My 10 year old son made me a wood and copper antenna by watching you tube videos. It worked great! He learned more on You Tube than he did in school lol.
I followed his advice on which outdoor antenna to buy and it turned out great for me. After a hurricane NBC would not come in anymore and the other broadcast stations, would, every once in a while, have poor quality. I talked to the tech department of NBC and they said their equipment was functioning fine so it must be the antenna. I moved where it was pointing and it slightly improved the signal but still problems. Antenna Man recommended a Winegard preamp, so I bought one. After I hooked it up, the signal on all stations was about 25% better and all my problems were solved. I am pleased with his service. Looks like he knows what he is talking about.

Back in the analog broadcast era, it was easier to get viewable if not great picture and sound using a "good enough" antenna. This was useful in areas where TV broadcast towers are in different directions. You might get some geometric distortion, snow or fading. With digital ATSC-1 broadcasting, antenna selection and placement is far more critical. Less-than-optimum reception is subject to a "digital cliff" effect, with a narrow range of pixillation followed by no signal. Now, in some areas there's also the co-channel interference caused by the FCC signal repack. Thanks so much for your excellent work on the topic of television antennas!
Man I think you are in to deep. Just buy a cheap square antenna from the home depot like I did. With Tax about 20 bills. You can watch metv, bounce, laff, & local channels all very good quality. Right now I am watching "the Adventures of Superman" on Heros channel. at 480i
I 100% agree, in analog time, it had ghosts or noise very often, but it was watchable, now with DVB-T/DVB-T2, when you have little worse signal, it just doesn't work at all, there are only 2 states - it works or it doesn't work. I think today digital TV standards still need some development, there should be at least some variable bitrate or resolution, like it is on youtube, when you have worse connection for some time, it just jumps to lower resolution which is better than now picture at all. Digital TV should work like that too, I don't understand why this is not in today DVB-T2 standard, I would say it works even worse than older DVB-T1 which could use 16 MHz modulation and wider frequency range. When we switched to DVB-2 cca 3 years ago, some people completely lost their signal and other problem are one frequency multiplexes with same frequency in half of country, you need very good directional antenna or you are losing signal all the time for like few seconds because of echo and pre-echo. I think DVB-T2 standard is like blu-ray, it's baby borned dead. Many peolpe I know just screw that and switched to IPTV or satelitte or to cable TV. Modern terestrial broadcasting should be spread in same way like mobile data - no giantic antennas. With today unlimited data mobile tarifs, many people have IPTV even in their summer cabin and it works better than terrestrial TV. Also, what I hate about switching to DVB-T2 is that they used new capacity for more nonsense channels instead of better picture quality for standard channels. Here in Czech Republic, we have in full HD only our public TV, commercial TVs screw that, instead of better picture, they added 10 channels where they play 20 years old TV shows like SuperStar, X-Factor and such shits, I want full HD, not watching such shits. OMG, I want full HD, not watch US wife swap or some moron who trains dogs, that's ridiculous. :-D Also, those new channels have so ugly and tasteless graphics, they just copy what was popular in USA like 20 years ago. :-) Only good thing about DVB-T2 is that there will be paid channels in the air, but there is still only one multiplex in testing mode from Prague, that can't be danger for satelitte or cable TV.
I purchased a 360 degree omni directional antenna from radio shack 13 years ago and it works awesome. I am in Lake Mills WI which is 35-40 miles from Madison and 50-60 Miles from Milwaukee. I get all stations from both cities.
I built my own bowtie antenna for less than $5 of parts (copper wire, piece of wood, screws). I gave that one to my parents who live about 30 miles out of town. I then made a bowtie antenna using copper foil and laminating sheets. It's the same dimensions as the antenna with copper wire and wood support, but hides nicely behind the TV. Fortunately, I'm in a strong market area and it works great! Best antenna? The cheapest one that gets you the channels you want. ;)
I live in a rural location with lots of hills (foothills of NC) and recently purchased the Televes DAT Series BOSS and happily I receive channels as far as 70 miles with some getting up to 75 percent signal strength. My goal was to receive all 3 major networks for the upcoming college and pro football season and achieved success with this antenna. Your recommendations were a reason I went with the BOSS.
