We have a bowl of mixed fresh fruit with a little plain yogurt sprinkled with cacao powder then one slice of toast. Then we go for a bike ride, hike or ski depending on the weather and season. We are usually back for lunch but once or twice a week pack a sandwich and do something longer. Today was skiing. I am 78, my wife is 71 and we are both in perfect health. It doesn’t take any will power because one of our best decisions was to sell our house and move to a beautiful area where all the activities we enjoy are in easy reach.
I am 68 years old & my "Retirement Journey " starts on August 1, 2024 ( when my colleagues go back to school, since I'm now a retired Elementary SchoolTeacher) I'm new to your channel & I internalize EVERYTHING-YOU-SAY-LIKE-A-SPOPNGE!"...(I've already shared your video with 8 of my family & friends. )...Thank You!..Love you Guys!❤
I have come to see your vlog and I got instantly motivated to go back tregularly to my exercises with more vigor! Thank you so much! Please continue to do what you're doing now! It's really so motivating, very educational and very inspiring❤️
I don't understand people that want to keep the same routine as when they worked. Getting the proper rest and feeling good is the best. I get up now feeling better than ever. That extra sleep is life changing.
Yes as we age we actually may need more sleep. Your body will tell you. The routine is to make sure you set your day up for success. Getting some healthy habits will go a long way to a longer healthier life
So true! We both read the book “Magical Morning” recently and it has really helped us. We retired in October and still trying to figure things out. Love your channel.❤
I have not read that but I will look into it. I hope by now you see my book was just released. I hope you grab a copy, I would love to hear what you think. bit.ly/TheEvolvingMan
I love this video / messages about needing a "meaning full" morning routine, focus on one's daily to-do list, making a good sleep pattern, goal setting, more self care, more physical fitness, better eating, etc. etc. Thank you for making me change my past ways - to have a better future life.... Keep up the great work!
Retired December 31, 2023. Have a morning routine but is evolving every day. Having a dog to walk is wonderful to get me out walking more. Also having some trips planned gives me things to look forward to. Being vegetarian for 50 some years, I pretty much have my diet and weight under control. Also see my dentist and eye doctor every 6 months. Also see primary doctor every year. Enjoy your channel and information very much!
Hey guys, great content! But there is one thing I disagree: It is not always the case that you snack a lot when you didn't have good breakfast in the morning. I'm practising intermittent fasting for several years now and eat some fruit as first meal around noon at work. And in the evening I have my dinner when I' m home. Maybe inbetween I eat a bit vegetable or an egg, but that is not always the case. 😊 Most of the time I'm not hungry.
we retired three years ago. My husband should be doing videos on how to have a great routine. He has a planner and makes sure that every day he excercises, writes, writes and plays music, reads (news, non fiction and fiction), and takes an on line course. He fills about 5 hours a day with purposeful activity. We also travel a lot. We purchased new bikes and are signed up for golf lessons. We are also long distance trail runners and have events that we train for (we are 65. The last one had three woman over 70 doing a three day event. Middle day was 20 miles.). Retirement is not longer knitting in a rocking chair. Although my husband has also taken up cross stitch and does some time each day on that. We also make sure to see friends, most of whom are still working so we can work around their schedule.
I retired 5 yrs ago.I’m very much aligned with your topic morning routine.Since then had a best ever sleeping routine my bedtime at 9pm then wake up at 6am then when I woke up I do meditation deep breathing stretching hydrate 2 glasses of water then do the self then a cup of coffee as my morning routine.
I'm retiring next year, after a 40-plus year career practicing law. I really enjoy your retirement advice and intend to implement some of your ideas in my retirement.
Jody I would love to hear more about your personal “self care” routine. I have recently been laid off (?forced retirement), I am 71 and floundering. I have been working since the age of 16 and lost as to what to do with myself. I can not get organised and have an issue with getting ANYTHING done. Scrolling is becoming my new “skill”! I have gone from suits and heels to my robe. Please do a video on how to be your best self in retirement. Thank you!!
Hi there! Thank you for watching and for leaving your comment. It's a great topic and we will add it to our list for future content. Thanks for your suggestion!
Just found you on UA-cam and now Subscribed. Very interesting. We're in our mid 70's, living in Central Fla East coast, retired 3 years ago, think I'm very healthy, now rarely drink, have been 'Keto' now for about 4 years, never consume sugar, haven't had a fast food meal in over 45 years, use a gym trainer 3 days a week, walk 2 miles a day (whenever it's not too cold), yet don't do cardio. Some kind of mental block there, so maybe a new 'Morning Routine' might be good for me! Thanks for doing this video. I'm going to set a new Morning Routine to now include a gym cardio session the days I don't use the gym trainer so maybe better able to do the walk (or my Electric Bike) each afternoon. Saw your Ruby. We have two Havanese!! Thanks again.
Thank you for a great video and about the morning routine. All about habits. Question though, do you change your "hours" of the routine with the change of the seasons? Example, as we move through spring and into summer, the days stay light longer, versus in the fall/winter it gets dark early, to enjoy more of the summer nights, do you shift the timing of your morning routine?
Great question. This is Mark answering and I would say that I do not shift too much. Yes in the summer it stays light longer and it’s a beautiful time to be outside. But unless we have company I’m still in bed pretty early. I have trouble sleeping past 4:00am so staying up late deprives me of sleep. I’ll still go to gym at 5:00 am.
Well for sure you need to set an alarm if you don’t get up early now. If your normal wake up time has been averaging at 7:00 am, and you want to get up earlier. Set your alarm for 6:45. Do that for a few days or even a week. Then keep making it earlier until you get where you want. At the same time you will need to make sure you are getting enough sleep so you may have to go to bed earlier too.

I'm not sure what we said about intermittent fasting. But I do that two days a week and it has been helpful I know many people that do it every day.
Thanks ,❤
You're welcome 😊
Thanks you both for your video today. My Morning Routine continues to evolve but I feel I'm on the right track given the lessons you gave us today!
Awesome! Keep up the good work and definitely share your routine with us!
Great reminder! Morning routine is important 👍
Absolutely!! What does your morning routine look like?

Without setting an alarm, you said early in video that’s not necessary. How would I get up at same time. My dog does not get up till I do.
