      Hey Tom,
      indeed, I´ve got a question :-). I am looking for german searching terms/ keywords but for more than one country market. We offer our services currently in Germany, Austria and Swiss. Our content is written
      in german language. So what Google search page do you recommend to chose to get smarter results- global (.com) or local (like .de or .au or .ch...)?
      Thanks a lot,
      Anastasia

    Hi,
    It is really worth video.
    I have only one doubt.
    for example, if there are 15 pages, the word "chicago photography" will be repeating for all pages, I mean the meta name, description etc. so will it be a problem for the website or google has no problem with that ?
    Your advise will really help us...
    Thanking you..!!

    Well done Tom. Do you have any tips about ranking high without much text? I'll be actually use my website for photography in Holland, but I'll build it more like a portfolio. It would be weird to put a lot of text in it since it's about my photography. Your help would be very appriciated!

    • @onlinemediamasters
      @onlinemediamasters  9 років тому

      +Lars Sanen hey Lars, sorry about the late reply. I actually wrote a WordPress SEO article specifically for photographers: onlinemediamasters.com/wordpress-seo-for-photographers/

      @Larslovesjhoney 9 років тому

      I read your article, nice job. One question though. Is it important to use your home page keyword as is, or can you choose different variations? In holland my keyword would be: fotograaf Tilburg (photographer Tilburg) but that just sounds stupid in a sentence.. Would SEO screw me if I say photographer IN Tilburg, but still keep my keyword as photographer tilburg?

      +Top Ads you can do keyword research using UA-cam's Autocomplete option, or Google Autocomplete works too. Upload the video with your keyword in the file name, title, then write a nice long description about the video. Then you want to get more views/likes/comments. Of course a good video will get those naturally, but promoting it will also help.

    Great video! Very helpful. But I'm stuck at a problem now. I added the focus keywords to some of my posts initially, but now I can't find the Yoast SEO box. When I "Edit" a post and scroll down, I see only Post Settings, Revisions, Comments and Author. I'm not sure what I did for this to happen. Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks.

    • @TomDupuis
      @TomDupuis 9 років тому

      Thanks! Make sure the Yoast SEO meta box is enabled for posts. Check this under the Yoast Settings --> Titles & Metas --> Post Types, then make sure the Yoast SEO meta box is not hidden. Let me know if that works...

    • @prasadnm5243
      @prasadnm5243 9 років тому

      Its not hidden for all the 3 post types I have (Posts, Pages, Media). Just to make sure, I checked and unchecked the hide option and saved the settings. But I still don't see it while editing the post.
      Also, I recently updated the Yoast SEO plugin to Version 3.0.7. Does this have a different way of doing it?

    • @TomDupuis
      @TomDupuis 9 років тому

      The newest version of Yoast has the content analysis showing automatically so you don't have to click the "page analysis" tab. And I know setting your focus keyword, saving the post, then refreshing the page helps sometimes. But I'm not sure if those will fix it... other than what I suggested I don't know why it wouldn't show up. Have you read Yoast's support forum to see if other people are having the issue/contacted them?

    I have Yoast SEO Premium and one has the option to choose multiple focus keywords. I know not to duplicate keywords on different pages, but do you know if there is a primary focus keyword, or do all have the same amount of pull?

    Update Nov. 2016...
    1. Just spent 3 days and 20mg of adderall working on my new Yoast tutorial which includes the new settings (which I constantly keep updated and includes a zip file you can import directly to Yoast), newly released Yoast features, and new keyword research/content optimization tips www.onlinemediamasters.com/yoast-wordpress-seo-settings/
    2. Use Moz Keyword Explorer instead of Google Keyword Planner (free and doesn't make you sign up for AdWords plus has an option to group related keywords so you're not scrolling through the same ones) moz.com/products/pro/keyword-explorer
    3. Use MozBar Google Chrome Extension to Google any keyword and see how competitive it is based on DA (domain authority) and PA (page authority) so you're not targeting super competitive keywords, but DO NOT forget to analyze search results yourself to see how "good" the content you're competing with is: chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mozbar/eakacpaijcpapndcfffdgphdiccmpknp?hl=en
    4. Backlinko's infographic on "the anatomy of a perfectly optimized page" is more helpful than Yoast's green lights will ever be backlinko.com/on-page-seo
    5. Not related to Yoast, but rich snippets are a big part of content optimization by enhancing snippets with review stars, recipe information, etc. Here's a tutorial: www.onlinemediamasters.com/how-to-add-rich-snippets-to-wordpress/
    I also have a solid WordPress speed optimization guide (just as good as this video) which includes 30+ tips to make your site load faster www.onlinemediamasters.com/why-is-wordpress-so-slow/
    See all my WordPress SEO / Speed Optimization tutorials: www.onlinemediamasters.com/

    • @onlinemediamasters
      @onlinemediamasters  8 років тому

      Hi Sara, can you:
      a) check your Yoast settings (SEO --> Titles & Metas) then make sure the "Yoast SEO Meta Box" is enabled for pages, pages, and any other content you want to optimize?
      b) when you edit a page or post, scroll down and set the focus keyword. You will need to refresh (republish) the page for the SEO box to show

    Why is there ever any talk of multiple keywords? For instance when you went on to talk about local vs national keywords and the number of keyword associated with them. I thought that you were restrained to using only one keyword per page. Is it simply a must to have multiple pages no matter how redundant just to increase the number of keywords?
    Sorry for the ignorant question. Just new to this stuff.

    • @onlinemediamasters
      @onlinemediamasters  8 років тому

      Not ignorant at all. You can target synonyms on the same page by researching 1 primary keyword + 1 secondary keyword, then including partial matches of both in your page title, SEO title, and meta description. I avoid including both as exact matches since this makes your headline looks spammy (eg. WordPress Theme Packages, WordPress Developer Packs)... so instead I would craft a headline that incorporates both like "The 10 Best WordPress Theme Packages (Developer Packs). That has the keyword "WordPress Theme Packages" and a partial match of "WordPress Developer Packs."
      Yoast premium has a multiple keywords featured but it's kind of useless since secondary keywords are often used as partial matches, but Yoast only detects exact matches. Hope that clarifies things :)

    • @trantergrey8743
      @trantergrey8743 8 років тому

      okay thank you it does clear some things up. But hat leads me to another question.
      I am picking up the slack from from what i can tell is a terrible seo job on medac.com
      They are using yoast and in the plugin they are using their own name on the homepage (as well as the keyword "services" on the services page, lol)
      If they are not using the target keyword "anesthesia billing" , then why is the home page ranking number 4 for that search term at the moment? Did google just see that keyword used a few on the page?
      OR
      does setting the target keyword in Yoast not do anything and is just a way to track your keyword usage throughout the page?

    It's pronounce "boo-dwahr". Or "boo-dwah" with a good French accent. It means "bedroom" as in "bedroom sexytime lingerie photos for your boyfriend" photography.
