It’s now 2024 and five weeks ago I used this video to guide me when assisting my Mum to apply. Today she received a letter telling her she has been awarded the full payment. We can’t thank you enough for taking your time in making this video, we would not have been able to get this without your help. In fairness she should have applied a few years ago but was always reluctant until now. Thank you so much, you are changing lives.
I would like to say a big thank you for this video I followed your instructions when filling out the book and have found out today that my dad has been granted the full amount we are really pleased and wanted to give you credit for this
Thank you so much for posting this! With your help my husband filled in the form for me, sent in my most recent medical reports and I’ve heard today I have been awarded Attendance Allowance at the higher rate. Your post was invaluable at pointing out how best to answer the questions and keep the information to the salient points. We are both very grateful.
Just wanted to say a really big thank you for doing this video. I watched all the way through twice and made lots of notes to help me remember when filling the form in. I applied for attendance allowance 5 years ago and got turned down flat. My condition is exactly the same but I decided after watching your video to try reapplying which I did using all the tips you give. Long story short I submitted my application and 2-weeks later I got an acceptance letter back telling me that I am able to full attendance allowance day and night. Thank you once again and anyone reading this even though this video is about 45 minutes long it is well worth sitting through it and doing your form how exactly as he says. I'm proof that it works a treat. This new amount of money will help me pay for help I really need now.
Hi Val, im really glad to hear this was helpful and you were able to get the right award for your conditions. Thank you for your kind and detailed comment
Thank you. We watched your video before submitting my husband’s application for Attendance Allowance. We printed off a copy to read it through and prepare ourselves before requesting the form. I rang up on 08/01/2024, the form arrived the next day. My husband’s first payment arrived in his bank on 03/03/2024, he was awarded the higher rate. This will make a big difference to us since our income wasn’t quite covering our out goings. I just want to encourage other people in a similar position to us, just do it! I just want to add that we were not applying under the special rules so his claim was not fast tracked.
Thank you Stuart. I had no idea how to fill out this form for my elderly father and what information to include. I had kept it too brief. This video clearly guides you through the form and is greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work.
This video is very helpful as I am trying to help my elderly parents from the USA and have no idea what the processes are in England . Thank you very much .
Thank you so much. It was easy to follow and pause when necessary. The 02/23 form is slightly different, so needed to look at the question not the no. All in all very helpful maybe an update required.
Glad it was helpful! The form is a little different now, but the same rules apply, but if you run out of space to answer a question, just add more sheets with the National Insurance number and name of the applicant printed on the top of each sheet.
What a useful video full of great tips on how to fill out the form and what to include. I’ve been putting off filling out and claiming the attendance allowance from but I feel much more confident now so thank you Stuart and keep up the good work.
A very big thank you Stuart, I have been awarded the higher rate of attendance allowance. I really appreciate the emphasis on detailed information you advised upon. I really broke down each and every aspect of my inability to care for myself, how I needed help in all most every aspect of daily life due to my chronic diseases and very poor mobility. I have received payment from early September 2022 to 20th December 2022? It took a long time as It wasn’t possible for various agencies to visit us in the time frame given in which to return the claim forms. Therefore we started logging each day as it occurred. We had to add additional information, probably anA4 sheet for each question. I felt like giving in , but as you said there is no limit as to the extra information you can give to clarify how you personally are affected by your illnesses . I cannot quite believe it. Thanks again. This will help us so much as we have been purchasing equipment/ aids constantly.
before i was told about this video i was stressed at the 33 page AA form. Thanks to you i filled it in no issue ,knew what to put ,funny you dont realise how much you have to write but once you know what they need you have lots to say!
Thank you so much after applying for my elderly mother by watching your video she has now received the allowance. and now hopefully I can apply to be a carer for her. On another note this system that has been placed for these benefits is truly horrendous. God help people on universal credit I've seen work coaches literally treat people like they're rabid dogs and some claimants that should not be in any Jobcentre as they're unbelievably ill and are told they're fit for work after overturning there fit notes by a private paid company.
