Morning Jeff, what a lovely ride to the reservoir & well worth it for the utter peace & calm of the water & scenery.
Gladys looking great, hope you have the bottle of champagne ready to launch her in a short time.
Thank you for the video, breath of fresh air to start my week.

Morning Annie - glad you liked it!
Yes, it was so nice there - very quiet too. I'm off out early today to do this week's filming - somewhere less quiet though...
Still looking good for launch week commencing 19th - keep those fingers crossed for me! 😁

Very pretty scenery Jeff, and am glad that you were able to get the rear tire puncture repaired on the Brompton successfully 😅

Hi Angela! Yes, it is beautiful there. 😊
Quite complicated changing the rear wheel (compared to a road bike, that is) - but I'll know how to do it if it happens again. 👍

Hi I drove down the Talybont road passed the reservoir on the Gremlin Motor Rally organised by Brecon Motor Club in 1973 and it was beautiful then I dont think it has changed much , and we were careful so we didn't hit the bridge, great memories! of a beautiful place'

Hi Tim. Wow - 1973! Very glad to hear it's not changed much over the years - a really lovely place to go - I wonder how many people from Brecon have been there - feels like a hidden gem.
Glad to have brought back those memories and good to hear you didn't hit the bridge!
      Cheers, Jeff 👍

Hi Jeff hope your keeping well.
Another interesting vlog and more pics of Gladys 😊she's looking fabulous and sharp what a beautiful finish definitely worth waiting for 😮😊
Pleased to see your Brompton is back on the road /toe path etc.
Usk is a beautiful town/village I never stopped but always happy to drive slowly though on my way to Pontypool 😊
I sometimes kick myself that I never stopped but I was in too much of a rush to see the fairer see!
However I had two customers on the edge of Usk but unfortunately Cheshire called me and also my Daughter 😮
Getting closer now Jeff I bet you are dreaming about driving her down this neck of the Canal.
As always take care and stay safe out there 😊
    John.

Hi John - thanks for the comment - as always!
Yes, Gladys looks super cool, although both of the boats are very dusty and in need of a wash at the moment.
Usk is indeed a very pretty town John. The River Usk goes through some great places, like Brecon, Talybont, Abergavenny, Usk, before finally reaching Newport - the train (from Hereford direction) passes over the river just before Newport station and there are some really big muddy banks to see at low tide.
Yes - Gladys's arrival is getting closer and closer - last update I had this week was that we're still on track, but I'm still asking everyone to please keep everything crossed!
I love the Mon & Brec canal - its my favourite, and I would love to cruise along it in Gladys John. But it'll be a few years before I've explored enough of the rest of the network and have her lifted out and brought down to Goytre / Brecon. Sadly the Mon & Brec isn't connected to the rest of the system - which is a huge disappointment to me. ☹️
Thanks for continuing to support the channel! 👍

Hi Jeff. What a beautiful place Talybont on Usk is. I've only ever been to Talybont beach near Barmouth which is maybe not quite as beautiful. The Mon & Brec is looking as picturesque as always. The electric lift bridge is an effective piece of engineering and great to look at when working. I wonder how far the traffic has to divert when the bridge is not operational, hopefully not too far. The Coot narrowboat that went through is a really nice looking boat. I especially liked the solar panel layout on the roof. I googled the Wilderness Beavers to see how small they are and as you said, they are small and quite cute too. Some great views surrounding the reservoir. It's a pity you cant go into the Valve Tower, It would be quite interest to see it in operation. Good to see you were not tempted to jump in for a swim. I imagine you enjoyed the ride back downhill. I cycled a mere 1.5 miles uphill last week to get on to The Worcester and Birmingham Canal for an hours cycle along the towpath. No being cycle fit the uphill ride nearly killed me 😂however the roll back downhill towards home was indeed welcome. Great pics of Gladys and Bonnie, we cant wait to see Gladys on the water. Another interesting and informative video as always Jeff and we look forward to the next. Take care Jeff 👍

Hi Dave! Yes, the Mon & Brec is simply beautiful.
The Coot is one of the Beacon Park hire-fleet. They do look very nice boats - I believe the company buys in the boat-shells and fits them out themselves at their location on the canal.
Id have loved to go in the tower - it would probably be a similar layout to the Foel Towers on the Elan Valley dams.
Oh yes, it was a fabulous descent back down to Talybont. I've been out filming today and experienced a similar long uphill and then steep drop back down. Also saw a much bigger lift bridge today!
Hey, I'm very glad to hear you've hit the Worcs and Birmingham! Well done! That's a great canal and I really want to take Gladys there 👍
Yes, both boats look great - although they were each very dusty and dirty - so once cleaned up, they will look a real treat! I'm hoping that Gladys's completion date won't slip - but at present, we do still seem to be on track for next week... I'll post an update if I hear otherwise! 🤞
