I consider them to be one of the best bands of all time. Every single one of their albums is outstanding. My favorite part about them is how uplifting their music is. Absolutely one of my favorite all time bands.

Quote from Myles Kennedy: "Blackbird" was inspired lyrically by a friend of mine named Mark Morse. He sold me my first guitar when I was a kid, and we stayed friends for years and years. He actually passed away right as that song was being completed so it was dedicated to him and his memory. It's really about seeing the suffering he was going through and hoping he would find his solace soon and be free from all of that.
Mark Morse also sold me my first guitar - November '83, an Arbor strat. He hot rodded it for me at no charge and I later traded it for my 74 LP Custom which is still my main guitar today. He was a great friend to many a young kid who dreamt of becoming a guitar hero. We miss having him around because he was such a great friend to talk guirar stuff! Yes, Myles dedicated it to Mark and it was hard to lose a good friend.

You can't listen to that song without the remembrance of a loss, or many losses, punching you right in the chest. That is as real as a song gets and you could tell every single detail out into that was worked on hard and to perfection. Absolute masterpiece.

When Creed dropped Scott Stapp, and picked up Myles Kennedy, they became Alter Bridge. It was the best thing that ever happened, Myles Kennedy paired with Mark Tremonti is rock epicness!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed. They've been my favorite band since their first album in 2004. The song was actually written about the death of the leader singer's (Myles Kennedy) first guitar teacher. They are hands down the best rock band on the planet right now. Every sick song of theirs kicks ass. Not a single bad tune through 5 albums. Check out "Wonderful Life", "In Loving Memory" and "Watch Over You". All beautiful songs of loss and suffering of loved ones.
Guys. I cried the first time I heard thIs song. Its the best "new" metal song in the last 20 years. Hands down.

My step daughters father was murdered three years ago and I didn't know what to say to her but I told her that I'll always be there for you and I would like you to listen to this song. I gave her my MP3 and let her listen to it. After she got done she came up to me and hugged me and said Thank you. I just told her im sorry for what happened to your dad and that I can't replace him but I promise I'll try to always be there for you. A cool thing it the singer frontman Myles Kennedy is from my hometown of Spokane,WA. He used to teach guitar at a place next door to a barber shop. The name of the place was called Learn to Burn 🔥 not only can he sing great but he can shred the guitar too. My friend went to high school with him and Craig Montoya from the band everclear. Mead high school class of 89 had some talented people in it.
Years later and all I can say is….. respect and love for you two. Tough song for people with history to watch. Hits deep. Hold your heads high and breathe some clean air. Survivors deserve bliss. All my best.

I lost my grandfather who was more than a father to me and lived for almost 12 years without mourning.
When I say that it was this song that set me free, it's because it says everything I felt, I feel, and I'll feel it until I'm with him again.
I lost my younger sister to cancer only 49 yrs old, we where three years she difference and when I heard this song during their concert a few years after she passed standing in the crowd looking up to the sky!, I could feel my sister ( and she was my best friend too) I sang along with tears came pouring down my face. It was an incredible feeling to hear this masterpiece of a tribute while singing it to my sister looking up at the heavens! I know you both felt the power and magic of this while listening too and you were hinking about your loved ones who passed on. We will be reunited with them someday, I really believe that too!💯💖🎸🙏💙😭 Miss her so much. TY for this video. you two are great together, I see the bond of love you have.

He wrote this for his friend Mark Morris who passed a way from cancer. Mark was the guy whole sold Miles his very first guitar as a teenager. This song hits so hard in the feels. Tears every time.

I loved Chris Cornell. To me he’s the best Rock/Metal singer. Having Myles my second favorite singer do this tribute is amazing.
I know that I suggested this song a few times and it was meant as a dedication to you two and your loss. Such a beautiful song. I have told many people that Alter Bridge is criminally ignored on reaction channels and in the rock/metal scene in general. Everything they do is done with a purpose and there is such passion and emotion in their music. They have got me through so many tough times in my life and I hope you two continue to explore them some more and find a few songs that stick with you also.

