I tore my ACL from wearing FG boots on AG. Hard accelleration to intercept a pass. When i got to the ball and wanted to change direction, the knee twisted. Im believe it would not have been torn with AG boots.
What's the difference in playability though? From the comments here it seems like the FG boots give more grip so allow for sharper movements, turns, and explosion... Is that the case? Appreciate you consider the safety and monetary aspects, but playability is also important...

my son plays in college, we've been getting AG boots from Unisport as they don't have them in the US! Excellent investment in his health
You can get hard rubber, AG studs for SG boots. They are much lower than SG studs and the grip is just right for the surface and the ball.
Usually I play in Astros on normal grass because you dont ruin the grass and they can be worn on both grass and astro. But sometimes i do wear my studded boots if it is muddy (I'm in the UK)
My friend lost his leg from an injury cause he used FG boots on an AG pitch. I even have multiple friends who tore their ACL cause they wore FGs on AG pitches. The bottom line is that he's right. For the most part you will be fine. But the one instance you get injured, it can be very very bad. It only takes one nasty injury to fuck you up good. Be safe out there and use the right boots for the right surfaces.
Which boots were they wearing? E.g was is Nike or Adidas? Thanks
@@npc2k majority wore Nike, some used Adidas. As for my friend who lost his leg, I believe he was using adidas.
@@JNT169 thanks. They say adidas ag stud pattern is the same as the fg version thats why i asked.
@@npc2k yeah adidas AG stud pattern is trash. no cap
@@JNT169 yeah its annoying as i love the speedportal .1 turfs but don't want to get the ag version with the stud pattern.
Why I haven’t seen this video 4 weeks earlier …
Exactly what you said my shoe stocked in the grass and my knee turned…
But thanks :) now when I’m fit again I’ll try the other ones
and here I am watching this video after having an ACL injury while playing with the rubber turf sole. #sadlife
Damn bro that’s a long recovery
Recover soon bro 💪💪
One can only hope the boot manufacturers will hear you and make more AG variants...
What about the boots you label FG/AG, are they ok to use on artificial grass?
Their studs I belive are longer meaning you most likely going to be hitting tbe concrete layer underneath. Can result in nasty internal boils in your feet.
It's basically an FG boot that has the warranty of an AG boot. In other words, you don't lose your warranty by wearing FG/AG boots on artificial grass, but they're just as unsafe to use as normal FG boots are. Go full AG is my best advice. /Jay
You should remove AG-label from AG/FG. Dont think customers understand the warranty-theory behind it. Also, the ag/fg description on the webiste says that you can use it both on new generation artificial grass pitches and natural grass
I am begging to pwg to do 3 skill tutorial
1.How to do continous Around The World.
2.How to do a blocking trick... Block Hop Around The World.
3.How to Do Touzani Around The World and MITCH Around The World..
Please Tell PWG to make a 'Deeper' step by step tutorial on these trick 🙏
Very true...I used FG boots on AG pitch...and got a twisted knee
Hope you have a speedy recovery! /Jay
@@unisport yeah thx
I’m currently alternating between AG pro tiempos and TF tiempos. I only play on AG. No issues with either pair. Don’t really have a preference either
Well 2:15 i have experienced.. it was the cause of me breaking my ankle on AG field wearing FG boots.. my foot was simply planted in the ground while i turned my body
In American football we consider all cleats with short conical studs to be turf shoes. Screw ins are for grass.
This is true frl, I’ve just found this out like a month and a half ago. Not only your knees, but your ankles too. My ankles feel loose and real uncomfortable.
What boots are you using
@@npc2k I was using the adidas speed portal (lace less)
I use metal studs on artificial gras and it has not warn down so wear them on anything
👌
👍
What is the difference between AG boots and TF boots? I thought that TF boots are better for artificial grass due to the foam material they have 🤔
TF shoes are better for the old artificial turf pitches (also hard pitches or ash pitches) and AG for the newer artificial turf pitches with higher artificial grass
My boots are made for grass and artificial grass as it says FG/AG on the box. But thanks for the insight tho 🙏🏻
I tore my ACL from wearing FG boots on AG. Hard accelleration to intercept a pass. When i got to the ball and wanted to change direction, the knee twisted. Im believe it would not have been torn with AG boots.
What boots were you wearing
@@npc2k Nike Mercurial Vapor 11 2016-17
I believe that it’s true,I got pain a lot because of the wrong cleats
Thanks for the info
This was SO MUCH FUN to watch. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips
Sprained my MCL today whilst waiting for AG boots to arrive. Find yourself some AG ones
What's the difference in playability though? From the comments here it seems like the FG boots give more grip so allow for sharper movements, turns, and explosion... Is that the case? Appreciate you consider the safety and monetary aspects, but playability is also important...
Thank you for this video it really answered all my questions. You have got yourself a new subscriber 👍
Had a tibial plateau fracture in FG boots on an AG pitch. Went to make a sharp pivot and while the rest of my body moved, my right leg was planted and well, snap! Never again.
Which boots were you wearing?
@@npc2k Nike Tiempo Legend V. Not even the craziest stud pattern, but that just shows how much grip FG boots have on AG. The rear studs were long and dug in super deep.
Only problem is inventory. Can't ever find AG boots in stock anywhere. If this is true why are Nike, Adidas, etc selling us the wrtong boots all the time?
As a person who has never worn an helmet while riding a bike, i see this as an absolute win.