I have downloaded the form and found your video. I will apply for my dad, he is 78 years old and recently started to walk like a toddler. He had falls and stumbles a lot. So I'm doing their shopping and join him in his walks as I'm worried he will have a bad fall. Thanks for this video very useful and informative.
Thank you for doing this , it has proved a great help filling out the paperwork and helping convince someone that they were able to claim and entitled to do so successfully. Thanks again .
Your brilliant video is an excellent resource. I'm filling in this form from Australia for my mum. Your compassionate, clear and concise tips have been very useful. Thank you!
We just received our forms and have until 6th January to return them, so we are filling them out a few pages at a time over the next few days and following your video as we go. Thank you so much for posting, as you have already made starting the form earlier. Will let you know if we are successful.
Thank you Stuart for a very helpful video I'm sure your sound advice in filling out the many pages of the form swayed the balance in my favour of a successful application I appreciate your time and effort in this video 👍
TY so much for this info, it will surely BLESS countless who keep sharing it too!! Most of us can use all the help avail or kno of others who would benefit!! 😇 Kinda off subject, but any advice for a documented extremely disabled 58yr lady with several post cancer pain issues & other disorders that leave me bedridden x6 yrs now? I live in FL & applied 4yrs ago for disability but IRS doesn’t show I have enough earned working credits! Well, stage 3 aggressive cancer & daily radiation, chemo, etc kinda did me in, for starters, then side effects started & I’m now in wheelchair or in bed 24/7 bcuz permanent nerve damages from cancer, & can no longer sit/stand/walk more than few steps unassisted. Years of necessary medical expenses have wiped out my savings too! I’ve worked most of my life & filed taxes, BUT having rental properties & trucking biz & Road mechanic biz, my accountant advised me not to pay myself or claim taxes bc it’d be awash!? Now I’ve apparently acted on bad advice!! 🤷🏻♀️🤬 TY for ANY helpful advice, BLESSINGS!!
Hi, by the sound of some of your comments it seems like you might be based in the US, if so unfortunately I am unable to advise on services over there, but thank you for your kind comments
Thank you Stuart your video was a massive help in getting the allowance for my mum...I would have missed so much detail in the application without your guidance.
Thank you! Went through the form and through the video bit by bit as I progressed from question to question and this video is very helpful, took me a few days to complete. Can't explain how much it helped... Drudging through old forms/letters and so on was a pain and took me ages, medical records, reports and things I thought were lost and you soon discover missed things and stuff people pass off as nothing and in the end of the day it isn't; like the falls and stumbles. Copying all said evidence and making a copy of the finished form for my own records is recommended. In truth, the Q50 extension on information you can add is only that one page (as you stated). I had to make several copies of that, about 11 pages to be added on so for people without scanners or printers also making a 1:1 copy is going to be hard for them, but simple lined paper is great. Now I'd advise people as you stated to apply through the phone if possible as you will get back dated upon being granted the Allowance from the day you ordered the form. Again a thousand thank you!!! Stay safe.
Thank you for your kind words and points and i'm very glad i could help. Good point about making a few copies of Q50, if you have a lot of info, copy it before you write on it. If you have 2 minutes please share the video to help get the support to those who need it the most. 🙏
Just to add you if you need to send supporting evidence with your form for eg , power of attorney docs, medical letters, then take it to your local job centre, they can certify the supporting evidence is a true copy and the job centre can send the form and evidence for processing
Firstly, thank you for the information. I have two questions. Do I have to wait for a amount of time before claiming. Also when the condition deteriates can the day rate be changed to the day and night rates easily?
This is a ridiculously good video - thank you. I'm completing a form for my father who has Parkinson's. Has been tremendously good for helping illuminate that things to consider and included. Many, many thanks.
Thnkyou so much for your vidoe im 74 always had back problems now its got so much worse and never thought i could get help but this has given me hope thankyou will let you know how it goes
Thank you for all your videos. My husband can’t lay down for too long because he has pain. He also needs to go to the toilet every 3 (ish) hours and this takes about 10 mins, just once during the night but he stays up until midnight and gets up at about 7am (not by choice). Is this staying up and getting up day or night needs?