Kel and Rich, you guys are AWESOME! Alter Bridge is PHENOMENAL! Miles Kennedy is the Best rock singer out there today in my opinion and Mark Tremonti is incredible on Lead Guitar! Scott Phillips on drums is no slouch and Brian Marshall on Base rounds out this TREMENDOUSLY TALENTED BAND! SLASH wanted to team up with an awesome Lead Singer and naturally, he chose Miles to fill the slot! That right there proves that Miles has the “Chops”!
Hi Rich and Kel....My dad and sister died in a car accident when I was 6 years old. My dad was 29. And my sister it happed on her 10th birthday.. I miss them everyday. I understand the pain..I sleep on my daddys' grave. Everytime I can. My sister was so beautiful. She was an angel....I blame myself for their death. They were coming home from taking me to the airport. This song I play on there anniversary of passing. As I write this, I am crying tears of my loss and yours. You honor Jared and it's beautiful. I don't know you, but I love you. You are keeping his spirit alive. And us as viewers are priveledged for the honesty you both have. Your son is a Blackird with no pain. I have 2 tours in Afghanistan and have seen horrific things Those things are nothing compared to that. But that doesn't mean my heart can't 💔. No natter how many years go by. And me having a son myself I feel even more heartache because if something happens to me, I know he wouldn't be able to take it...Anyway guys. Keep doing what you are doing. I am totally feeling your pain. Lost my brother to epilepsy almost 4 years ago when he was 17. It was always painful seeing him having seizures. My condolences to you two. Have been a subscriber for a while now but never heard the story behind your son's death. But I think the pain is always a great reminder that he is still with you in some form like my brother is with me. One song that really helped me cope with all of that was Veil of Elysium by Kamelot, especially the part where Tommy sings "One day I know we will meet again". So one day I will be reunited with my brother as you will be with your son.

The seizures are awful.... smashing the head on coffee tables, hitting the floor, the constant biting of the cheek and tongue, then not being able to talk or eat.... we know its horrors all too well. We are so, so very sorry for your loss.

@@Kel.N.RichReactions Thank you as well for your equally kind words. One good thing with my brother was that he could somehow sense a seizure coming a few seconds in advance so he could take precautions not to hurt himself or anyone else most of the time.
It was still painful to watch him more or less unable to do anything other than watch out.

I first heard "Blackbird" in early February of this year while watching a music reaction video. My mom passed away March 18 and I had this song played at her memorial service. It now has a special meaning for me and every time I hear it, I weep. Beautiful song.
Sorry for your loss. You should check out In Loving Memory from Alter Bridge. Mark the guitar player wrote it for his mom after she passed away. The live performance from Amsterdam is really amazing also. Take care!
My mother helped influence my taste in music in a huge way! Music was always a way for her and i to bond. I actually shared Alter Bridge and Myles Kennedy with Slash with her and she LOVED his voice! Not only is this my favorite band but also now they hold a very special place in my heart since my mother passed away about a year and a half ago.

I have been a fan of AB from the start and yet each time I hear this song, I get strong feels and find I don't want to make eye contact with anyone for about 15 minutes as my eyes will be very red. I know so many people that have left us and I sincerely hope they are not broken any longer. To me, this is about as perfect a song as exists in all of music.
Kel & Rich, first time seeing this video. I am a hard man. Hardened by serving not one but two branches of the military. Army & Navy. 15 years. Land & Sea. Soldier & Sailor. I have seen many places. Alter Bridge is like one of the best rock bands out there right now. You could listen to just about every album front to back. Check out Cry of Achilles. Awesome song but the list goes on with them.

The lyrics of the song were written by Myles Kennedy (the singer) originally about a good friend of him that actually sold him his first guitar. He lost him due to an illness if I am not mistaken. Later though after Chris Cornell's death they dedicated it to him. I would love to see you reacting to more Alter Bridge! This was heartbreakingly beautiful.
When I heard of Chris's passing it hurt me to my core. He was/is so influencing to many, many of us. He was one of the major influence in my life to pick up a guitar, as well as my husband. We have now passed down his beautiful soul to our son. He will live on forever in my heart.

I was 29 when my father died painfully of lung cancer , now I'm 56 and every time I hear this song I think of him and start to cry.
I miss him for all time.