When I tried to explain to people there are no HD or digital antennas they look at me like I'm crazy so I tell them to go watch your Channel and decide for themselves
When I saw the title for this video I thought that you had done sold out. I was wrong. You are honest. I believe what you say and I have used your recommendations today to buy my antenae and equipment. God bless.
I don't know if mine is the top of the line indoor antenna but you have recommended this antenna. It is the Clearstream 2Max antenna. I didn't want to fuss with mounting an antenna on the roof and try to run a cable into the house. I use this indoor antenna pointing out my patio window. I also bought an amplifier for a little stronger signal. I get 60 channels in the Chicago area with this antenna. Weather does play a factor in picking up all the channels and if there is allot of wind, raining, or it is snowing, a few weaker channels will drop out. Low signal channels seem to pick up better in cold weather. With all that said, I really like this antenna.
I live in Las Vegas and, I used the Winegard Platinum Series HD7694P didn't do anything but take my direct tv dish off of its mast and, replace it with that antenna on the same mast and coax cable. Works AWESOME. as an edit, my co-worker did that same, and other than an issue he had with a specific brand tv... he has a similarly easy experience.
@@pblo702 tbh i get 85 channels... of which maybe 10 to 12 are useful to me... i am checking for you right now...yes, its 10:05 pm im watching the honeymooners on 21.2 looks just fine, well for black and white at the same time im watching I think Star trek DS9 on 21.1. my antenna is pointed twards black moutain on the outside of my home and, its not even elevated maybe 10 feet off the ground, im in summerlin if that helps. the antenna is not large, in fact quite compact. is an easy replacement for a direct tv or dish system. kinda glad you brought this to my attention, now im watching Get Smart... i love Get Smart. its 10:30pm
I can tell you the best indoor antenna , Will bring you in all the sub channels that the cable company doesn't want you to have does UHF and VHF , that's freestanding and you don't have to move it around in your window .. It's the Phillips with telescoping little antennas , it doesn't come with a signal booster but you can buy one of those separate that you can hook up in the back of your TV to boost the signal up And that Phillips antenna in Canada cost me $17 , says right on the box for Gen 3 TVs , If you have an old plastic flat antenna that comes with a signal booster use that for the Phillips
I actually found a double bow tie antenna that is probably at least 50 years old. It had the two terminals and someone screwed it to an RF adapter. Anyway, I had one of these satellite dish looking antennas from Radio Shack with an amplifier attached to it. What I did was traced the cable wires in my house, took the path that was feeding the comcast internet box and connected the bowtie antenna to the radio shack antenna amplifier. Then put that line from the basement into the input of the RF amplifier that was down there and the other wire coming to one of the outputs that feeds the living room and one bedroom upstairs. I was able to pick up about 58 total off the air channels (10 plus their subchannels). There are stations that I was not supposed to be able to pick up that come in great. The antenna is actually inside a bedroom on top of a rack on the west wall of the house with no windows. We got rid of Cable on Monday and it's now great. Thank you.
I could not get one of the local channels that was very close and there were two other transmitters on the same location that I had no problem with. Turns out that the problem was noise being induced into the down lead coax from my interrnet providers cable. Moved the down lead a few feet and that resolved the problem
Antenna Man is absolutely correct in his analysis of pros and cons of antennas. I have been educating myself for years about antennas. It kills me to see and hear these advertisers out there claiming this and that and all the bull. I cut the cord 12 years ago. Comcast insisted that I needed them to get local TV and my roof antenna was not "HD." I laughed at the lie. My roof antenna was installed in 1966. Good old fashioned antenna gives me 100 channels and Comcast still tries to bug me to get the local service as they claim it is much superior....all lies. My advice, if you happen to have an old antenna from the old days still on your roof, plug it in. I guarantee you will be wonderfully surprised in what you get for channels and reception (if you are within 30 miles of a city or stations.
Thanks. I just installed the Televes Dat boss 149483 (outside ont the roof, dont listen to your wife). That thing kicks ass and i havent even adjusted it yet since it was raining and roof was getting slippery.
Thank you and teneman I've been watching your videos for a long time and I decided to get myself a outdoor antenna based on your information and yes it does a big difference thank you very much
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS SOMETHING. I BELEIVE THE BEST TV ANTENNA IS AT LEAST A 15 ELEMENT YAGI ON A ROOF MAST WITH A ROTOR. I STILL HAVE MY 35 YEAR OLD 25 ELEMENT ANTENNA AND GET 147 CLEAR CHANNELS IN SFO AREA OF WHICH 14 HAVE PROGRAMING THAT IS INTERESTING FOR ME.
