As far as i'm concerned, she's the only Captain Marvel i'll ever want.
I honestly would not be messed up about Spectrum being the only Captain Marvel. I like Carol and all... but Monica is the real deal.

@@BlerdWithoutFear The first time Monica makes an appearance she's rocking a righteous afro. And then in some of the comics her hair is very straight and get skin is several shades lighter than her first appearance. The preview image you have of her isn't that bad. Now, when some newbies look at some of these images they think that actresses with lighter skin and straight hair, like Rosario Dawson (and other actresses with "racially ambiguous" features), for example should play her if it goes live action. Dawson is a phenomenal actress, but doesn't look like Monica.

She is energy and light itself, intangible and intelligent yet people have the opinion that She-Hulk or Angela are more powerful or at least don't think she is as powerful as the most popular female Marvel characters. I understand that it's also a matter of perspective but still.. She's been dubbed Captain Marvel for a reason.
True. In terms of physical strength, she's far from the most powerful. But overall, she can destroy a planet with little effort. Very few people can boast something like that. The fact that she led the Avengers, went toe to toe with some of the biggest and baddest in the universe and won, she's forever in the GOAT category.
If she ever learns to create Solid Energy Constructs she would have all of Quasar's Powers too...
Let her get around the Silver Surfer and she could to become The Power Cosmic itself...and with that power be able manipulate matter as she sees fit.
Get her near the Crimson Energy Bands of Cyterrak and she would be unstoppable...
She should be able to defeat the She-Hulk just absorb her energy. That is what she does absorbs and release energy.

Except that she's the second female Captain Marvel and the third Marvel character to be called Captain Marvel.

1. The video title includes what you mentioned. 2. She is the second Captain Marvel overall. 3. She is the first female Captain Marvel, though. And by proxy, the first black Captain Marvel. That said, she hasn't used the name since the 80's. But of the Captain Marvels, she is one of the more popular ones.

Dave Rhoden she’s the first female captain marvel. Danvers was still ms marvel during the 80s when Monica first appeared. And phyla wasn’t introduced until probably 2 decades later

Because her story came out of the Carol Danvers storyline. If you saw the movie they are setting that up. She's A little girl in the movie

They probably won't have two Captain Marvels. Monica will likely become Spectrum, maybe take the mantle at a later date. Because by the time you get to End Game, Monica would be in her early 30's

Spectrum is low key one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe. She'd drag just about anyone put in front of her. If they put her in the MCU I'd like to see her treated as an equal to Carol Danvers. None of that side kick shit. Somewhere between War Machine and Vision. Just sitting back in the cut and nuking foes at will, but still sassy, down to earth, and relatable just like in the comics.

I love Monica Rambeau and really hope to see her in Movies and cartoons soon. I know Carol Danvers is popular but I just can't get behind her. Using her as "The Main Marvel Lady" Is just obvious and a bit of a slap in the face to Monica, Invisible Woman and Storm who in my opinion have had much more of a cultural impact over the years.
Monica is one of my favorites. Her only problem is that she suffers from a problem that characters like Superman tend to get saddled with. "So powerful that they're very difficult to write for." I like Carol, and I get why she's the frontrunner. She's been around a long time. Storm has her place as one of the most powerful beings in existence. And she is/was Queen of Wakanda. Intellectual property rights, up until recently, made them being frontrunners virtually improbable
@@BlerdWithoutFear I feel like the true point of a Superman story(and characters like him) isn't about who's the most "powerful". Superman's most dangerous enemy is arguably Lex Luthor, who's superpower is basically his genius.
Both Superman and Batman are crazy OP in their own ways, but their best enemies are people who find the cracks in their armor. Luthor can turn entire nations against Superman, which renders all those powers kinda useless(you can't just slaughter everyone who takes Luthor's side).
Or put another way, the USA is "over-powered" compared to the rest of the planet. We have the most expensive military, bar nothing. Yet, we still got rolled by a bunch of low-tech lunatics who turned our technology and money against us. I guess what I'm saying is, in Superman's case the problem imo is often not his power level, but the writing.
The problem is Marvel has a way of creating black powerful female characters with a weakness that effects their power and hinders them from reaching their full potential.
Storm was the most powerful X-Woman but because of Jean, who was naturally weak, Storm had to be written down. Claustrophobia and the fact that she’s human yet a mutant made her more less powerful than could be. But her power could not be denied so they had to upgrade Jean. Even wrote Storm to deny an upgrade twice.
Jean, Scarlet, Carol, Emma, Rogue (now immortal), Jubilee, Mystique, Psylocke and all other race of female heroes will always have an advantage over black female heroes.

