  • Earthing, grounding, whatever you want to call it I had to dive into the science to see if it was legit because the health claims are wild. I also whipped out my voltmeter to test by body voltage while using a grounding mat.

I have just read through the comments and have 2 cents to throw everybody's way. When I first heard about earthing I was skeptical but interested. I have a stem background and have been employed as a physics instructor, have spent the last 20 years working as a technical troubleshooter. My hat goes off to the electrical engineers that have commented. Exceptional mathematical skills. Not sure of their depth of knowledge in cell bio/bio chem. Over the past 3 years I became further interested in biological systems due to my wife having been diagnosed with a neurological disorder.
My thoughts on this topic, tissue is semi-conductive. Different tissues, more or less so. When earthing, your skin comes in contact with the relatively negative potential of the earth. The electrons will be drawn into the body due to the body's relatively positive charge. This is not quite the same thing as building up a high negative surface voltage such as from friction. Though I imagine over time this static charge could be drawn into the body. I have read in sci studies that electron tunneling into positive holes (atoms with missing electrons in the outer shell) across proteins can typically occur in 10 to 20 angstrom hops. These hops range in speed from milli to nano seconds. Performing a little simple math it can be calculated ( roughly) that it will take about 2 minutes for electrons to travels an inch or so through the tissue (of course once into the blood stream they can be transferred at a different rate at the same time recharging depleted water soluble anti-oxidants eg.. vitamin c and uric acid). There are approx 12,700,000 hops per inch. Therefore, the process is not instantaneous, which goes along with how people report benefits (people talk about 20 to 30 minutes grounded to really start feeling the beneficial effects. The fact that the multimeter shows a lower voltage is only reading the skin surface, thus a much faster reading on the meter. The positive effect is not from having some current passing through your body. A little more like the positive plate of a capacitor being discharged by the addition of the electrons. Never completely recharged as the body is alive. After a varying length of time (factors might include body size/composition, resistivity of the varying tissues, the degree of electron deficit )ROS and NOS etc.. within tissues etc..), the body will come to a rough equilibrium. Remember electrons, atoms, molecules are not like little collections of 3-d marbles. Quantum effects in the body are real. An entirely new field of advanced research is now diligently being studied. Our bodies are truly chemo\bio electric in every sense of the term. I purchased a couple inexpensive earthing products and have indeed found positive effects from using. I suffer anxiety and insomnia and was "truly" surprised that the first time I laid down to sleep, I actually fell asleep - and slept the entire night. I am usually bi-phasic in my sleep patterns. I have been sleeping earthed with my wife now for 18 months and the positive effects we receive are not placebo - placebo effects tend to wear off over time, as placebo requires conscious thought to remain effective. I have read and listened to virtually every article on earthing both pro and against. I have found a lot of speculation and completely unsubstantiated effects. A high signal to noise ratio to use a fitting analogy. Going outside in your bare feet on a nice sunny day has even more positive effects, sunshine - think photo- biomodulation, different positive effects which arise from being exposed to specific wavelengths of light. From far infrared - to ultraviolet b, the body requires electromagnetic radiation for optimal performance. Circadian rhythm, vitamin d production, nitric oxide production and release into the cardiovascular system. , The increased release of nitric oxide from the cytochrome c oxidase molecules of the electron transport chain, which can improve mitochondrial function. I think, if you are completely healthy you probably will not experience any noticeable effects. It won't turn you into superman. If you are growing older, have a chronic condition, this would be one more complementary tool that can be applied. Believe me when I say I understand the lack of any real clinical science on this subject, or anything else concerning nutritional health. I can only report an anecdotal n=1 experiment. In my case, I really feel there has been positive benefit. P.S. I know there are a lot of Bart Kay haters on this channel, he can be quite combative and obnoxious, but he is educated and has a good understanding of physiology, of course you don't need to eat his diet, but there is knowledge to be gained both from friend and foe. I wish everybody the best on their journey to good health.