I also have the Clear Stream (the one with the 2 black circles) and have in the attic. It does a pretty decent job for what I Think I can get. Your advice was a Great help for me. Thanks.
Hi it has been a while. The antenna you helped me set up has been working great until they had a big fire on the mountain where the broadcast towers were. So all Air channels went down. 3 main ones anyway. No big deal, but I was trying to trouble shoot the problem by useing my Tyler portable Tv. I got at your suggestion, to see if I could pick up any signals. When I first got the anntena and the Tyler I had good signals on all 3 major channels. Now 2 of the three are back on and will work through the roof antenna to my Tv. But the Tyler now for some reason picks up no signal at all for air TV. I get tons of radio channels, but no air signal. I tried the scan mode, but it just says no signal. So thought I would ask the expert. See if I am doing something wrong. First time I hooked the Tyler up and put the little antenna on it, started picking up channes inside of my house, used it to get a good direction for the big antenna. Anyway. Thanks, Randy in Silver Springs, Nevada....
I still have an older TV that I've been using since the last electrical storm i had in Lawrence county... apparently a lot of people bought TVs that morning because by the time I got to Walmart they didn't have much in stock that was listed in stock just an hour earlier and the clerk said there had been a lot of tv sales that morning. And they did not have any Smart TVs that day. If you live in a rural area they don't deliver that day..or in a lot of cases even the day after that. So I still have that and it's the only thing plugged into an outside antenna. It's also used for the Onn Blu Ray... which for $30 less is far better than the Sony and Phillips i had before. I remember when those two sold products that lasted decades. +I use an A/B switch to quickly disconnect the antenna source.
I wish you would review the Zapper Box A1 antenna designed for ATSC 3.0 that came out in May 2023. I ordered it a couple days ago because in a previous video you said the maker/designer (televos) had good build quality, but would still be interested in hearing your opinion. I previously bought the Zapper Box ATSC 3.0 tuner you reviewed and it did make a decent improvement in reception. I’m anxious to see how the new antenna works out because I’m using it to replace a 20-year old amplified RCA indoor antenna that requires a lot of manual adjustments to pull in the main stations in my area (42 miles southwest of the transmitters all located together in Raleigh NC). I live in a heavily wooded area with marginal reception and should be able to detect a noticeable improvement in reception if this antenna is actually better than what I’ve been using.
That's Cool.. Yet Learn what creates antenna gain. What aides and or skills it... Is Also a Strong part of the Equation. Not just buying a supposed good antenna
Me too!!! I love everyone of his videos and ive learned a few things that have helped...if i could i would fly him out here to figure out what will work!!! Love this guy!!
could you please point out which antenna is best in general? I feel like I've seen all the videos as well (and even followed the instructions to verify signals in my exact area) but still fail to decide with all the extra "ground" rules and such
Outside antenna is the best but watch out for storms a lightning arestor is a must My granparents had a wineguard antenna and a 39 foot tower VHF uhf fm 1970 era . It lasted for years till a ice storm destroyed it fm was great .
I have an antenna in the attic. On cloudless days I have trouble with channel 2 and channel 6. On overcast days I get all the channels fine. I sort of live over a hill from the broadcasting towers may 15 miles away. Would raising my antenna help? Thanks.
Even if one does not cut the cord, back up the cord. Cable goes down. When cable goes down during an emergency (black out, storm, flooding) that is when a TV and Radio are a life saver.
almost every time I watch the Antenna Mans vids he always makes the statement about there's no such thing as an "HD antenna or digital antenna". He is absolutely correct on this point. digital anything cannot get from point A to point B without an analog frequency. the digital signal cannot move itself it has to have something that can transport it and that is an analog frequency. THAT is what an antenna is designed to receive, the equipment (in this case a TV) on the other end of the antenna is what reads the digital signal delivered by the antenna. It is the same for all digital media including fiber (yes, light is an analog frequency), coax, twisted pair. all are designed to deliver the analog frequency that is carrying the digital signal.