This is why I stop buying the comics, watching the cartoons and the movies.

as a young white boy she was the sole reason I collected Avengers comics (my fav at the time was x-men and then Longshot mini series), I knew nothing of the previous Captain America, they totally screed around with her name...they should have kept CAPTAIN and then added Pulsar or Spectrum etc. Because she deserved the title and reference to her previous self. CAPTAIN PULSAR has a ring to it. OR Captain Light

So right. Marvel has an embarrassment of riches in Black characters. But they're really only just now using them any. Brian Michael Bendis is the only reason we got Miles Morales and Riri Williams. Thank you for reminding folks of Monica Rambeau. When I first heard that a Captain Marvel movie was in the works, I was hopeful that it would be about this character. When someone says "Captain Marvel" she is the hero that comes to my mind. Not to be confused with Mar-Vel the alien soldier or Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) who was so uninteresting that they had to reboot her title 6 or 8 times in less than a decade. Now it is clear that the Danvers version is going to get the role. Sad...

I might be wrong but I Think Monica Rambeau was a love interest to the Black Panther way back in Jungle action presents comics in the late '70s, early '80s. I vaguely remember a storyline of T'Challa being involved with Monica Rambeau in Louisiana. Can anyone else confirm this?

Spectrum has come a long way. She was notoriously hard to write for in anything other than a team book, but she's climbed her way back into the public eye.

There should be an A-Force movie with Monica Rambeau leading it! Or a Stand Alone movie, because I was underwhelmed with the Captain marvel movie I just feel there were so many other ways they could’ve made it’s great if they wanted to keep the Brie Larson Captain Marvel they could’ve made it a team up movie, a Captain Marvel and Spectrum movie!
From what has been thrown around the rumor mill, A-Force is something thats being discussed at Marvel. Kevin Feige has said as much. That said, I enjoyed Captain Marvel, but I also didn't go into expecting to "have my mind blown" either. I love all 7 of the Captain Marvels.... even Noh-Varr.
@ Blerd Without Fear Too bad you left out her fight against Zeus king of Olympus. She couldn't defeat him but hurt the sky god enough for Hercules (and the rest of the Avengers) to take note of it. That battle with Zeus severely weakened her, but it wasn't as bad as when she attacked Thanos's ship where it drained her so badly that her physical body was all shriveled up (similar to her accident in the ocean). Or am I getting my stories mixed up? it's been a long time since I read those issues lol. Anyway her stint with The Ultimates put her back in the spotlight, and I'm sure a lot of fans are crossing their fingers for her to find her way into the big screen along with Captain Marvel. :-)

Keep up the good work i myself is an eighties comic books reader i had a lot back then...so i know. And for example black panther was around over 49 yrs and he recently got his movie and look at money it brought in....so i believe in doing things from the roots or beginning is the right way....Monica should have been first on the big screen.
Technically, if we're saying roots, then it would've been Mar-Vell. But I get what you're saying
Monica was a victim of editorial politics. When another editor took over The Avengers title, he wanted Captain America to once again be the leader. When Roger Stern refused to do this he was removed or quit the title and replaced with a writer who would comply.

Not exactly. Mar-vell predated her by almost 15 years, but she's definitely the first female Captain Marvel. And the closest anyone else would get to being first. She's always in my top 5. Ain't nobody better than Monica 😎

Yeah thats the messed up thing about Ultimates. Its easy to slip up on the Ultimate Marvel version. Technically they did do a tie in since Marvel considers them to be the "same" title. So the last issue of Ultimates 2 was issue 100 I think. But yeah. I prefer her Ultimates

I'm more than a year late, but this was a great video! I didn't know much about her, but now I want to see her in a movie. I do think she needs a better weakness because I don't like overpowered characters.
Eh, depends on the character. If written well, I can ignore it. But who knows, she's already made an MCU appearance in Captain Marvel and its highly hinted at that she will grow up to be a hero like in the comics.

I'm not certain, but its definitely probably one of the more interesting developments with Lex. I'm gonna have get back on my Superman kick. I had issues with him in New 52, so picking him up in DC Rebirth was a challenge for me, as many noted when I did my first Superman video lol. But so far I have been loving it
