    My wife is from Nigeria. She is a Research student and writer, and knows her own Country's History as well as anyone else. She KNOWS that all the Tribes had always taken and sold slaves, centuries before they has even seen a white face...White man offered a better price for slaves, simple as that.

      Darcus Howe accused my friends Mum of racism as far back as early 80s.
      A brilliant white woman who blazed a trail within Labour for cross communities representation.
      She was supposedly racist as she campaigned for a white MP in a constituency made up of 30% non white.
      You couldn't make it up. She campaigned for a Labour MP to win. It was her job.

    We can take this out of context and make a massive issue of it as much as we like. The hammer comes down for any little comment made by whites in the public eye. Equal rights is truly a wonderful thing. Darcus Howe feels lost without the systematic subjugation of blacks in society, he no longer has a role to play, but tries his hardest still.

    Massive difference between the reaction to Diane Abbott's comment and Ken Livingston's. Ken has been suspended because just to mention the word Nazi in any relation to a debate on Israel is seen as Anti Semitic. How appropriate is it to mention 19th Century imperialism in relation to 21st Century race relations in the UK?

    • @pippipster7705
      @pippipster7705 8 років тому +3

      The cultural history of blacks and whites (and Jews) means that it is much more serious when the dominant group or non-group makes a racist or political remark.
      So a Jew saying - 'stop behaving like a Nazi' is far less of an issue than when a non-Jew says it. And a black man saying 'white fool' is less serious than the other way around.
      Thanks to history we are NOT all on a level playing field.
      This report and the reaction to Abbott (who is very smug and annoying) ignores this very important social historical and political context completely.
      That's why Ken had to go and Abbott doesn't.

    No doubt about it, the British Establishment likes to play divide and rule. This spat being an excellent case in point.

    • @JAMAICADOCK
      @JAMAICADOCK 9 років тому

      ***** It also was the policy in Ireland, the Miners Strike, Iraq, India, Uganda etc etc.
      Get them all to fight like rats in a sack, that way they destroy each other.
      The Tories recently played Divide and Rule with Labour and the Scottish National Party. I mean why did Cameron call that referendum? It wasn't Salmond who called it, he was basically backed into a corner by Cameron.
      But sure 'New' Labour will play the same game, given they are Red Tories.
      An ethnically diverse working-class isn't really anything to do with socialism (East Germany, Czechoslovakia were hardly great examples of Multi-Culturalism) However, the old Left despises racism, so it won't stand by and watch ethnic minorities come under fire from the likes of Farage and Nick Griffin.
      Rather, Lax or loose immigration controls is a Neo-Liberal standard - that straddles Liberal, Labour and the Tory Party. E.G. The noises Boris Johnson makes on immigration being good for London being little or no different to Tony Blair's position.
      Of course Labour and Conservative will say they're getting tough on immigration - but they never can turn words in action. Meaning they are totally incompetent or secretly they think immigration is great for growth.
      That's because they are all Neo Liberals who see immigration controls as just another barrier to free trade. The labour market being no different from any other market.
      From their Neo Liberal POV If immigrants are willing to work harder than the indigenous working-class then why restrict them taking jobs.
      You should see past mainstream politics and look at the economic theories informing Thatcher/ Blair/ Cameron etc.
      Check out Milton Friedman's ideas on immigration. The leading economist behind the free market orthodoxy that's held sway for the last 30 years - i.e. privatization, deregulation, free trade, cutting taxes etc.
      According to Friedman open-door immigration is great for productivity. With the caveat immigrants shouldn't be granted benefits. Basically Cameron is employing a watered down version of Friedman's laissez faire immigration policy at the moment.

    • @JAMAICADOCK
      @JAMAICADOCK 9 років тому

      ***** If you bone up on Neo-Liberalism and Liberalism more generally you'll find its hardly a secret. Its nothing to do with social engineering, it just comes down to free-market ideology. Liberals have an aversion to statism or Big Government as they call it - so open immigration flows naturally from that position.
      To conduct a truly strong anti-immigration policy for the 21st century, you'd have to pump billions into state coffers to pay border police, you'd have to crack down heavily on illegal employers; landlords. gang-masters, agencies etc. The state would expand far more than people realize - hence taxes increase to pay for big government. Or alternatively more aid would have to go to the developing world in order to improve their living conditions so they stop emigrating.
      Just coming out of the EU wouldn't solve the problem. They'd still find a way to get in; Moreover there's non EU immigration from Africa and the Arab World.
      So Tories (Neo-Liberals) New Labour (Liberals) UKIP ( Anti EU Neo-Liberals) are ideologically opposed to tight immigration controls on three main counts 1) restriction to free trade in Labour markets 2) enlargement of the state to police immigration 3) raising taxes to pay for border guards, civil servants etc.
      In many ways its like the Liberal attitude to drugs - they make a show of getting tough but in reality they're ideologically okay with the drugs trade. If they just went ahead and legalized drugs of course they'd lose votes - so they make this token gesture of a few big swoops on major drug barons. Quite pathetic really considering you and me both know where all the dealers live.
      As McMillan said - 'its important that things are seen to be done. Whether they get done is irrelevant'.

      Some would say being stopped and searched 10 times in a week is also a bad experience. This is what happens on a regular basis to black people in London.
      As for Stephen Lawrences family, they have been smeared by an organisation described by a judge as institutionally racist.

