My buddy next door was all about his farm. He got a the same mill you have, a kioti ck2610 and I have a kioti cx2510. We both have powersaws and enjoyed the exercise we got and the lumber we produced and projects we built. Then he had a mid-life!!🤣 He’s and his wife are retiring in their mid fifties, I’m in my mid sixties. They’re selling everything, bought a duelee and 5th wheel camper, are selling the house and heading out to live like Gypsy’s! I’m thrilled for my friends, but I’m seriously gonna miss the mill and harvesting trees and turn them into lumber and the lumber into all kinds of stuff! So yea…I’ll enjoy your videos…in a bitter sweet kinda way. Still gonna miss my friend…we had a lot of fun…he was raising rabbits too and we processed those for food. Life goes on…but I gotta know…how’d you get the logs off once you got home and your tractor was at your buddies!?!?😳😎👊🏻 New subscriber…by the way….
I am a hobby logger (small scale) and I have a woodmizer lt15 mill, so i watch a lot of videos in order to find new ways to do things without the high dollar equipment. This video is one of the best I've seen. Every thing was well explained and demonstrated. Good ideas. Excellent job!

I recently received my Norwood LM30 (stationary) and will be setting it up in a few weeks. I was considering a tractor purchase and was thinking that I needed much larger one but you may have just saved me a few dollars.

Great video! I've been looking at tractors and I believe I can justify a smaller tractor to my boss... I mean my wife. I definitely understand the comment about not needing a gym membership, I move all of my logs with a log arch behind my four wheeler and carry all my slabs by hand once they're cut. Hi, New to your channel. Thank You for your time and for your sharing. I am 68, retired, live in Northern California. Coming 2 years now, I bought my HM126 and have been loving it. My electric company (PG&E) came through my property and cut 108 Doug Fir, Pines, & Oaks because of fire danger. I could not bear to leave them to rot away, so I started my Milling adventure. The moving of these logs have defiantly come to be a big issue. A lot of them are down the hillsides. I have a small tractor (2 wheel drive), along with the steep terrine here renders it almost useless. To deal with these big logs, I made a skid (of corrugated sheet metal), roll them onto, secure and skid back to the mill. Longer distances, I do as you with the trailer. However, with the use of a winch, snatch blocks and a lot of time, these large logs roll right up the ramps, spin into place and slide on up the trailer all while being hooked up to the truck. Then to come off the trailer, I chain up the rear end of the log and pull out from under. Roll it out of the way and on the the next one. Again, a lot of time involved. My mill is stationary and low to the ground, I was able to install a 8” X 8” beam over head of the mill. This beam has 2 tools on it, a 5k lbs cable winch and a 2 ton chain hoist. These 2 tools allow me to roll the logs once on the bunks. I’ve had logs that the 5k lbs winch would not roll, the 2 ton chain hoist will roll anything I can get on the mill. Welcome Jack! Sounds like you have a great setup. Sometimes our only option is to improvise and use the resources that we have available. So great that you were able to use those trees that PG&E cut down. I also hate seeing trees turned into mulch or rot away when valuable lumber can be made instead. I Bought the HM 130 MAX and getting ready to start milling, was not sure how I was going to get the logs to the mill. Going to get the Quick hitch for my john deer 2032R. And the lifting tongs. Many thumbs up on your lifting log Ideas, will save me money on buying a bigger tractor. Thanks. more video's please

Thanks for the vid. Absolutely helpful. I have been wondering how the angle would work with tongs from a quick hitch hook. I didn't even notice the mic on your hat. Even when you leaned into the camera to point it out it took me a moment.
Could you tie or mount a small pulley on your roll bar on tractor then run a rope and tie to one side of tongs then when dropping off Could pull the rope and drive ahead Could just stay on tractor then not get off
Nice way of moving logs around! I wonder if you could put a pully on your ROPS and have a rope tied to the tongs so you wouldn't have to get off the tractor (sometimes) to release the tongs from the log.
My tractor (27 hp) same issue. Like the tongs, it would be nice to somehow get a foot and half for staging on a mill. I'm playing with a logosol for now but may upgrade.

@@activeoutdoorssawmillediti7736 maybe, the logosol is set up for 14 foot max. Most of the fir trees max out at 20 inches. Those I can manage. We have some larger bull pines, those are the issue. I built a staging set up out of 6×6. It has some mass to it, however rolling a larger log would move the entire workings. Mess up the accuracy. The quick attach has given me some options.(mast and chainfal?)Thanks

Harbor Freight sells them. 10,000 pound tow hook.