I noticed the old style antenna wire in my house but no antenna on the roof at the top of the chimney I'm guessing somebody snipped it off up there a long time ago. I don't want to climb up there very dangerous I do have an old satellite dish on my garage that's pretty high can I take the dish off of the post mount air antenna there and use the same coax cable ? I just have to find where the cable comes into my house it must be somewhere inside. it goes to my garage and then behind the wall.
If you have a good rooftop UHF/VHF antenna with a strong UHF section that worked well for your analog reception it will work fine now as well. Just keep it in service.
I don’t know if I need a new antenna or if I have a bad connection in my wire or the station itself , we’re do I start my existing antenna is 12 years old , my tv keeps telling me no signal or a week ☝️ one, I have the antenna in my attic.
I got the HD Clear Vision (AS SEEN ON TV) on clearance from Burlington for $1.49 down from $9.99 and it works fine for my location mounted to my window facing directly south in North Central Connecticut. Very cheap quality but works due to very little interference. Channel scan comes up with 48 channels with a few repeats and only two channels coming in poorly (ION 26.1-6 & 35)
Our issue is we have two main channels in one direction, then the third is like 180 degrees from that (this one the closest and least obstructions). Not sure what antenna we need. I can get the two no problem, but can not get the third. We've even put this antenna on the roof and turned it in all different directions. They are all less than 50 miles and our antenna has a 70+ mile range. Even bought a indoor outdoor 150 mile antenna it didn't even pick up but one channel.
Had to get my rotor replaced and called the closest antenna guy from about 30 miles away. He was a crusty miserable SOB but the first thing he said when he saw my old antenna from the 70's was, "They don't make them like that anymore!" It could pull in some distant channels on the regular...and on some nights the skip signals were quite impressive. Worked wonderfully until the neighbor's maple tree knocked the crap out of it in a wind storm. 😕
We are trying to cut the cord. The only problem is, we don't know what indoor antenna we should purchase. Our zip code is 02895. Also, we have 3 TVs so do we need 3 antennas? Thanks
Tyler, I want to commend you on doing your best to convince people an HD antenna does not exist. Probably grandpa's antenna he used to watch his early black and white television will work on today's latest TVs. But of course there are those lying antenna salesman who would lie to their mother to sell her a new antenna. And there are those antennas that are just wore out. But that I a different story. 🇺🇸🎄 Best wishes.
thank you for all your videos, looks like it doesnt really matter too terribly much for me as most all broadcasters in my area us UHF now and I live really close to all of them (11 miles or less), I may just go get a pair of rabbit ears since I can get one at walmart for $12
Have you looked into "fractal antenna" designs for television reception? I'm curious because they are heavily used for wireless communications. I don't know, perhaps that's what is inside of those flat antennae like the Mohu Leaf.
OK I have the channel master 35 . I happen to live about 30mi from a large city . I find that I cannot receive NBC NOR FOX using this antenna. So question? would I receive those channels with an amplifier or would it be a waste of money. I do notice the channels I do get with this are more consistant from the cheaper outfit I had previously.
it used to be just Wineguard. now, i would put Televes in that category. i just wish the Alliance tenna rotator with the directional labeled control box was still available.
As an antenna gets large.. most fail to properly take into account the rotor they use.. Mine is way over kill even for my ham antennas But is for 40 sq ft antennas I used to have 4 uhf beams on top..4 vhf beams in middle..and under those a steperir multibrand HF beam Rotors indeed can make a big difference..even though the rotor itself doesnt recieve the signal.. Just another part of the link of an antenna system
I need to know the best antenna for my location and the stations i can expect to get. Im not interested in putting up a tower but just a pole suitable for attachment to my home.
My Problem: WMBC I was getting with no problem at zip 07732. Now the station goes from 8 bars on my 8 year old Samsung TV to zero for a few seconds then comes back. This is driving me crazy, Help! Okay, I'm reading the comments and yes we agree he knows his stuff. But my questions aren't being answered. I live in Wisconsin. I'm in the inner city. I live in an apartment. What can I do for better reception. Yes, I have indoor antenna., but for some reason lately I'm getting poor reception.