Bub Let me just say I'm even more intrigued about grounding after reading your comment than I was before reading it. I'm retired military and am generally a trust but verify kind of person (data wise). I have a non-physician medical background (radiology/ultrasonograhphy), which was not in line with any type of alternative medical treatment. Even though I don't have the same level of scientific intellect as you or as the video host, I absolutely can and do think for myself. I appreciate the depth of information you provided and do plan on ordering an earthing mat now. Might you recommend the one you and your wife have used and feel has helped you both? Also, we are living in our rv while building our home. Might you offer any thoughts on how to properly ground a mat while inside an rv, since the rv is elevated above ground except for the tires which are insulating of course. Thank you in advance. Prayers for the best health journey for you and your wife.

I had a bad case of sciatica last year. I heard that sciatica is caused, among other things, by too much inflammation and that earthing reduces inflammation. I walked around on my grass every morning for about 30 minutes and the sciatica miraculously went away in just a couple days. I then stopped earthing for several months and the sciatica re-appeared. I then went back to earthing every morning and the pain went away once again. If this isn't proof that earthing works, then I don't know what is.

The mainstream medical industry is always going to work against anything natural. Everything so unnatural with these people no wonder why so many people die in the hands of medical Care each year. Almost one of the leading causes of death currently. But one thing that scientifically proven is Dr Joe dispenza's work. I would recommend looking into him because they're now scientifically able to prove that your mind connected to feelings with imagination create your reality. So that means if you believe something will make you sick, then you create that reality for yourself and that's something gets you sick. If you believe you'll never get sick from something and your body wires itself right into the nervous system that you won't get sick. Basically your beliefs shape what you experience. The medical industry is so out of day and so messed up with a bunch of lies that it's bound to fall apart really soon. They use toxins and poisons and all sorts of nasty chemicals to try to help take away people's symptoms but they never work on healing the body and watching how nature heals so we can learn the heal. Thankfully Dr Joe dispenza it's proven everything that he's doing and so nobody can argue against it.

We think we are nourished but we are actually malnourished of micronutrients that's why when we catch viruses or flu, we all fare differently, the body needs micronutrients to do it's job and sea moss has all the nutrients the body needs, adding spirulina to seamoss turns it all into a true superfood powerhouse. I believe what's separated us from our ancestors is food. The ancient Mayans were cultivating spirulina which has everything from B12 to even protein

I have a history of high blood pressure and I was on as much as 40 miligrams of enalapril maleate for 25 years. I started grounding last spring as soon as the snow got off the ground, just by walking around my house a few times in the morning before I put my shoes and socks on. I read the liturature that said grounding would lower my blood pressure. I actually wanted to proove this wrong as I am just as cynical as everyone else but to my surprise, over time, it gradually went down to the point where I only need 5 miligrams of medication per day. Another thing I noticed is that I have been gaining weight due to eating alot but to my surprise, have not added any weight at all since I started grounding. In fact, I lost a few pounds despite eating alot of fatty and sugary foods! Over all, I feel better, have less fatigue and I am convinced grounding works but perhaps due to reasons the science community has yet to discover. It can't be placebo in my case. I had no previous justification for believing grounding would help me at all. As a long term electrical/electronic tech, I use grounding mats pretty much every day. They prevent high voltage static charge buildup on the human body from discharging into sensitive electronic devices which can cause either premature failure or even immediate failure of said device or components. Sure, I agree that nanoamps doesn't seem like much (some measuring equipment I work with measures 1000 times less than that, i.e. picoamps).
But I'm not actually sure that initial current flow matters that much. It's potential difference, the level of voltage above ground or earth and what is being measured, in this case a human being. If you remain at ground potential "grounded" then there will be no current flow. As you stated, there has to be some sort of movement and friction like clothes for example or even just a flow of electrically charged air to generate current flow. The other thing, as you rightly pointed out, is external electrical fields radiating from electrical AC within buildings as well as WiFi and radio communication devices like mobile phones, radio broadcast towers/masts etc will cause an electrical current to flow in anything that's connected to ground/earth. So really, nothing short of switching off all communication devices, electrical supplies and transmitters will stop said current flow.
Sorry to get in depth, but it is quite technical.
For reference (electrical engineers joke) I like to walk around the home and on soil #SaveSoil with bare feet. It has "potential" health benefits.