Thank you for taking the time to give us this information. Wonder if anyone knows if someone claims carers's allowance for me, will it be deducted off my Attendance allowance.?
Hi, Carer's Allowance is an Income Benefit so it should not affect your Attendance Allowance payment as it is not Income based. However if you are receiving Pension Credit and get the Severe Disability Premium element added to it (as you get Attendance Allowance) then this could be reduced by the amount claimed in Carers Allowance.
@@StuartMcGoo Thank you so much for your prompt reply, you are very kind. I have recently been put on Attendance Allowance and I don't get pension credit or severe disability payment. I undersatand it better now, so thank you so much for your help, it is very much appreciated. Kind regards.
Thank you Stu, for lots of very helpful information. I can't apply by phone (severe & profoundly deaf), and no printer for downloaded forms so application problems have started early ☹ As with many in my position, I felt my deafness was a condition not a disability, a personal problem that I have to deal with, so your covering of normality to life changing abnormality is particularly useful for deaf people.
Hi Stuart. Thank you wonderful informative video, many useful tips. I listened to whole of video, I had to concentrate as the sound volume was bit low: even though I had maximum volume on my laptop. On the whole good video.
Hiya Stuart thanks very much for this tutorial.I will let you know if I am successful.I am also after a mobility allowance as I am exforces. Can you help please as I am after transport.
Hi Michael - there is no mobility component for Attendance Allowance / People over 65. If you do not already have DLA/PIP mobility in place before you reach that age then you will not be able to get a mobility payment. It is not a part of Attendance Allowance. That said, if you are struggling with being able to find personal disability specific transport and you are still able to drive it might be worth you speaking with your local SSAFA representative as they may be able to assist with that.
I have a question about the boxes that require a number for "How many times a day". For issues such as motivation to wash. this is a continual issue, so is "All day" acceptable? I can't find any guidance on this.
Put an average number that you think reflects what you experience. For washing if you would normally wash twice a day but can't motivate yourself on either occasion, you would put 2.
@@StuartMcGoo Thank you for your response! It's a continuous battle tbh. Lucky if it happens once a week. So I had put "continuous" "all day". But felt uneasy about how that might be interpreted. This is DWP afterall! I will change this now. Thank you again!
Hi my wife is suspected of having Fibromyalgia however still awaiting reply from rheumatology due to 6 months wait do you asist with PIP form as I have been told it is very challenging with fibromyalgia.
It can be very challenging. I can help with some forms if people are in a difficult situation in terms of accessing support locally but I would always encourage you to find support from a local disability advice service. If you want to email me at stu.mcgoo.info@gmail.com with your location I can try to find a suitable service for you
Thanks for this video. Its very informative. My dad is 68 and has needed my constant care since my mum passed in 2020. He's stubborn and doesn't want to know about claiming benefits or even going to the doctor. He was meant to have spinal surgery 5 years ago, but he was so stubborn and refused. Since then his legs are completely weak and give way pretty much all the time. He constantly needs me around for support. Do you think he will still qualify with these gaps in medical history?
Hi Stu I got the form sent to me by post it has an envelope with it with the address written on it . Is that enough or do i need to write any address or add stamps on it? Should i put it in a priority box or an ordinary one will do ? Thanks
Hi Loubna, the form is ok to go in the envelope provided and the vast majority are received with no problem, however if you are unable to copy your form or if you just want to be sure you can send it recorded delivery to the address on the envelope
Thank you so much for this video - I feel I can tackle the form now. I have other forms I would like help with. I've been refused a blue badge for my mum and dad, they are 91 and 97 years old and cannot walk very far so taking them to doctor & hospital appointments is difficult with parking element... Do you have a video to help with that?
Thank you for this guide very helpful only one thing my father is filling in the form so who signs the form if my mother isn't capable. Can dad print mums name and underneath sign his name . On this form dad received there isn't a section for him to say he's filled it out or signed on mother's behalf it's address to mother only Thank you
Thank you for your time. Do you know about the procedure when a DWP visiting officer visits a claimant in his or her home to fill the Attendance Allowance form for them?