If you would like to know how Diane CAN be racist then that is simple, she can be racist by expressing prejudice towards, discriminating against or antagonising people on racial grounds. I never said that she did these things, that is open to discussion, I merely countered your argument that she was INCAPABLE of racism, which is your assertion which you have yet to substantiate.

    @DebbyInStKitts i think the problem is that terms like 'the black community' are usually followed by some sort of opinion, implying that all black people essentially share the same consciousnes, and are not individuals, its an odd kind of racism that isnt immediately racist.
    if some1 said 'the white community' id be like which one? if some1 said 'white community leader' id say who appointed them.
    im guessing this is why the woman in question didnt like the term.

    @SuperXenomorph "Darcus Home appears a bit confused and does not appear to realise that a black person can be called racist" - WRONG. Black people cannot be racist and the fact that you haven't studied racism extensively as a concept speaks volumes. Go and get educated before coming on youtube making statements that you cannot qualify.

    Yes, prejudice and racism are different, prejudice is to pre-judge. It is a blanket term. Racism can involve a kind of prejudice, that is to say a prejudice based upon race. If I pre-judge a gay person that is prejudice but not racism. If I pre-judge an Asian person then that prejudice and racism. You will also notice my statement does include antagonism and discrimination. For instance to assault someone based on race (Antagonism) or Idi Amin's treatment of Asians (discrimination).

    I didn't have difficulty with anything, but you clearly have difficulty when it comes to spelling. The phrase is "DICTIONARIES are your best best". That said, if you can give me a more elaborate definition, then I suggest you give me one. As for the NBPP being racially superior, that's complete nonsense. The NBPP are not racists, they are REACTIONARIES to white racism. You need to do a lot better than that my friend. I'm waiting...

    Then please, exercise some common sense. This is the first time that you made any reference to Socio-economic power so I don't think you can call it your original assertion. All you said before is that black people could not be racist, you never gave any reasoning. Now that you have I am disappointed, I've heard this same argument before and never considered it to have much merit. For me racism is a motive and power (whether economic, physical or whatever) is a means.

    Amaribling you obviously don't know your history! How could anglo saxons kill off English people when english are anglo saxon decendants. The word England derives from the word angleland and angleland was a part of England the angles occupied.

    She is a complete joke, but in the worst possible taste.....she brings nothing to politics but racism, but nobody dare say it. She is like a protected species.......come to think of it, the does have the look of a square-lipped rhino!!!!
    The problem with her views is that black "communities" invariably show their anger more visibly, but they generally harm their own "communities", by smashing the place up, then complaining there is nothing there for them!!
    As for the old black guy, I never really took notice of him when he was around....he was largely irrelevant, other than to stir up race hatred with his continual pessimism on relationships between whites and blacks.
    Today, (29/1/19), I heard a debate about the disproportionate amount of black youths in detention........there is, after all the talk and discourse....one answer - they commit more crime. Do not tell me about disadvantaged upbringing.....white kids go to the same schools and suffer poverty. No - it is a cultural thing. Nothing more, nothing less. Somebody please be brave enough to say it.

    That was not 48 hours ago as you claim. My memory is pretty good, but it only works with things which actually happen I'm afraid. Of course I was born stupid, I was a baby. I have however got more intelligent as time has progressed, this is perhaps not the same as your own personal experience. You claim that is what racism is. I disagree. Partly because your definition is far too narrow to matter even if it were true, party because consensus agrees with me but mostly because you are just wrong.

  • @EquusFerrarius

    I genuinely sorry you did not mention socio-economic power at the beginning of this debate, I was hoping for some more original bullshit rather than generic bullshit which was dismissed as a meaningful theory around the time that I was born. I have researched your position, at best it is a exercise in self-deception for racists who are not prepared to admit to being racists and so redefine racism as a specific action which they do not engage in. Goodbye.

    @BritishAltruist "To re-iterate, black people cannot be racist" I know why black people cannot be racist because I've studied the concept of racism extensively. As anyone (black or white) who has studied racism extensively will tell you, black people CANNOT be racist. Now it's for YOU to do YOUR research on this particular topic. Let me know your findings.... ignoranus (Yes, that's how I'm spelling it in your case!)

    A person of average intelligence would be unimpressed, but as you seemed to be having such difficulty with it yourself I can't really say whether or not you should be impressed, that's up to you. I can give you a more elaborate opinion on what I think racism is but dictionary's are you best bet for objective definitions. You don't make a lot of sense but I'm taking that as you want me to give you an example of black people who believe they are racially superior. The New Black Panther Party.

    @ezekielthemack Dude seriously, I myself have experienced more racism from Afro Caribbean people than from any other race - I'm classed as African Indian and find it very funny & shocking when I'm called a 'Paki' by your kind.. An example recently was we were in Nandos and waiting to be served at the counter, me and my friends (I have a diverse bunch and the majority of my close friends are from African or Afro Caribbean background) were just throwing some friendly banter at each other (Part1)

  • @ezekielthemack
    @ezekielthemack 12 років тому

    PART2 - What a pile nonsense you speak. Let me correct you: In your ORIGINAL assertion you gave the dictionary definition of racist, so it is for YOU to prove that how Diane can be racist, because in terms of the choronology of this discussion, that is what came first. So please tell me how you believe that Diane Abbott is a racist and I'll duly rebut you again by telling exactly why she cannot be racist. Stop moving the goal posts - it's not a good look.