Was unfortunate the way that I ran across grounding being beneficial, but it is the truth. I was in college and doing some substances that are not at all beneficial for human health. After hours of ingesting this substance through the nose, the time frame in which I was ingesting the next dose would shrink. Starting at 45 minutes'ish going down to around 10-15 minutes'ish by the end of the evening. The feeling towards the end of the night is absolutely horrific, and when I say nothing would have the slightest impact on it, besides waiting the effects out a.k.a. time, I mean NOTHING would help in that exact moment. One night I was feeling particularly awful by the end of the night and was pacing around the house, time would not pass quickly enough. In my desperation to pace with more space I walked out my front door and into the front yard and happened to be barefoot. Within seconds my brain felt relief, like a pressure valve was released and air was whistling out, within seconds my neck relaxed, my shoulders dropped down next to my torso instead of being closer to my ears, my breath slowed, my heart stopped pounding, and what seemed to be left was a dull headache, a very uncomfortably dry set of nostrils, and the ability to witness the anxiety my body was experiencing instead of it being all consuming. Nothing about this was planned, nothing occurred to me that it was my bare feet in the grass, the fresh air, BUT, I attempted to do the same thing the next time I made the choice to travel down this path again, and was wearing shoes. Not even close to the amount of calm rushed over my body but in that moment I yearned to feel the grass on my feet again and took my socks and shoes off and what do you know, INSTANT impactful change in state of being. Placebo? How? Maybe placebo in the direction of nothing helping? Sure. Mother Nature being vital to the health of a human being all the way down to the subtle electrical signals sent from the earth into our bodies? Does that really sound that crazy? Did we not just learn recently that sunrises and sunsets are the anchor to circadian rhythm due to the light quality during those times? And has it not always just felt incredible to watch those sunsets, we didn't need to see the specifics to know that sunrises and sunsets were healthy before scientific proof came out there were HUUUUGE health benefits to them. There's so much we don't know, but intrinsically, if you sit with that thought long enough, does science need to prove everything to you? I've been experimenting on myself with grounding for over 8 years now. I have a long history with chronic illness (over 30 years) and also a serious anxiety disorder. During a particularly awful bout with all of it I began going out onto the grass during these attacks. Immediately I noticed that, even at my very worst with regard to anxiety, severe pain, and debilitating fatigue, going outside and getting skin-to-earth contact melts my anxiety away, my blood pressure decreases, my heart rate slows, my whole body calms down. In fact, it's rather addictive, the calm I get from contact with the earth. As often as possible, and especially if I end up in a flare, I lay on a cotton sheet with minimal light cotton clothing on and my symptoms calm down within about 10-15 minutes. If I do this daily, or most days, they go away and don't come back. If I neglect doing my therapeutic grounding, my body goes into serious painful and debilitating flares again.
So I bought a grounding mat for use indoors. Once when I had tossed my old grounding mat and had forgotten to get a new one, all of my symptoms come roaring back, loudly and painfully. When resuming my grounding, both indoors and outdoors, my pain, chronic inflammation, and nervous system dysfunction melt away. Immediately.
And that's all I need to know. (BTW, you tested the mat with socks on and you tested your voltage while grounding outside with socks on, too. Unless they were 100% cotton, they'll interfere with the process. Bare skin or natural materials between you and the earth only.)

I'm 61 and grew up in the south dirt poor until I was 12. We spent most of our time barefoot either because it was natural or because we didn't have shoes. All I know is we all wanted to catch the measles or mumps because it meant a few days out of school. No one wanted chicken pox because it itches a little but wasn't anything like today. The idea that kids died from these childhood infections was unheard of. I saw a doctor once because I sprained my wrist falling off a tree branch. I never saw a dentist until I was 13 and had perfect teeth with no cavities. We also never ate fast food or sweets. I personally know there's health benefits to connecting to the earth. I've never owned a grounding pad so I can't say if it's legit or BS.