Yes and this can be very useful for some people, though, as I mention in the video, contacting your local services is often the best port of call as depending on the area the waiting lists for visits from the DWP visiting service can vary and the service you access (Age UK/Macmillan/Social Srrvices etc.) can send in a direct referral to the DWP if required/appropriate.
@@Bigchurchmusic They help but they are not as inclined to extract information that the claimant may not see as pertinent (but is), where as an Age UK or specialist support officer is more likely too. Many Age UK offices are classed as an "alternative office" for the DWP so get extra support with filling in forms and are able to provide very detailed advice if someone is unsure whether they might qualify.
Hi Stuart I had a lot of trouble understanding the form but thanks to you you explained it in a simple way it made me feel confident that it will be excepted hopefully, is it alright if i fill out the form for my mum as we live together , and she will sign it. Thanks
I am still waiting for my AA form from the mail to come through. I have hip osteoarthritis and Is recommended for hip replacement. As it is I am suffering day and night from constant pain but I am being brave and still go to work 4 days a week which requires a lot of walking. I can walk with obvious limping due to pain but has no carer to help with my needs as I can still do cooking and basic housework. What is my chance of getting the AA as I don’t hire or require for now a carer. Thanks
Hi, thanks for your comment and watching the video. It is not a requirement that you have a carer assisting you, just that you would benefit from some kind of assistance with daily living activities. That could be a support rail, an electronic reminder or a person.
Hi Kelly, apologies for my delay in responding to you. Unfortunately I am not in a position to help you with this personally but I think it would be a really good idea for me to create a step by step video on how to fill in this form as many people such as yourself find it hard work to fill in. As it is only a short form it wont take me long to do, but due to my other commitments I probably wont be able to get chance to do so this week. That said I will do my very best to squeeze it in and will let you know as soon as it is uploaded. Also it is worth going to your local authority website to see if there are any other organisations local to you that might be able to help you with the form. Most services are over-stretched and have long waiting lists unfortunately, especially at this time of year, but you should not give up.
2022 MY ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE HAS JUST INCREASED BY. ARE YOU SITTING DOWN .. OK WELL HERE GOES 6P PER DAY. NOW MY MONEY PROBLEMS ARE ALL SOLVED. WONDERFUL. WHAT A FRIGGING JOKE
@@StuartMcGoo Person who state that attendance allowance went up by £1.80 a month, but he/she does not give any details of case. It leaves the reader rather confused.
İf you are over 70 or 75, you have normal health problems such as tinnitus for 30 years and hearing problems, why do you need to explain everything such as begging DWP to describe it painful way fill up 50 questionnaire form. DWP knows nhs number as well as doctors address. Why so hassle at this ages. It is a bit of out of date. I found it ver irritating annoying managing sick people. I think it is a bit disgrace.
@rayandco • 7 min ago Hi I have a relative currently receiving attendance allowance which expires and needs to be reapplied for in approximately 4 months time, where can l obtain a form now not direct from dwp , for example citizens advice etc so I can examine and know what proof of illnesses, medication, doctors notes etc which were asked for previously and give me time to request etc, is there somewhere I can obtain a copy of allowance application form for reference ahead of time, before i ask dwp to send official form nearer time

@@StuartMcGoo thanks very much for your prompt reply Stuart
On the AA form is it essential i give names and numbers for help i get through the day with my disabilities
Not essential but it may help
If you want to email me at stu.mcgoo.info@gmail.com with your location I can try to find a suitable service for you
Really helpful video. Greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Thank you so much for your contribution, it's a big help to the channel and supporting others!
I think he will qualify. Also you may qualify for carers allowance yourself.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Hi Stu
I got the form sent to me by post it has an envelope with it with the address written on it .
Yes I do - ua-cam.com/video/eE0one3Xexc/v-deo.html
@@StuartMcGoo Thank you!!
Thank you for this guide very helpful only one thing my father is filling in the form so who signs the form if my mother isn't capable.
Can dad print mums name and underneath sign his name .