I now offer antenna recommendations for a small fee at the link below. One from me can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
No, you can't use a satellite dish as an antenna. You can use the cable that runs from the satellite dish to your TV but it has to be done a very specific way or you will mess up your reception. I do offer setup guidance services below: www.antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
Best antenna for space coast (Cocoa, Fl ) is Winegard sensar IV. Installed out side 4-5ft above roof. I have been installing satellite dish’s since the big dish days. For every big dish we installed a local antenna also. So I have been installing antennas for 35 years. Winegard stoped making the Sensar for homes 6 months ago. So you have to buy there RV replacement instead.(now I install satellites for RV,s by the way).the Sensar replacement is an amplified antenna, so you need a power supply to power it up. I use a Directv PI 21 to do that. Also you have to retrofit it to your pole. My total cost is under $100. There is no other antenna on the market that beats the price and quality of this antenna that’s been around in RVs for 30 years. My towers are about 30 miles away
My 4 major networks are prox 25-30 miles from my house. They broadcast via "digital signal". I dont have a digital box which was offered 20 years ago but have cable which I wish to"cut". Do I need other equipment more than an antenna? Thanks and enjoy your vids.
If you have a flat screen HDTV that was purchased within the last 15 years, you do not need a converter box but you might need additional things beyond an antenna like an amplifier depending on how the signals are in your location. Feel free to purchase one of the antennas linked in the description but if you want direct assistance from me, I offer it below: www.antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
Is there a way to boost the signal of an outdoor open air antenna to amplify or increase the signal in a hilly or unlevel area? I live around 65 miles from the nearest city that all the local networks such as ABC,CBS,NBC, and Fox network are coming from! I would really appreciate it if you would inform me of what you would do if you were my neighbor to get most of your television viewing via a open air outdoor antenna? Please respond! Thanks Antenna Man!!🙂
A preamp can help with reception if the issue is signal loss in a long coaxial cable but no antenna will magically bring in stations that aren't hitting the antenna in the first place. The most important part of any antenna is the antenna itself. Consider an antenna recommendation from me at the link below. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
Ase you prepared to buy 10 antennas install them and fiddle/ reinstall them then throw 9 of them out. Your theory is great but how to find it is the hard part.
You first find out the stations are broadcasting on UHF, Hi VHF or heaven forbid low VHF? If most of the channels are on UHF and Hi VHF your antenna will be smaller and most HOAs cannot stop you from putting up this type of antenna. But if you feel you need PBS and it's low VHF channel broadcast then you will need the large antenna and you will run into HOAs issues. Most UHF and Hi VHF will work with a 4 bay or Gray Hoverman antenna and these can be made yourself and saving yourself bundles of money. The large low VHF antenna is a hard one to make some amateur radio hobbyist can show you how to build these monster antennas.
Not the Best answer.. Cheep Might get ok reception How long before the cheep breaks or needs re- odifing or adjusting or tighting etc.... Penny wise and $$ foolish never works past short term
I bought a Mohu leaf antenna 2 or 3years ago and I get 135 channels + in Los Angeles . Very clean picture. I just put it in the window. 60 miles range. 35-40 dollars.
As mentioned in the video, there is no one antenna that's the best for everyone. If you rewatch the whole video, you'll see that I mention a list of some of the best antennas that you can purchase.

Only good thing about DVB-T2 is that there will be paid channels in the air, but there is still only one multiplex in testing mode from Prague, that can't be danger for satelitte or cable TV.
Been watching your videos for over 2 years. Love it that your channel has grown so much. You deserve it!
Thanks for staying around for the last two years. I hope it continues to grow and doesn't plateau.
I purchased a 360 degree omni directional antenna from radio shack 13 years ago and it works awesome. I am in Lake Mills WI which is 35-40 miles from Madison and 50-60 Miles from Milwaukee. I get all stations from both cities.
As a longtime viewer, I knew that would be the answer.
You said it there Antenna Man it all depends where you live at what type you need.
The cheapest one that gets you the channels you want. ;)
How to build antenna like yours? Source please.
I built one
..works great....have lots of channels
Excellent video brother. You are the best unbiased source on period.
So, I visited your Amazon store and clicked on the "RCA Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna" and wanted to make sure you indeed recommended it.
Thanks,
When I tried to explain to people there are no HD or digital antennas they look at me like I'm crazy so I tell them to go watch your Channel and decide for themselves
When I saw the title for this video I thought that you had done sold out. I was wrong. You are honest. I believe what you say and I have used your recommendations today to buy my antenae and equipment. God bless.