Hey there, I have just read some comments here and decided to share my experience with grounding with the earth not with grounding mats. Since I was a kid I loved to go to some clean place in the mountain and take off my shoes and just play around with my parents. After many years I went to a mountain and remembered those moments and the feeling that I had then, so I decided take off my shoes and play with my dog. I clearly felt a difference after 20-30 minutes of being barefooted in comparison doing kinda the same things in the mountain but with shoes. From then I decided to research a lil bit more about benefits of barefooted in general and found grounding. I decided to make an experiment with myself for about 2 months: almost every day I went out and just sit on a bench with my foots grounded for 30 minutes. I can clearly say that every time after these 30 minutes I just felt more balanced and relaxed, so for me this thing works in some kind of way. No need to think why I didn't did the same just sitting on the same bench but with shoes, I did for 2-3 times but there was no difference and it was just like if I was just sitting when going out. Have a good life yall

I've never known stronger old people than gardeners who get their feet and hands right in the dirt.

There was actually a study done where people were sent outside for 20 minutes a day to put their hands in living soil and they showed a marked increase in the diversity of their gut microbiome, which plays a huge role in yourimmune system health and emotional and mental well being. SO, that being said, the ultimate tonic for health in this case would be gardening barefoot for 20-30 minutes a day.
I studied regenerative agriculture in college - I'm actually still finishing up my BA, but there was this lore floating around that when you touch plants in your garden somehow that communicates to them which nutrients you're deficient in and they accordingly grow an increased concentration of those nutrients and minerals. I can't remember if this was ever scientifically proven or not.
But if you've never heard of the Rhizophagy cycle in plant roots its essentially the same thing. A plant will sometimes eat soil microbes through openings in the ends of their roots. Most of the time these microorganisms are simply digested by the plant and their 'parts' are used to help build/maintain certain structures within the plant. Sometimes though a strange phenomenon occurs where the plant will digest the microbes shell, allow it to pass through the plant for some time, then spit it back out into the soil and THEN also spit out all the proteins and carbohydrates that microbe needs to reform it's protective shell into the soil next to it. That microbe, while in the plant, recognized which minerals the host plant was deficient in (magnesium, phosphorus, etc.) and then communicates that need to the rest of the soil microbial population somehow. In response the microbes then 'mine' for those nutrients and bring them to the plant. The plant in turn continues to convert solar energy into simple sugars and exude those simple sugars from its roots to maintain a healthy root microbial population.
The plant serves as a solar panel which produces the basis of all life in the soil underground - simple sugars. Due to the magical intelligent design of nature the microbes know they need the plant to stay alive to continue to survive and the plant knows it needs a happy root biome to continue to survive. They all help each other out. So it wouldn't surprise me if plants and humans had a similar kind of interaction like what I described above.
If anyone is interested in this whole Rhizophagy cycle John Kempf has a wonderful youtube video on the topic, info on rhizophagy cycle starts around the 9:40 mark - ua-cam.com/video/1puI1JwY22Y/v-deo.html.

I'm a power plant operator of 36 years. I retired, 4 years ago, due to extreme metabolic fatigue. I've been interested in grounding for a few years now but have always been skeptical. After retirment, I started learning about many of the body's metabolic pathways and basically did what none of my specialist could do. I diagnosed my fatigue to a Methylation problem. This made me stronger and healthier than ever. Right before I embarked on building my own DIY grounding mat, my old work basically begged me to return. April of 2022 I returned to the Control Room. I worked long hours in and around very high EMF. I never got to making my grounding pad and my health started to decline again. Afther 10 months, I had to reretire. Here I am again, refreshing my grounding knowledge. I just ordered supplies to make my own pad. I never got to the point where I was fully convinced by any proof positive science but I developed one possible theory. It's a theory that I came up with based on my knowledge of metabolism. There are many metabolic enzymes that use electrical energy to operate. MTHFR, DHFR and MTRR to name a few, use a metabolite know as NADPH as an electron donor, to act as the energy required to facilitate the "Reduction" of the substrate. Perhaps being charged interupts this seemingly delicate process. I know that I feel very good during thunder storms, which, in theory, creates a stronger schumann resonance locally.

