Nothing can get you more in the mood for a season than any of Terry Cashman's songs about baseball. Esp. if you can find the one about your favorite team.
5 dislikes are from Yankee fans. The REDS were the first baseball team ever..... and the 75 and 76 teams are a legend and can compare to ANY baseball team that ever existed. That's when baseball was baseball.
Well, it is 2020, no Opening Day, don't know when the season will start...Listening to this song brings tears to my eyes...damn I miss Opening Day and my beloved Cincinnati Reds...
Marc...I am a Cincy fan..and i love this version of this song....Just know that your mom is here with the Reds rooting them on just like she has always did....I wish you the best...Go Red Legs!!!
I am sorry she is sick or passed away. I lost my mom 9 years ago. I know how it feels. She is in heaven with the former REDS players that have passed on.
I was today years old when I found out that the Cardinals version ISN'T THE ONLY ONE?!?! low-key kind of pissed Dont even care about baseball that much, but Whitey Herzog died and I remembered this song. Got a copy on a 7" record from back then.... Is there one for every team??? wtf Thought it was a St.Louis thing only
Yes Terry Cashman recorded one for every team. They were all based on his recording honoring the New York centerfielders of the 1950s, Wiilie, Mickey and the Duke-Willie Mays of the New York Giants, Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees, and Duke Snider of the Brooklyn Dodgers
They must of updated it for 1983 I still remember "This is the season of Hurdle and Driessen so lets play ball" before the 1982 season. They proceeded to lose 101 games in the season of Hurdle and Driessen.
1982 was the first version, then he recorded the 83 version later. There is also a 96 version that I have on an MP3 if I can find it. Not sure if he did any other seasons
Not sure if there is an album. Terry Cashman did an original version of this song called Talkin Baseball "Willie, Mickey and the Duke." Then did a version for each team, and a version for the Homer At the Bat episode of the Simpsons.
I remember when this first came out, I played it for my dad. He loved it. he passed in 84. So when ever I hear it, I have to think about him.
Johnny Vander Meer! Our home town hero with much pride from Midland Park NJ!!!

@THAT80SGUY There are at least 3 that I know of: 1982, 1983, and 1996, and maybe one more from after Pete returned to manage the Reds
AND THIS ONE BELONGS TO THE REDS!!!
nice way to give props to the only catcher to win the batting title. Bubbles Hargrave the catcher people forget about.
No mention of Joe Nuxhall?
Big red machine the game’s first team
how many versions are they??????
Yor lorenzana how many teams were there in the early 80s. I think he did one for every team.
Album, please?
Homer at the bat!
Well Mr. Burns had done it. The Power Plant had won it...
What album did this song come off of?
Not sure if there is an album. Terry Cashman did an original version of this song called Talkin Baseball "Willie, Mickey and the Duke." Then did a version for each team, and a version for the Homer At the Bat episode of the Simpsons.

Kluszewski's mighty muscles

1983 was the worst year in Reds history too.
Actually 1982 was the worst season ever for the Reds
Well Mr. Burns had done it, The power plant had won it. With Roger Clemens clucking all the while. Sorry, couldn't resist.
