I personally just think MJ gets way more respect than he deserves. It’s been like 2 years since he lost and he’s had 2 fights against guys who aren’t even in the top 50. And even when he was champion he avoided a unification with Fulton until Inoue and all his money moved up
Common, mam, not you too... The only reason MJ did not get the Inoue fight is because he lost to Tapales. Why do we need to see Inoue fight MJ since he lost to a fighter that Inoue destroyed? Inoue should go up and clear 126.

@@BoxingWavebro if inoue moves up without fighting mj, they will say inoue ducked mj. Personally i wouldnt want to fight a guy who lost to someone i beat already
The plain simple fact is, MJ would have ducked Inoue if money wasn't this good. People don't realize that the cheque you earn fighting Inoue is "off the wall" compared to what they normally earn in these lower-weight division fights. That's why Inoue has become a unified superbantam champ after only 2 fights. There's no messing around when $$$ is good!!
I believe Doheny fight was, in part, a reward to Doheny. A big payday. Doheny was intended to be a "measuring stick" for a few prospects at Ohashi gym. He beat all prospects he was put up against and in turn gained good recognition with boxing fans in Japan. When Goodman couldn't make the fight, it was convenient alternate to bring in Doheny. My conspiracy idea with Doheny fight is...Inoue's team wanted Doheny to rehydrate as much as possible to give Inoue a "test" with someone close to featherweight.
Afer MJ was TOYED by Tapales, MJ only fought 2 NON-RANKED boxers, so he should have ATLEAST to fight one like FULTON or NERY or Rematch with Tapales b4 INOUE.
This is all false. First of all Tapalas didn’t “toy” with MJ. He won a close fight. Second, MJ beat a ranked fighter right after his loss to Tapalas. The WBA made it a title Eliminator fight because his opponent was RANKED #2! Do some research sir!
@@BoxingWave correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure I heard the WBA allowed MJ’s opponent to skip the line, and become #2 without earning it because Turki was trying to force Inoue to fight MJ in Saudi. Both of MJ’s previous 2 opponents are not ranked in the WBA anymore.
It's true Inoue fought Dehoney, but why don't MJ step up and ask for the fight with Inoue at the time than. MJ only COMPLANT after Sam duck Inoue twice.
If my memory serves me right, MJ title eliminator fight was a month before the Dohey fight, and as for Inoue's camp don't change dates for no body unless him or his opponents got injured during the build up to the fight, in this case stupid Goodman that cause all this circus. Now Eddy is going nuke calling Inoue with stupid accusation about Inoue ducking MJ, that's is just crazy.
The reason why Inoue chose Doheny in September is because Doheny was defeated vs. Japanese fighters, and he beat a couple of guys from Inoue's gym recently. Inoue wanted some payback.
I am a Japanese boxing fan. In an interview in Japan, Inoue himself said he would rather fight MJ. Just recently, Mr. Ohashi, the president of Inoue's gym, mentioned MJ's name along with Alan Picasso as potential opponents for 2025. In other words, Naoya Inoue's team in Japan has not shied away from a matchup with MJ. The promoters are to blame for this fight not happening.
Didn't Goodman pull out of the TJ Doheny and Kim fights? Weren't they both stand-ins? Inoue looks like he keeps scheduled fights. Seems to me MJ could have jumped in?
He didn’t want to risk losing to Fulton for only 120k but now wouldn’t mind getting KO’d by Inoue for 1.5 million? Well that would make sense, especially now that he lost the belts.
I have no idea why people are so against seeing the MJ fight. He is by far the most dangerous guy remaining at 122. Olympic medalist, former champ, big for the weight class, and huge puncher. Maybe Inoue dispatches him like everyone else but that's why fights need to be fought.
MJ lowkey piss me off cuz bruh, he ducks Fulton, Fulton stays at 122 waiting for a fight he never gets draining himself when he should be at 126, Inoue comes in and wins , top 5 performance of the decade, Fulton damaged goods. MJ fights tapales and drops all the belts, and then fights 2 tune ups and is expecting a inoue fight, i dont blame inoue for skipping over him
fight with Doheny was pretty much done before WBA ordered MJ, and per WBAs own terms Inoue has 18 months to til they order a mandatory. Thats why MJ was last in line. Fight should happen this year but truthfully MJ is a whiner and its hard to take his side; he lost the belts to Tapales, aint fought a real contender since and clearly avoided undisputed with Fulton, he waited around at 122 for years, lost his bargaining chips and making a fuss as though hes past due for his shot or the outstanding challenger at 122. Hes neither of those things in all truth and was always one of many, in the back of line.
I want to see the fight...but I just know nothing will change after inoue ko mj who only has 14 fights total...had mj beaten tapales, he would've been 12-0, and after inoue beats him, people will say he beat a nobody with only 12 fights
The only really tough fight for Inoue is Espinoza and Nakatani. Bam, MJ, Ball, Leo, and Figueroa are all like the Tapales fights. They will give Inoue problems, but Inoue will eventually KO them. Nakatani and Espinoza are kinda risky. Nakatani is big for 118 and really good with power. He should be a 126 or at least a big 122. Espinoza? Well, let's just say dude belongs at 147 up.