So electrical engineer here (25m) with 4 years of education and 2 or so years of professional experience in distribution engineering (everything below a substation/transmission line).
The "AC negative" that you hooked up to around 9:47 is actually called the "neutral". The "AC positive" is either referred to as "phase" or "hot", mostly depending on if the discussion is between engineers or electricians, respectively.
The neutral that you connected your black probe to actually, meaning electrically, goes back to the transformer outside your house and probably up on a pole. It is required by US law to connect the neutral at the point of the transformer to a grounding device, such as a ground rod, straight down the pole right into the same ground you test around 11:17 .
    ___________________________________________
So, theoretically, the neutral will provide the same voltage difference between your body and itself as compared to the difference between your body and "earth".
    ___________________________________________
    Practically speaking however:
    1) the geological composition of the ground near the transformer ground rod might be different than the ground you tested in your front yard (e.g. there could be other bodies and different chemical compositions in the ground at different points: you might not be able to assume a uniform "resistivity" for your entire yard);
    2) parasitic capacitances and inductances (grouped _reactances_ ) are present in normal conductors themselves, meaning that any charge clusters or Eddy currents induced by local electromagnetic fields may in turn produce voltage rises compared to actual earth; in this scenario, the neutral you tested in your house specifically at that outlet might register at a different "absolute" voltage compared to the absolute voltage of the earth; this means that potentially every neutral of every outlet in your house might be slightly different in terms of absolute voltage, but these are miniscule effects and probably won't make a meaningful difference given the precision of the multimeter you used; and
    3) local weather patterns affecting the charge clusters/Eddy currents of the ground itself might also influence voltage difference readings, although I think the research in this area is either young in terms of development, or unbeknownst to me given I've only looked at a few IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) papers, not research papers, on the matter.

    • @SeeNickView
      @SeeNickView 2 роки тому +1

And for those dumbfounded by my use of the term "absolute" voltage, think back to high school math when you learned about integrals (I know, painful memories...).
In theory, an integral should be taken from negative infinity to positive infinity.
But "infinity" in the real world doesn't really mean much. Most of the time we'll take the integral to a pretty large number, say 1 million, and that'll be "good enough" for whatever you're calculating.
This is the same thing with voltage.
Absolute voltage is measured between here and infinity, wherever that is. Physicists define the voltage at infinity as "0", and everything not at infinity gets a voltage > 0.
However, absolute voltage is an ideal measurement because we don't really know _where_ infinity is. We don't know if the universe goes on infinitely or not, and so we can't find a place in the universe to call "true" 0. (Maybe we will someday, though, who knows!)
Contrast this with Absolute 0 Kelvin in terms of temperature, for example, where we can reason that absolute 0 exists, but we can't actually cool anything down to that point in reality. (Maybe we will someday though, who knows!)
So, given that absolute voltage and temperature are really just ideals, we can "ground" them in reality by defining "relative" voltage or temperature.
Sticking with voltage, relative voltage is a measurement where we just *define* one place on the planet, preferably near where we're working or living, as 0. It doesn't matter if a piece of land or a sidewalk is actually 0 absolute voltage because those objects are safe to us: we can walk on them, shoes or not, and not get electrocuted. The Earth is a good choice for this because it's a huge planet that we as humans can't really change all that much (excluding the small stuff we do on the crust). It has tons of metals, meaning tons of free floating electrons, and is generally "stable". That stability is traditionally why we've used the Earth as a relative 0 for voltage, although that's my thought and might not be born out in the literature.
So, getting back to my above comment, the definite "relative" 0 voltage for your house is the point in the ground where that ground rod goes in. Again, we could *define* some other place, but using that rod allows us to be consistent across every household.
And since all those stray things like parasitic reactance and weather patterns tend to be miniscule in effect, we can stretch our choice of relative 0 voltage out to the neutral in our outlets in our house.

    • @SeeNickView
      @SeeNickView 2 роки тому +1

The claim made by the grounding-gimmick industry that some AC parasitics are disturbing the neutral in your house isn't completely right.
So, first off, think of pressing a key on a piano. You hear the note, right? Actually, if you listen closely enough, you can hear other notes to, above the loud one. There can be one at an octave above the loud pitch you hear, or two octaves, etc. Not everybody can hear these, but they're there. Those are harmonics.
Harmonics also show up in electricity.
The electricity that comes to your house is called "single-phase" because there is 1 neutral/ground and 1 phase/hot.
The electricity that goes to, say, a steel plant is called "three-phase" because there is 1 neutral/ground and 3 phase/hots.
In 3-phase, industrial systems, depending on the loads, harmonics can show up in a pretty big way. Those harmonics flow through the neutral, and may compromise our definition of relative 0 using the neutral.
But back at home in a single-phase system, the things that produce those harmonics, like computers or adjustable lights, don't do so in large amounts that are noticeable. We have laws that regulate how much of those harmonics are generated, and so while they might be there, they're also quite small and may affect the neutral relative voltage minutely.
It's really another case of actors looking to profit by generalizing a truth only meaningful under certain conditions to all conditions.