I have seen this song played live now 5 times here in Australia and everytime it's just as emotional and the purpose and feeling the song is played with is the same everytime, to me it's a modern day stairway to heaven it's a master piece on so many levels
I've had epilepsy since I was 7. I had seizures on a regular basis until I was 27 then they stopped. Then suddenly just last year on February 12th they came back after my having been seizure-free since 2002. On the 14th I had another and this time I fell off the bed during it and fractured/broke my left shoulder. I needed to have pins put in it and even now after over a year of recovery I still don't have full use of my arm. That's why my heart goes out to you both. Please know how much I sympathize with you and that you have my sincerest condolences. You two seem so full of love. I wish you both lots of love, kindness & compassion.

Listening to this song for over 3 Years now every day since my dad passed away. I listened to this song in the night my dad died für hours and cried knowing that he is gone.
This song is an absolute masterpiece! Lyrically, vocally, musically!
I found both Chris Cornell's and Alter Bridge, especially Myles when I was caring for my mom & best friend ever got dementia. This music found me then. Now, I lost her in April after caring for she fell & was taken to the hospital. She died in eight days & I never got to see her again. She was so ready to go & that gives me comfort for her. Still in the pandemic, isolating in the house we shared is brutal. Always take time to tell those you love how much you care. Just a testament to how music heals, it wouldn't have been music that was my usual taste so I have two Alter Bridge albums and two from Chris. I received a t-shirt of each as gifts. Genre aside, some songs just resonate straight to your heart & emotions. That leads to discovering a whole genre of music overlooked. Incredible performance. I'm sorry about your son & I hope precious memories can give some comfort. (sorry so long)

First of all, so sorry for your loss. I've been a fan of Alter Bridge form their first album & have seen them live here in the UK on many occasions. Blackbird is always a crowd favourite & one of mine, despite not realising at that time what the song was about. They recorded a show at Wembley Arena in London & he told a little story before they started the song & everything fell in to place. I couldn't sing along because I was crying too much!! I've since lost a dear friend & it was this song together with In Loving Memory which helped me through it. I hope it does the same to you guys!!

I never listened to the intro to this song by you guys until tonight and I’m so disappointed that I never did listen to it. You have all my prayers Kel and Rich. I had to give my 5 year old boy CPR last December, he was basically gone, but he is still with us thank God. Still, i'm not good months later and i can;t stop thinking about it. Myles Kennedy has one of the best voices I’ve heard in any genre of music. He’s multitalented and just an all-around great guy to boot. Why this band doesn’t get more recognition is mind-boggling to me, because they’ve got it all. They’re all extremely talented, they write fantastic songs, they’re professional, likeable, etc. I had never heard of them until several months ago and I was like, Why have I never heard of this band?

About this song: as far as I know, Myles dedicated it to the guy he bought his 1st guitar from. And there seems to be a story, ongoing from that.

I have always loved this song, this band. So powerful, so talented. I cried today, for my losses, for you guys. I dedicated Alter Bridge's song, In Loving Memory, to my mother at her funeral. I cry every time I hear it. I hope you can do a reaction to it as well. Love you guys.

I Love you Guys! You feel the nsame as me. So many comotion. The Transition about "Someday I´ll be fly, and find you again" . Such frase express how Chirs has been missing from everyone. Miles sings beautifully. The Band Alter Bridge is a "state of art" of Hard Rock. You have to listen to the Band History!

Rich, you're so utterly magnanimous! I don't know how you keep it together, because I can't.
Yeah loosing someone close to you just plain sucks. Gut wrenching pain just in the pit of stomach. But for most people it does get better with time, but the sorrow never leaves you completely. And I can't imagine what it feels like to loose a child. But sorrow is no stranger to me having lost my mother at 4 years old, and my father when I was 30. But you guys seems to be dealing with the loss in a really good way. Talking about Jared and letting it all out. It's so important not to bury your feelings. And in my experience it makes the road to were you can just enjoy all the good memories so much shorter.
Oh yes and reacting to Alter Bridge. Go see them live if you get the chance. They are just an amazing experience. When I saw them last in Copenhagen, Denmark some years ago, Myles Kennedy the singer was ill, but they still kicked ass for an hour and a half. And brought us the audience along all the way.
I can only listen to this song if I'm ready to cry. Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry for your loss.