When you add all the stats up, MJ is as good as Marlon Tapales. Their fight was actually also razor close, and the right man won. Tapales is a great fighter. Arguably the toughest competition Inoue fought since Donaire. But Inoue is still far more powerful. Inoue is also far more powerful than MJ. It looks like a goose because it sure ain’t a duck.
Inoue could've fought MJ (and JRC) already if he had not lost the belt... Inoue team said Picasso, MJ, then moving up to face Nick in 2025 is their plan. So it'll happen this year. As you said only time Inoud would've faced MJ was whey he fought TJ instead to wait Goodman. I wouldn't say that one fight a duck. If it does not happen this year, I would say Inoue ducking MJ but not now.
TJ was like a substitute, in place of Goodman taking another fight. The main reason TJ was considered over MJ, TJ fought in Japan before and considered to have fans there. TJ defeated his opponents in Japan and Inoye wanted to revenge those losses. MJ has to wait his turn. His fans would have been disappointed, if he took that 10 day substitution. Wouldn't you want a build up for that big fight instead of 10 days notice. Inoye, like any other fighter, still needs time to study an opponent before a big fight. Let's keep this real. 😠
I think he knows his career is bigger than him, similarly to Canelo. They carry an entire country with every fight so the risk has to make sense when they fight. Politics aside inoue can vacate a belt like canelo did at any time he wants, but he'd be pressured to move up to 126 and I don't think he wants to do that until he gets too big for 122.
Inoue vs Bam will never happen lol Inoue vs Nakatani is more realistic to me and Nick Ball too. The Mj fight will happen this year for sure. For now Eddie Hearn is doing a good job marketing the fight.
I don't think he's avoiding him. That's just a rumor. I hate that people run with things based on what the media tells them without any proof. Inoue literally said in his post fight interview that he's willing to fight the top guys without notice, just like how he was preparing for the Sam goodman fight before he got injured in training camp.
I just don’t know why loser always speak louder I don’t care who Inoue fight as long as he’s in that fight People wanna watch Inoue fight sb Who ever the fk that sb is doesn’t have to be MJ Who the fk is MJ Who give a fk what MJ want Who give a fk what loser want😢
Good thought process throughout all of this. The only thing that sticks out to me, is that MJ lost to Tapales. I can't say it enough. Inoue beat Tapales, and MJ LOST TO TAPALES. I don't see how anyone could possibly say that Inoue is ducking someone that lost to someone that he already beat recently. It just comes across as whining. I think Inoue should fight Picasso, and then MJ. The reason I think it should be MJ over Nakatani is because of what Nakatani himself said. He wants 1-2 tune up fights moving up to 122 before even thinking about trying to take on the Monster. So the EARLIEST that I think we will see a Nakatani fight is mid 2026. Good content man, appreciate your views!
Very good points, sir. Would be great if you can dig into MJ’s side during the Tj Doheny fight. Although, you mentioned the WBA politics might have something to do with it. Could it have something to do with Herns demands for the fight? Tia
Peace to wave. I think Top Rank is more at fault than anything. The Doheny fight was questionable though, I still think Inoue will fight anyone. I don’t think he’s ducking. This seems more like a promotional issue.
Omg thank you for talking about the politics of boxing with the sanctioning body nonsense...people rarely talk about that when it comes to this whole situation and it's frustrating. Eddie Hearns is just doing his job as a promoter but it's still really annoying hearing him and MJ yap. I saw a JP article claim that the MJ match is planned as the Saudi fight after Picasso, though I can't confirm its validity. Hopefully that's true and that fight happens sooner than later!
Thanks for all your work. Sadly, the ONLY interesting fight for INOUE is NAKATANI. Unfortunately we all are looking up in weight and there isn't any good fit. MJ would be close bec of MJ's toughness but!!!! MJ doesn't have the true skills to really compete and I LOVE MJ
MJ just needs to wait. His opportunity will come. It was well known that after this past fight in Japan, Inoue will be returning stateside and fight in Las Vegas this spring 2025. Bob Arum wanted to show the American audience why the monster is who he is by making him fight against one of the remaining top fighters at 122 from the North American region. The only fight that make sense is Alan Picasso Romero since he's the only mandatory challenger outside of Sam Goodman and MJ. The monster is with Riyadh and it was announced by Inoue that he'll be fighting in Saudi Arabia this year. MJ and his promoter Eddie Hearns has a great relationship with Turki. It only make sense if the fight between MJ and Inoue manifest and happen in Saudi Arabia (which will be the fight after Inoue match in Las Vegas). MJ should get a tune up fight in the meantime, I hope against Ramon Cardenas (#2 in the WBA) and we'll see MJ and the monster at in Saudi Arabia this September 2025.