I made my own grounding mat for my bed. I bought some aluminum screen, and a spool of 16 gauge wire. I stripped one end of the wire and soldered it to multiple points on the screen, then I made some fabric borders for the edges for comfort, and sewed them to the screen.
I then fed the wire out of the window and down to the ground where I attached the other end to a long nail that I sunk into the ground. The first night that I used it, I slept so deeply that I slept past my normal weekend wakeup time. I also felt like I had just gotten over a cold.
The following nights, I haven't experienced the same things as the first night, but my knee pain has diminished a little bit, as well as the foot pain that I was having.
I have only used it for a week, and I don't have miraculous news for anybody, but my understanding is that the effects of earthing are very gradual, and your body heals over time.
That makes sense, though, because illness isn't something that just happens, it is a result of constant deficiencies, and other long term lifestyle decisions that build up those illnesses over time.
Just like losing weight, it takes a long time to put it on, and it takes a long time to take it off. Whatever illness that is a result of accumulative personal neglect, will need accumulated personal healing.
I have to say, if I didn't feel that big change on the first night, I probably would have been very skeptical, but now I have some optimism regarding this, so let's see how things are this time next year.

I cant recommend enough the book "The Body Electric" by Robert O Becker M.D. - easily the most mind blowing book i have ever read. Electrictys'? roll in biology was denied for centruries because we lacked the instruments to measure such small currents. Im guessing that included nano amps. For example the wound healing claim: your body uses electromagnetism to properly orientate every cell in your body. Like when a salamander loses its right hand, what keeps it from growing back a left hand or a foot by mistake? Well one by one each cell is put into place according to basically an electromagnetic grid in relation to the rest of the body. Even what types of cells are formed from the embryonic cells during regeneration are influcened by this field. And yes they could indeed speed up regeneration (obviously humans can't regrow whole limbs) by incuding currents into the salamaders body. They were even able to get frogs and rats who don't normally regenerate whole limbs to at least regrow partial limbs.
Point being there is way more on this topic out than you'll probably find on any youtube video. Much of it "supressed" or at least ingored (because its cheap!!!). Get off youtube and go read a book.

I was convinced grounding was scientifically proven to help with certain conditions, but you do bring up good points which can't be denied about lack of a control group and placebo effect. I was always convinced from first hand experience with bare feet in the summer Earthing had a profoundly positive impact on my mental state. I attributed this to being analogous to something like the Lenard effect in nature, lightning striking the ground or generating negative air ions which also seem to influence physiology
I probably would never buy earthing products that you plug into a wall (I've heard negative experiences of some people with them), but my bare feet experiences have me convinced there's something more to Earthing than it being "all in our heads". If it is a placebo effect I experienced, then it's an incredibly powerful one. Anyways, thanks for the video Mic. Good rundown

Could be as simple as another ground rod, or a matrix of ground rods, or people could dig up their topsoil in the front/back yard and install a ground mesh/loop.
I'd be interested in the code implications of doing that however, as fault pathways are clearly defined according to the specific layouts given in the NFPA National Electrical Code. I definitely feel slightly freaked out that the electrical devices around us are changing the voltage of our bodies. I think it's more rational to come at this from a standpoint of proving that that's safe, vs. proving that grounding is effective in treating medical conditions. I think it's probably safe to assume that our bodies should be regarded as sensitive electrical devices. Especially considering that our ancestors had zero exposure to strong electromagnetic fields from artificial sources up until very, very recently.

I tried earthing myself with a homemade earth strap. I found immediate relaxation. (this may be placebo effect). I am also radio electronics trained. I would love a proper study That said, my theory on how this could work is as follows. A study found that the electrical propagation through nerves is about 35 m per second. 50 or 60 Hz would create a standing wave at this propagation rate at about 1.2 metres. The average length of the adult vagus nerve is about a standing wave. With 240 Volts AC generates a peak to peak voltage of 480 v. With an electrical field of several hundred volts building and collapsing 60 times a second in the average house it could generate within the body micro currents within the most electrically conductive parts (nerves). This could upset the vagus nerve and raise cortisol etc. More research needed.

