Remember buying this tape out of his car in the late 70s or early 80 in north Platte Nebraska, at the buffalo bill rodeo, drank beer and had a great night.
My husband and I rent a property from the songwriter, Gary McMahan. We live right next door. There's a fabulous mural that can been seen on top of a building in downtown Denver that's a portrait of Gary complete with hat, mustache and guitar. I don't mean to say that Chris isn't, but Gary is truly the real thing, cowboy through and through. I had to learn early on that women don't talk back.
Damn! Three years late comment, lol. My dad listens to every song C. Ledoux ever recorded... everyday, lol 😅 but we don't mind at all. He's trying to get the family out to Johnson Co. (He listens to a lot of Ned, Chris's son, too).
Hey man, count those blessings, At least an 8 track had the material to stand the Storm....But every time I throw a cassette in, I always wonder if that filament is gonna come shooting back out at me.....Ya know, I have found very few reasons for the World Wide Web, to feel beneficial......But, I can say now, That at least I can get to Ledoux, without worry,s of my tape,s. Those were the days tho, Yeah? Back in the before Compact Disc,s!
@@zachsimmerock3420 coming in here a bit late but I knew Chris I talked with him many times years ago I'm 66 now and it doesn't seem like it was that many years ago that I was trying to make a dollar going down the rodeo road riding saddlebroncs but I have to give the nod of the head to the cassette it was a hundred times better than the eight track and both were better than the CD IMHO
I worked the Hay Creek ranch out of Madras Oregon when I was a kid. I'm 72 now can still sit a horse and have never forgotten what I learned back then.
16,809 views for Chris; 203 views for the guy that wrote the song, Gary McMahon. I love Chris' music. He did a great job on the song. Also covered by Ian Tyson. Not to take anything away from Chris, but, come on, how about some appreciation for the writer? Kind of like Joan Baez doing a Bob Dylan song, but in a cowboy audience.
Terrific, just sorry he made a significant change in the lyrics from, “I got this saddle, and it ain’t for sale.” “Sold his saddle” is a cowboy expression filled with meaning.

if I had to describe Chris Ladoux in one world it would be AUTHENTIC

I actually worked on the Double Diamond, out east of Dubois, WY. I was just like the song, I was a damn poor excuse of a man when I was there.
We learned to earn a wage though, so my hats off to all that hear the call and go. Keep livin that Buckaroo life, the only freedom there really is
I have him on vinyl

For real.... I love the older version from songbook of the american west, but this one might be the best version recorded by anyone, hands down.
I think I still have everyone of his cassette tape.