On this form dad received there isn't a section for him to say he's filled it out or signed on mother's behalf it's address to mother only
Thank you
Thanks very much for this very helpful.
@@StuartMcGoo the DWP arranged the visit in 10 days, so that's good.
Generally speaking is the DWP officer allowed to help in any way?
@@Bigchurchmusic They help but they are not as inclined to extract information that the claimant may not see as pertinent (but is), where as an Age UK or specialist support officer is more likely too. Many Age UK offices are classed as an "alternative office" for the DWP so get extra support with filling in forms and are able to provide very detailed advice if someone is unsure whether they might qualify.
@@StuartMcGoo thank you for your help.
Hi took your AA advise a while back with success for my wife Do the same rules apply for my review on DLA
If it's DLA, then yes, they are similar, but if it's PIP, no, they are quite different.
Hi Stuart I had a lot of trouble understanding the form but thanks to you you explained it in a simple way it made me feel confident that it will be excepted hopefully, is it alright if i fill out the form for my mum as we live together , and she will sign it. Thanks
Yes that is fine as long as she is aware of what you have written and agrees with it.
@@StuartMcGoo can i ask if receiving pip can i still claim attendance allowance
This is encouraging. Thanks. :)
Thank you for this.
My father has been abroad for 2 years can he still get attendance allowance
How long does it take for attendance allowance get in touch with you l post form two weeks ago now not heard anything yet.
12 weeks minimum, usually
What's the best way to contact with you .
Thanks
I fill in all forms two weeks ago now how long do they take to get in touch with you ?
12 weeks
Really helpful. Thank you 👏👏
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you
Very informative
hi, do you have a video on Disability Living Allowance
for a child under 16? cheers
It's on my to-do list, apologies that I haven't as yet. The new form is very different to the old one anyways, mostly just a tick box form.
@@StuartMcGoo thanks :)
Please try download carer allowance form . What is this unlock password which was downloaded ?
Need help with my forms sos
Hi Kelly, apologies for my delay in responding to you. Unfortunately I am not in a position to help you with this personally but I think it would be a really good idea for me to create a step by step video on how to fill in this form as many people such as yourself find it hard work to fill in. As it is only a short form it wont take me long to do, but due to my other commitments I probably wont be able to get chance to do so this week. That said I will do my very best to squeeze it in and will let you know as soon as it is uploaded. Also it is worth going to your local authority website to see if there are any other organisations local to you that might be able to help you with the form. Most services are over-stretched and have long waiting lists unfortunately, especially at this time of year, but you should not give up.
helpfull thank you
Glad it helped
Thank you Sir
Thank you so useful
You are welcome
Read carefully.
A lot of words. Why not just say, "if you recieve more than £ xxxxx a month >> forget it".
Income is not assessed in Attendance Allowance, it is not means tested.
2022 MY ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE HAS JUST INCREASED BY. ARE YOU SITTING DOWN .. OK WELL HERE GOES 6P PER DAY. NOW MY MONEY PROBLEMS ARE ALL SOLVED. WONDERFUL.
WHAT A FRIGGING JOKE
yes, peanuts really
@@StuartMcGoo Person who state that attendance allowance went up by £1.80 a month, but he/she does not give any details of case. It leaves the reader rather confused.
İf you are over 70 or 75, you have normal health problems such as tinnitus for 30 years and hearing problems, why do you need to explain everything such as begging DWP to describe it painful way fill up 50 questionnaire form. DWP knows nhs number as well as doctors address. Why so hassle at this ages. It is a bit of out of date. I found it ver irritating annoying managing sick people. I think it is a bit disgrace.
I must be deaf
Not sure what you mean.

Hi I have a relative currently receiving attendance allowance which expires and needs to be reapplied for in approximately 4 months time, where can l obtain a form now not direct from dwp , for example citizens advice etc so I can examine and know what proof of illnesses, medication, doctors notes etc which were asked for previously and give me time to request etc, is there somewhere I can obtain a copy of allowance application form for reference ahead of time, before i ask dwp to send official form nearer time
Yes go to www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance and you can download the form.
Thanks
Thank you so much for your kind words and contribution. Best of luck