I've done earthing in the past after I broke my leg, and swear it helped a bunch with pain and sped healing, which of course is subjective, but my x-rays did impress my Dr. Whatever, the RESULT was I clearly felt better afterwards! Free, non invasive, no side effects! Whether it was the earthing, the sunshine, the communing with nature, or any/all of the above, I only see an upside! At this very second, my little brain is firing off a bevy of miniscule electro-chemical impulses that allow me to have these human thoughts, so why couldn't equally miniscule currents play a role in health and well being, ya know? Why did you put the voltmeter on AC? The ground in your wall-socket is at a constant zero DC voltage, only the voltage-pin has an AC sine-wave voltage on it.
And there is no AC voltage supplied to your body anywhere that you could be measuring when touching the red pin? The whole point that these "grounding mat" people make (I don't think they work btw.) is that they ground and neutralize an electroSTATIC charge buildup on the body - static implying DC/constant voltages involved only.

This is good info and bad information. First, I've decided to try purchasing a mat as I didn't even know they existed. I started grounding barefoot outside. I purchased from supposedly the original creators of the product and the instructions stated that it's more effective to have skin contact. It went on to say you can have on one layer, but their studies show that the grounding isn't has effective. One a couple of instances in your example, you had on clothing and I"m thinking so did the others you had try it....and still noticed a decrease in voltage. What's the impact over time though, compared to minimal impacts in seconds, minutes, hours? There's a bigger picture here in my opinion. Much of your video is focusing on how did they reach the results and who participated being suspect, but that becomes an opinion similar to their claims as you presented them. We all know that foods, plants, etc that grow in nature on Earth has a tremendous amount of benefit to the human body, it seems "natural" if not common sense that humans having consistent contact with the Earth, would benefit us as well in some way. I also believe that now there are multiple variations of this product and growing interest, it causes sellers to make certain claims. Perhaps researching the origin of this realization and their data?

I sleep grounded every night and I can even feel the exchange of electrons in my body so much so that when I don’t feel it, I’ll look to see if I forgot to plug in the cord and 100% of the time I’ve forgotten except for the one time I was using copper fabric which I made a mat out of and the copper lost it’s conductivity due to too much moisture exposure from my body- my cord was plugged in but I wasn’t feeling it and tested the mat and it was not conductive
I would get 6hr migraines once a week after doing 3 hrs of lawn work in the Sun .. drinking plenty of water with electrolytes did not help keep them away.
Once I learnt about grounding i tried it when the headache came and within 5 minutes the headache went away. I stayed 20 minutes on the mat and got hungry so I went to make something to eat and within 5 min after being off the mat.. the headache came back. It took about 2.5 hrs on the mat before I could get off of it and my headache not return. There is definitely something legitimate with grounding and stopping pain. I made my dad and mom mats and the neuropathy in his legs from diabetes went away .. my mom has pain from varicose veins that disappears when she’s on her mat.
For me it 100% reduces any stress in my body as soon as I start grounding. I discovered it when looking for a possible solution to long COViD in 2020. I was skeptical at first but it worked within one day of grounding all night (ran copper wire to the ground outside to a conductive mat)… For whatever reason it caused me to sweat all night but I woke up the next day feeling better than I had ever felt in my life!
I have a washable conductive sheet that I bought online to use on top of my copper one now (using one grounding cords connecting to each sheet in the grounding outlet) - But the way the washable sheet was made with the snap for the cord it came with was manufactured in a way that the snap doesn’t touch the conductive sheet so I have to do some sewing around the snap with conductive thread before I can use the cord it came with. So, it’s true that some products you get out there may not work and it’s important to test them to know they are working when grounding the first time before you make any judgement about grounding .. it could just be the product you are using that doesn’t work.

