Thanks for the video. When I try to mount my samba share, I'm getting the following error: "create storage failed: mount error: Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) and kernel log messages (dmesg) (500)"
for though is that you are using a old version on SMB on your NAS here is a link to where that though came from forum.proxmox.com/threads/cifs-issue-error-with-cfs-lock-file-storage_cfg-working-now-but-shows-question-mark.45962/
@@virtualizeeverything Thank you for the reply. My SMB is 4 HDD connected to USB to my router and my Asus router is managing the SMB. What I'm trying to do is being able to access the pictures on one of the HDD from everywhere within the network and also running plex with the movies I have on another hdd. For Plex I tried a container and I also created an Ubuntu server on a vm, ran plex on the server, Ubuntu see the SMB without problems but Plex just see the Proxmox drive.
Hello I was curious as to the use of an eSATA enclosure with 4 hard drives. Would that be considered direct attached storage? What limitations would there be to the size of the drives in the enclosure? Finally could this shared over the network? Thanks 🙏 if you can answer any of these questions. Thanks for presenting Proxmox content as well
Yes I would call eSATA direct attached storage. The limitations you will find will be if you are using LXC ZFS or some other file system, They will be defiant for each system. You will need to setup a LXC or VM to share over the network but yes it can be done and it is not hard we have videos on doing the with NFS or SMB
Hey, thanks for your content! Can you do a video discussing the built-in Port Mapping utility in V 8? In particular, how we could use it to passthrough USB Storage to Casa OS or nextcloud in an LXC? I've tried googling the documemtation for soecific info regarding that new "port mapping" feature, but cant find anything concrete that really explains how to use effectively. Thanks!
I am thinking of taking an old Win 10 pc that I use with Plex and Virtual Box and converting everything to Proxmox. The problem I think would be that I have a large media drive (~8 tb of content) and I don't want to wipe the drive and lose everything. What's the best way to migrate that data into proxmox? I don't know much about proxmox but I would have assumed I could have a drive that all VM's could see, as I was thinking about running CasaOS on VM with the Arr suite and plex/jellyfin, then Nextcloud or something for NAS.

you can import VBox VMs into Proxmox here is a video that will help you with this ua-cam.com/video/8sG97QvyDI4/v-deo.html
instead of multiple cd .. when you want to get to root, cd /
