He beat cancer and hes beating the drums again. Such a fantastic phenomenal thrash drummer. This guys is a fucking artillery cannon on the kit. Brutal heavy handed drummer.
Such a legend! A master of dynamics AND brutality!
Thank you so much forchaving Tom on. He's such a huge influence for Thrash Metal drummers 🤘🏽🥁🤘🏽
Tom Hunting is an absolute drumming beast. Only a highly trained Octopus could come close to equaling his performance on the Persona Non Grata album. Great interview. Great drummer. Great band. Grear channel.
🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻
A "Strike of the beast", literally! 😄
My Favourite Thrash drummer of all time!! What an absolute Legend🙌🏻🤘🏻
⚡️🐐⚡️
I can 100% relate to what he was saying about hearing loss in his left ear. For the past 25+ years, I've had my main 18" china on the right side of my kit, and wasn't always the best about protecting my ears when playing. I can barely hear with my right ear these days. Like probably 50-75% hearing loss in that ear. It's not the low frequencies that damage your hearing, it's the highs. All of that super high frequency, trashy white noise generated by chinas WILL fuck your ears up. Best advice I can give young drummers is to get in the habit of protecting your hearing early on. Get a good pair of full frequency ear plugs (huge part of the reason I was bad about hearing protection was I hated how old earplugs only cut the highs, and left a muddy mess for you to listen to), as well as a good pair of isolating in ears if you're going to be playing along with anything. Your ears WILL thank you!
Been drumming since the age of 14, I’m now 47 and everything you said I agree 💯. I’ve been living with hearing loss in my right ear since sometime in my 20’s. Now I only hear certain frequencies almost completely mono. Protect your hearing folks!
Awesome to catch this, I been playing 4 years respect Tom so much Iam 63 yr. old rocker guitar player and recent drummer,! drumming is a rush, I tell folks drums are in league of their own!! Thanks guys!!
Hell yeah! Thanks for hangin, lots more where this came from!
Awesome kit. Tom's one hell of a drummer. Exodus rules.
🤘🤘It sounds so good!
My favourite thrash drummer, fucking quality.
Absolute drum god!!
LEGEND! ⚡️🤘⚡️
I play 5a as well, always felt the best in my hands. Awesome guy, great stuff!
Saw exodus, testsment, and death angel in salt lake last year...tom is phenominal behind those drums...absolute beast and my favorite thrash drummer of em all...exodus has always kicked ass
Grew up in same area as the guys from Exodus and saw them doing their first backyard shows. Tom was always a great kid.
Amazing channel, stacked with drum tours thank you
Thanks for watching! More to come!
Legend i love to play his stuff, unique style and awesome drummer going to see him live this summer, cant wait
Tom looks great! Great Job Tom!! 😊
I am a left handed drummer myself, its hard there in the right handed world! Great video! 👍
This dude and Charlie benante are underrated af!!!
👏👏👏
Greatest Thrash Metal Drummer - Possibly. Legend - 100%
I think based on influence alone, 💯 break down technique and pushing and entire genre forward, even more undeniable. absolute 🐐 contender
Yay love waking up to these videos! Rock on 🤘
This one pairs well with 3 cups of coffee!
I got to meet Tom and the rest of the guy all super nice and down to earth
I’m happy to hear that he “glances” the cymbals rather than hitting them. You get more mileage out of them plus sound a lot better.
I loved hearing his approach to technique and nuance in a genre where people might assume it was all caveman brutality.
What a thoroughly, decent chap! 🙂🤘
He was super rad and gracious!
I saw Exodus with Anthrax and Black Label Society last year!
Best!!❤
⚡️🤘⚡️
Really like his snare sound. Is it a dampner on top making such a difference? Guitar player but I love learning from these drum rundowns. I know he's setup for a show but how cool would it be to have such a brutal backdrop in a jam space.
Hey, thanks for watchin'! Those two dampener gels are definitely bringing some overtone control to the party. That Evans EC Reverse Dot snare head is packed with tone features too. That center dot and the overtone rings on the outside all play into increased attack and less muddy midrange!
Drumworld in SF is where I got my first “real” kit!!! Pearl Export in Deep Ocean Blue.
⚡️🤘⚡️
You got to have Dave McClain on this channel. He's a drum god too!!
😆 Who is even in Machine Head any more ? They're almost as bad as Megadeth for their revolving door.
@DavidOakesMusic Luckily he isn't in MH anymore! He's too good for them & did make there best albums anyways. You're right MH nowadays is just 'The Robb Flynn Show'. But Dave McClain as a drummer & individual, he's absolutely brilliant & a very great down to earth guy! 🤟🏻
Man, Yamaha needs to get their Sparkle Bursts and Sparkle Fades back in production. Good to know someone still has a cool looking Yamaha kit. Now a days Yamaha redesigns the color black or white. That kit pops under the stage lights; which is where all performances take place!
These are certainly sexy!
Looking great is a big part of performing. A sparkly kit in a dark room under stage lights is a great way to capture attention; like when a light show adds to captivate an audience. If you have any connection to a Yamaha team member please share my message lol @@drumrundown
if you go back in the day and compare the drumming on Bonded and Kill Em All, Lars is way more accessible. with Tom, it was like the first masterclass in thrash drumming. he's always been at another level.
Please get Dale Crover! So unique and inspiring for drummers.
That would be so rad!
I'm waiting for Danny Carey 🔧
The new white whale...
yep! 😁 it's on yt!!
A real trash drummer!!! Blasting for soooo many years, keep shining Tom!