Our bodies normally run on about 1.5 volts. My dad as an electrical engineer got 15 thousand + volts of electricity up his arm on three separate occasions (he was a safety third type person). What he always said to me was,"the voltage isn't as important as the amps. Amps are the driving force of the electrical current and it only takes half an amp to kill you."
Grounding can both save your life or take it. Now, these are extreme examples. Helicopter operated high tension wire repair men hook themselves up to the very wires they are repairing. They then have huge amounts of electrical voltage flowing freely through them and they're fine. (Like when birds sit on a power line) if they were to touch a grounded pole or get grounded in some other way things wouldn't be going well for them.
I used to live by a fireworks factory (hand packed) that was the safest in the USA till they had big accidents four years in a row. One of those was of a worker who didn't touch the grounding plate before entering the powder room.
The point I guess I'm making is. I can see how micro amounts can be both beneficial or harmful. As small amounts of many things can be the deference between medicine or poison.
Although, I've been struck by lightning twice and survived so I'm not sure if I'm the best example for all of this

He did not really understand it, there is a difference in plugging yourself into the safety ground, that is directly connected to every electrical appliance you have. And connecting yourself to the ground. Safety ground wire has a current & voltage that can be measured.
Also, when you are connected to the ground you become an antenna for the electric field of every device you have. This also can be measured, when you are near your monitor for example, you now conduct the electric field it produces.
There is a definitive risk involved in plugging yourself into the safety ground, especially if you have heart conditions.

For the record, anecdotal evidence means people who didn’t get paid to do anything testifying about what happened to them. So, it’s basically like circumstantial evidence in court - like eyewitness testimony, for example, which is the vast majority of evidence in criminology. It’s more reliable than people realize.
And if the people who are doing studies are lying about fat, cholesterol, and more, their studies are probably even less reliable, because they have already established by their behavior that they will remove evidence (like 9 of 16 countries who are high fat consumers who had low instances of obesity and heart disease) that doesn’t fit their hypothesis…

As an engineer I watched a couple of videos about this topic. They say the problem is the electrosmog from all the electric devices. Ok that is kinda realistic, but on the other hand they are saying the the earth has extra electrons, and that can heal you. So you should ground. Do you see the problem? So now do we need extra electrons or not? When you ground you lose some from your skin, so your potential lowered, you already prooved that with the multimeter. Btw I walk barefoot when I can, and in lot of cases my colleagues get shocks from static discharge when they touch some equipment, and I am not. But except that no shocking experience I do not really feel any difference.

What really connected the dots with grounding for me was really learning about Gerald Pollack's research into a 4th phase of water. It's still considered "heretical" on wikipedia but honestly it's a paradigm shift that needs to be seriously considered. This idea that water can exist in a state between solid and liquid and has certain electro-magnetic properties, and the water in our cells, in our blood has this property.
A possible explanation for why grounding can help with blood pressure/viscosity is that the heart is actually less of a "pump" than we think, like the idea is that the force required to push blood cells one at a time through the capillaries is too great when you do the math considering the heart as just a mechanical force pushing the blood in one direction, and actually it's the electro-magnetic forces of this 4th phase water in your veins and arteries helping to push the blood cells through. Each blood cell has it's own little magnetic field (isn't it cool how they're shaped like a little torus???) that interacts with the charge of the 4th phase water along the walls of the veins and arteries and they can just slide through, even one at a time as they squeeze through the capillaries. Think of it like a maglev train, those things just float on a layer of electro-magnetism on rails, your blood cells slide through a tube surrounded by it. But hey guess what, that 4th phase water isn't free and you can improve the quality of it by eating healthy natural foods that contain it, and improving the charge of it by connecting yourself electrically to the giant electro-magnetic ball that we're all dependent on and descendent from.
I started using grounding mats in my home recently and heck just stopped wearing shoes anytime I'm outside and yeah it's another anecdote but I absolutely feel the difference. I'm lucky enough to have a creak on my property too and holy cow just spending time touching that water... ah sorry for rambling but it's just something you find out about and want to tell the world :)

Sometimes when I start my hands are numb and stiff and by the time I’m done, my voice is very tiredtoday and yesterday I did for about a half hour each day. When I went to my gig, my hands felt like the hands of a 20 year-old and I could sing for two hours straight any issues whatsoever, I felt like I had a different body, so I personally will be continuing doing this. I don’t care what anyone says. The proof is in the pudding.