Tyler is awesome....no b.s. videos on every type of antenna.... he knows what he is talking about......
Finally someone that gave a true answer with speed
Thanks!
Thanks Allan!
You able to get channel 21 (RF channel 2) with that antenna?
@@pblo702 tbh i get 85 channels... of which maybe 10 to 12 are useful to me... i am checking for you right now...yes, its 10:05 pm im watching the honeymooners on 21.2 looks just fine, well for black and white at the same time im watching I think Star trek DS9 on 21.1. my antenna is pointed twards black moutain on the outside of my home and, its not even elevated maybe 10 feet off the ground, im in summerlin if that helps. the antenna is not large, in fact quite compact. is an easy replacement for a direct tv or dish system. kinda glad you brought this to my attention, now im watching Get Smart... i love Get Smart. its 10:30pm
Yeah that's a great all around medium range antenna. I went to a larger UHF and separate VHF antenna for Dxing in SoCal.
The light bulbs were the culprit! Thank you so much.
I have a clearstream antenna 60+ miles and does a good job indoors at my home im not complaining about it my home made antenna does a good job as well
How did you make homade
Went with the channel master, Off grid, works great Thanks Dude
Thank you and teneman I've been watching your videos for a long time and I decided to get myself a outdoor antenna based on your information and yes it does a big difference thank you very much
I dont even watch TV anymore for the ladt 3 years, But i still enjoy your vids :)
I have been rolling my eyes at the “digital antenna” moniker since digital TV became a thing.
Thanks for your reply. I ordered the flat antenna you mentioned. I will follow up and advise you of the results.
Great information. Thank you for your hardwork
I ve been living without cable for a month. I have a cheap antenna and trying to find a better one lead me to your channel
finally someone who admits there is no such thing as a DTV antenna.
You're the man!!! This is great. I appreciate what you've done. Look forward to checking out some of your other videos
Really like this channel and your honesty and anxiety . I have sent you out too many !
The best antenna is the one that works best for you. That's about the best answer.
I agree.
I can listen to you all day.
You may not expect us to watch all your antenna reviews but I think I have.
I feel like I've seen all the videos as well (and even followed the instructions to verify signals in my exact area) but still fail to decide with all the extra "ground" rules and such
Tinfoil is king. Okay I’m ready old . I’m looking for a attic antenna. My house is 120 years old and I’m happy with that look. Nice video young man
Thanks for all you help Tyler! I have learned so much from you.
Outside antenna is the best but watch out for storms a lightning arestor is a must
My granparents had a wineguard antenna and a 39 foot tower VHF uhf fm 1970 era . It lasted for years till a ice storm destroyed it fm was great .
Can we have some sort of splitter up there and have two antennas mounted on the pole?
I have an antenna in the attic. On cloudless days I have trouble with channel 2 and channel 6. On overcast days I get all the channels fine. I sort of live over a hill from the broadcasting towers may 15 miles away. Would raising my antenna help?
Thanks.
Thanks Antenna Man!
This comment gives it away 🤣 🤣
@@friesareyummy Yep!
The CS5 is an under-rated VHF antenna.
Even if one does not cut the cord, back up the cord.
Cable goes down. When cable goes down during an emergency (black out, storm, flooding) that is when a TV and Radio are a life saver.
Best answer you could have given! Thanks.
Brother plz say 🙏whts is the your recommended bestly analog tv antnna??
Great content. Always looking for good information.
almost every time I watch the Antenna Mans vids he always makes the statement about there's no such thing as an "HD antenna or digital antenna".
I honestly binge watch all your antenna reviews sometimes lol
You'll probably see a huge difference in the first one versus the most recent one. I've improved my UA-cam channel a lot over the years
I live very rural with 3 towers between 3-15 miles away with the rest over 80 miles away. I just stuck with a indoor antenna.
Great videos. What antenna do you use?
Thanks for your recommendation on the channel master 35 worked just fine thanks
Our issue is we have two main channels in one direction, then the third is like 180 degrees from that (this one the closest and least obstructions). Not sure what antenna we need. I can get the two no problem, but can not get the third. We've even put this antenna on the roof and turned it in all different directions. They are all less than 50 miles and our antenna has a 70+ mile range. Even bought a indoor outdoor 150 mile antenna it didn't even pick up but one channel.
