Yes, when the viola is playing the middle voice it won't sound as melodic as the violin parts. Best wishes!

for "the medallion calls" section, i would try to play legato instead of staccato. also, third position from 62-69 sounds more "piratey" that in normal first position.

Many violists love the middle voice that doesn't always have the melody, its certainly a different role tho, obviously not what you prefer:)
