Yet another great video,
What is particularly important for us students to notice is how empowering your tutorials are.

Thank you. So easy to follow. Really appreciate this.
Glad it was helpful!
Great Video and a really good strategy to bring the speed up...
Fantastic lesson! This sort of breaking down helps me a lot.
Glad it helped! Share with any other pipers you think it could help. 👍👍
Good tutorial Man! I am sure this will help a lot of pipers. Keep em coming.
Great tutorial Mat. You put things over very well and clearly presented..
Glad it was helpful!
The video worked perfect could you do highland laddie this way thanks
You could use all these same techniques for Highland Laddie. No plans at his time to make a tutorial on that tune (certainly working on outlining/scripting my upcoming highland bagpipe drones series).
Nice one, Matt. Tricky tune. Been wanting to learn this one for a long time, and speed up my playing. Thanks for the road map. I'm going to get 'er done.
Rock on!
Matt, really good job on this common-but VERY difficult tune-for novice pipers. I tried this earlier in my 1.5 year-long piper-sojourn-to-date (a statement unto itself). It was a mess. Put simply, you’re “double timing” on your counting. I found clapping it out to a metronome then trying it slow in double time fashion has helped. The better I got the faster I sped up the metronome. More or less what Matt’s done here. Before your know it, double time sounds like normal time. Matt has forgot more about piping than I know, but I would pick a simpler tune to try this. 79ths Farewell to Gilbrater. Not a easy tune either but is more open. Highland Laddie would be another good one before the Bear.
Thanks! And while I use "The Black Bear" in this as an example, folks can apply these methods to any tune they want to speed up or improve.
great stuff, as always
Liked the bit about finding the hidden triplets. Great tutorial. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! I'll likely make a separate video all about hidden triplets (and quadruplets!) sometime soon.
Advice Worked great on the tune could you do the same on itchy fingers thanks
You could apply this technique to Itchy Fingers or any tune. There are no current plans for a video tutorial on Itchy Fingers (it's a relatively new tune and I don't have the rights to share the sheet music).
Nice tutorial! Just curious what metronome app are you using?