SG boots on an AG field caused me 9 months of recovery with a ruptured ACL!
Me too bro
If I had only encountered this video 4 years back 😂💔. 100% true. I tore my ACL for LA Galaxy tryout for the same reason.
Very important video. I tore my acl this way and it’s been a long road ever since
Which boots?
@@npc2k they were in a pair of umbro medusae lace less leather. They have a mixed stud configuration
@@pharaohsoccerp ah ok. Sorry to hear that. Keep grinding and working hard and you will make a comeback stronger
@@npc2k thank man, I am already back to playing after tearing it twice, once in soccer as I mentioned earlier, they other time in wrestling. Thank God for free healthcare in Canada. This was a while ago by the way
I play on both AG and FG pitch randomly so I never know if it’s gonna be 50/50 or 30/70 or whatever. Taking your advice I’m gonna go with AG boots but I have 1 question… what are the downsides of playing with AG boots on FG pitch??
Kindly suggest what type of boots to use on a natural ground without grass. Thanks.
I'm in America right now so we don't really have AG boot where can I get those from
I tore my ligament once because I made this mistake and ended up with a foot cast for 2 months, don't make the same mistake and by AG shoes if you play on AG pitches.
Thanks for the explanation. I will try to pick AG boots going forward!
Your videos are so useful
I just use turf shoes as opposed to cleats of any kind! Don’t want my foot getting stuck in that nasty plastic mesh whatsoever! I would then have FG for playing on grass in summer and SG for the muddy days in UK winter
What’s the experience using mizuno fg boots on ag surfaces? The studs are circular yes but are they too long?
I did this and I didn’t know it was wrong and I got injured. A partial avulsion fracture
I think this is why I have been having ankle problems because I make so many sharp turns it hurts my ankle and been causing be injuries so purchased some ag should be coming soon
No wonder I got 0 playing time. I was using FG on AG pitches and 1 minute into the game my feet were already burning. I Get subbed out, confidence slowly plummets ):
watched the whole thing and i agree but cant give up change of pace
So I've got Nike ZOOM Vapors 15 academy FG/MG which means i can use them without risk on artifical grass😊
That’s how I tore my knee, the grip on vapor 13 elite too grippy😌
My ag cleats are getting old and can't seem to find a place to get them in the US. Why can't they be shipped outside Europe?
i had played with SG anti clog phantom venom cleats on a AG pitch 4 times but thank god something didint happen
what would you prefer Mercurial Superflys 9 to ag or fg
DONT WEAR FG BOOTS ON AG PITCH
Yeah guys if you are here watching this this is a huge favor you’re doing to yourself. Wish I was sane enough to watch this before I bought my boots. I am not professionaly playing football, i play basketball but i really enjoy playing football since i was little. And I started to play football more than basketball lately and decided to buy new boots. I found my size (47-13) and I didn’t wanna miss because it’s harder to find bigger shoes. Ao I bought it immediatly. And I was really happy that it was an elite version of phantom gx. But I didn’t pay any attention to its plate. Just like the man says, its fine until its dont. Torn my ACL on fg boots on ag pitch. I can’t do my own sport. Still waiting for my surgery. Hope I can come back and be as good as old times on AG boots :) Stay safe ✌🏻
Sorry to hear that. Which fg boots did you buy?
What about brands saying that their boots are " FG/AG" even that they're using the se aggressive soleplate with chevron studs , are brands lying to us? , or are we making soleplate type issue a bigger concern than it actually is?
It's basically an FG boot that has the warranty of an AG boot. In other words, you don't lose your warranty by wearing FG/AG boots on artificial grass, but they're just as unsafe to use as normal FG boots are. Go full AG is my best advice. /Jay
i was today yrs old when i learned about "fg" and "ag" type boots and fields
Pwolli video, man!🔥 helful
Or u can also get sg boots but buy plastic stud replacements and switch to plastic while playing on ag and switch back to sg on fg places
copa mundials at half the price of new ag's - copas have better stronger leather than a tiempo elite ag (i have and use both) another bonus with the copas is that they have rivets, negative on the copa heel lockdown is garbage unless grip sock helps but def nowhere close to a modern day ag lockdown. great vid as always. wish adidas north america made ag available. i rarely see a player with ag boots in canada
is mg(adidas multiground) the best option?
With AG boots/shoes. I feel like i would prefer less grip and risk slipping on my rear end.
Is there a selection with lower studs/pattern to allow that moreso than others?
To be honest best thing for artificial grass pitch are astro turf trainers and grip socks
Yup he’s right. Sprained my hamstring and twisted my knee.Switched straight away to AG boots. Don’t risk it!
I’m sitting here watching this with a knee injury, an injury that happened literally because of this. Should have seen this vid a few months ago …
Sorry to hear that, hope you'll have a speedy recovery! We made this video a while back, but it's still super relevant. ua-cam.com/video/Cq7zdNJIm7I/v-deo.html
I only started paying attention cause I have had ankle pain for playing with FG boots on AG.
Nice video, bro 👍👍thank you
HI. can you make a video where you analyze the difference between ag and fg on the new predators?
I see a fairly similar sole
What about the Puma King fg/ag line? The studs are all conical. Would these still be considered more as fg boots?
lolz... so true, I didn't even know until my coach told me. So much better with the correct plate.
What about HG cleats? (Hard ground) I'm a goalkeeper who uses HG cleats on an Artificial Grass