Incidentally 😉 the rca yagi you pictured is probably the best outdoor antenna of its size.
Had to get my rotor replaced and called the closest antenna guy from about 30 miles away.
He was a crusty miserable SOB but the first thing he said when he saw my old antenna from the 70's was, "They don't make them like that anymore!"
It could pull in some distant channels on the regular...and on some nights the skip signals were quite impressive.
Worked wonderfully until the neighbor's maple tree knocked the crap out of it in a wind storm.
😕
I hear that..lol
We are trying to cut the cord. The only problem is, we don't know what indoor antenna we should purchase. Our zip code is 02895. Also, we have 3 TVs so do we need 3 antennas? Thanks
Tyler,
I want to commend you on doing your best to convince people an HD antenna does not exist.
Hello Antenna, man I'm in miami FL and need a tv antenna for my van tv what do you recommend.
thank you for all your videos, looks like it doesnt really matter too terribly much for me as most all broadcasters in my area us UHF now and I live really close to all of them (11 miles or less), I may just go get a pair of rabbit ears since I can get one at walmart for $12
Have you looked into "fractal antenna" designs for television reception? I'm curious because they are heavily used for wireless communications. I don't know, perhaps that's what is inside of those flat antennae like the Mohu Leaf.
Excelent info! Do you think it is necessary to have all the fancy attachments (cable attachment filter) to an attic antenna?
OK I have the channel master 35 . I happen to live about 30mi from a large city . I find that I cannot receive NBC NOR FOX using this antenna. So question? would I receive those channels with an amplifier or would it be a waste of money. I do notice the channels I do get with this are more consistant from the cheaper outfit I had previously.
I am looking for a recommendation for an omnidirectional TV antenna to put ontop of my sailboat mast 50 feet in the air.
I spent days of my life as a kid spinning the antenna pole . The good old days.......hahaha.
Great job cuz. Nope seen u plenty on youtube and once fixing to be next week twice in person. Love ya.
it used to be just Wineguard. now, i would put Televes in that category.
i just wish the Alliance tenna rotator with the directional labeled control box was still available.
Yes Televes is a good company. They're easy to brush off since they're just gaining traction in the US
As an antenna gets large.. most fail to properly take into account the rotor they use..
Mine is way over kill even for my ham antennas
But is for 40 sq ft antennas
I used to have 4 uhf beams on top..4 vhf beams in middle..and under those a steperir multibrand HF beam
Rotors indeed can make a big difference..even though the rotor itself doesnt recieve the signal..
All other stations are fine, is it my TV or my Antenna? Clear stream 4 max outdoor antenna 2 years old. Thank you Arthur
Hi from Canada. Please do review on Sky Wire 80+ km range model.
I totally respect your hobbie!! When you have time we have a cabin 5 miles north of bananza oregon, could you please recommend antenna, signal box etc? We have hills and talk pine trees. Hope we can get something to watch lol thanks Len and Tresses
I hooked up a antenna inside my apartment and I got around 35 channels, Dayton Ohio is 8o miles from here, Lima is 28 and fort Wayne is 25 miles. I was getting my tv, antenna tv, grit and more then they went away I get the network stations in Lima and Fort Wayne but not any other stations. Tell me why those channels disappeared
I have wifi attached to cable inlet. I do not have cable. I have a smart tv. What antenna is best for me?
i watch all your tv antenna reviews.
Hi, can you use your old direct tv dish as an antenna?? Or ar a mounting platform using the cable from the dish to your tv??
Do TV amplifiers boosters help
The one that gets the best picture for the cheapest price.
Multiple antennas on one TV works well. Trying to find the "best one" is irritating. I've had 5 or 6 they were all similar
Not the Best answer.. Cheep Might get ok reception
How long before the cheep breaks or needs re- odifing or adjusting or tighting etc....
Penny wise and $$ foolish never works past short term
I bought a Mohu leaf antenna 2 or 3years ago and I get 135 channels + in Los Angeles . Very clean picture. I just put it in the window. 60 miles range. 35-40 dollars.
Well you almost got it and then you were there and then we're going to go to talk about thank you for helping us be more confused on
As mentioned in the video, there is no one antenna that's the best for everyone. If you rewatch the whole video, you'll see that I mention a list of some of the best antennas that you can purchase.
