draft comes in my house. i have to use screws and nails on a string to close it. its in the bathroom. landlord wont fix it and it right in the shower part of the wall
+qwaneasia Hmm, it sounds like you're referring to the "operator" portion of the window. Can you see a bracket on your window similar to the one shown at 2:20 in the video?
Knowing the brand of window is not important since many manufactures use the same brand of hardware. Simply compare your hinge to the specifications provided on the product store webpage.
I have an antique wooden window on a house recently purchased that was built over 100 years ago. It is a casement window but most of the original parts were stripped off, I'm looking for a replacement kit, it opens but that's all.
Hi SWISCO - First, GREAT vid. Much appreciated. Haven't yet taken things apart to see exactly what's going on. In short, when the window is cranked close, the base of the window can now crank right out of the end of the track underneath the window - pivot side. If I have to remove to widow - I'd love to find something simple, like one of those screwdriver clips simply came loose - rather than some permanent thing broke off. From your experience, are there any notoriously weak elements that can break on the "TRUTH" tracking systems? The casement windows we have are pretty large. 2nd story, 4' x 5' tall - double pane, french window style ... maybe 50 Lbs I'd guess. Likely I'll have to hump this bad boy completely off the frame - but just in case you can suggest some easy thing to check before doing so, thought I'd give you folks a shout. Thanks in advance for any advice you might provid. Gary
I have the newe style ( 1999- present) PELLA casement window.. after going thru TWO hinged operators I decided to just modify it. in a couple yrs that window will be replaced with a double hung. Just tired of prying it open then having to bang on it to shut it becuase the stupid thing is frozen and stripped >:( PELLA SUCKS.
Unfortunately, the terrible Pella casement windows 2002-2009 made sure that their hinge is sealed in with a screw only, so the hinge can't be adusted. You have to call them to come out to do the simple adjustment for ar least $120.00 a window. Their plan. Pella is a rip off company...beware of them.
Just used this video to replace a bottom hinge. Thank you for the step-by-step guide!

You cannot change a left hand hinge into a right hand. They are factory assembled to be one or the other.
mine make a cracking sound and the window moves out of possition..
Sounds like you could use a new hinge set! We can help you more here - www.swisco.com/page-id-part

What’s the bottom block called under the window
We aren't sure what you mean. Which block? Where under the window?
how long does it normally take to get a response for a help topic on your website?
Here in the video team, we don't work with the researchers. You'd want to email customer support at help@swisco.com to follow up on your inquiry.
Thanks! Well done

WHY do windows have to be so complex anyhow? nothing like a good old double hung :)
