    If you have any tips on what to do when a lamb over braces that would help me a lot with my lamb thank you

    • @BarSZRanch
      @BarSZRanch  2 роки тому +1

      The more you work with your lamb the better. We find that some lambs require an extremely calm “handle”. This just means that maybe you need to be more relaxed as you work with your lamb and see if the lamb can relax and not push so hard. You may also have to get a little more creative in how you stand and handle your lamb. Knowing how to show your specific lamb by doing what you have to do to get them to look their best, is what showmanship is all about. You need to spend a lot of time trying all different ways of moving around your lamb and holding it, to see what allows it to not brace so hard.

    Do you have any recommendations for a really really ski-dish ewe? I’m having a very hard time getting her to walk and or even just get a hold of…. Iv tried sitting in her pen holding the food but nothings really working, I may just need more time, but if you do thanks! Also btw the showing tips were great!!😊

    Any tips on how to earn a show lambs trust? We have 2 and they run from us everyday. Still working on halter breaking. Great video! Saved for when we start show practice.

    • @BarSZRanch
      @BarSZRanch  2 роки тому +2

      Howdy, Loreal! You can never spend too much time with your lamb! Some lambs are always going to run no matter how many hours you spend sitting with them and handling them. We recommend staying quiet and calm, but doing what you need to do daily to catch and handle your lamb. The more you catch and handle them, the less fearful they become. My kids will halter their lambs and take them with them to do all of the choirs on the ranch. This takes a lot of extra effort and time in the beginning, but eventually, the lambs are easy to handle and used to all kinds of noise, people, and other animals. It’s well worth the investment of time!

      Kailey is working with a Hampshire breed of lamb. It is winter and the lamb is very wooly!! The extra wool may be what is making you think her legs look different.
